Clearly this is a biased reporter. The attempt to sympathize with the kosher deli restaurants as if they are victims of "cruel rabbinical" laws forbidding meat for the "9 Days" is silly. and revealing.
Every Kosher Deli operator knows of this custom and factors it into his menu planning. It's that simple.
It's sad when biased reporting resorts to distorting and painting as evil, long standing Jewish customs.
