  • i tend to go to these seminars to just observe and listen, but i have been training in jkd for 5 years, and had plenty of scraps in real world, i just wanted to know how people do this wing chun stuff, iam a very hard trainer of jkd and it was nice to see something different, although, i never found it that effective if were toalking about real world and truth, but very good stuff

  • well, you can search for a good school that teaches wong shun leung method then , just an insight, you can watch philipp bayer in youtube or wan kam leung or gary lam. usually you will only watch one aspect of wing chun (usually chi sao) and it doesnt mean the whole art, so don't judge the book by its cover. imo, wsl method is very close to jun fan jkd (early jkd)

  • well this me doing chisao, I train jkd, but never really touched on wing chun, I find jkd street effective, when aan was giving me his view on a real street, i wasn't impressed, my jkd contains now wing chun, just good fottwork, I wanted to see what wing hcun was like, but I was aware that I wouldn't fight like that, But he was nice person

  • Alan is doing it right. Chi Sao has 5 elements to it... not just soft/smooth:

Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal.

Water or the soft reactionary part is only one aspect of WC. You also need wood for feeling, timing, fire for surprise and explosive attacks, earth for control, positioning, and metal for damage, power. You can train chi sao many ways, ant what Alan is showing is more advanced.

  • I agree, thats incorrect way fo doing chi sao, you should never jerk forward and back, I can see what your saing just by looking, you seem quiet good for a beginner, you tech tuff just needs more work plus you stance need strenghening, i have train in hong kong so i know hat is good and bad chi sao, you have smooth flow, just work on your stance and technical stuff.

  • I never liked cherking like that, i think thats incorrect chi sao, I have a smoother approach to chi sao, I just couldn't get to grips with his jerking movements. I think chi sao should be smooth, he seem to use alot of force aswell, which i think that chi sao should "NOT" be used as forcefull, it is a reflex and training aid, so being ultra hard, and jerking is defeating the purpose

  • can i ask who you study under?

  • I didn't reall get a chance to stick, Alan was showing me loads of stuff, I wasn't to keen on the cherky movements though that he goes by, iam a beginner, but i dont agree with the hardness and the cherking forwrd. ie wsl way

  • Isn't the sudden forward motion and the pulling motion as well a valid method for testing the stance of someone else?

  • wow thats me, Please iam beginner so I know i look real shit. please dont comment. I know I look real crap!!!!

  • lol wow i wish we had wing chun events with girls like that in the back.
