  • 6 people have no fucking taste in music

  • DYNOMITE!!!!

  • I don't know what he's saying.

Fortunately for myself, I don't give a shit.

  • Chicago style deep dish pizza was invented when Steve Albini's kick drum sound punched craters in the dough

  • i must say i prefer the Peel session version from about 94.

And that session's Crow is also superior to the lp version.

    Just.

  • When i saw them live Steve told a somewhat elaborate story with ended with "And he said, Todd Trainer, the most beautiful man in the world... Play the drums!"

  • the end is missing. that last tone on album. :-(

  • Animal Planet, don't feature this band on your channel anymore. I don't care how much you love Italian Greyhounds.

  • TIIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dhaqiudhqwhejqhne;qeqeqehqnkjdnqohqoiqqiogagaga.... Wow good lyrics... terrible music. lolumadbro?

  • @Hooahgoarmy I ain't even mad newfag.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green "newfag" wtf does that mean.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green lol..../b/tard.

  • I can't understand a damn thing Steve and Bob are screaming. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I love this band.

  • Two guys screaming to a really badass drum beat, this really is an awesome Shellac song!!

  • just magnific.. :)

  • awesome sound guys! so glad im a animal planet guy.lol

  • the drummer from the band was on The Dog Whisperer for his Italian Greyhound I forget why thou

  • that first picture is the drummers dog

  • rotosound strings hehehe... nice shit from the who sell out!

  • When I listen to this I imagine Brak from Space Ghost is singing. It makes me love it even more.

  • @majick59 yes

  • todd trainer bears a striking resemblance to bill hader from SNL

  • i was thinking todd beared a more striking resemblance to animal from the muppets. thats toddy boy for ya.

  • the vocals are from several tunes recorded at electrical over the years, try to spot em all.

  • Love this tune, love Shellac. Steve Albini has made life 200% better for me. The perfect soundtrack to the modern world.

  • does that help?

  • Steve quote from EA forum -

I have played on a bunch of different amps over the years, both with and without other parts of my normal setup and I'm usually fine with it. I prefer my own stuff, but really it doesn't matter that much.

  • I think a couple of things matter most. Hot single-coil pickups (SD Quarter-pounder Tele/strat, Travis Bean/EGC, P90s), mild preamp distortion and very little midrange. The bass is actually pretty important, but the key thing is not having very much distortion or midrange in there.

  • That's what I love about Albini's sound with Shellac. There's barely any distortion, but the guitar sound is so intense.

  • It's the sound I've always strived for, but failed to get.

  • @Duraan84 harmonic percolator

  • @Duraan84 then you need a pre-amp style boost. you can get these sounds with humbucker pickups and distortion pedals, just dont use any gain or drive only volume. electro harmonix english muff'n goes good for this

  • @Duraan84 try using cabs with a tweeter in them and analog solid state amps ...oh and throw in some stainless steel strings and metal pics to ... that's what it sounds like to me mainly ....of course theres alot more to it ...but do you really wanna know... or try to be that accurate ? falling into rip off territory might end up beeing more of a disrespect to a band that's that awesome

  • @JayOrphan I agree with the "rip-off" thing. Albini found/created his own sound, I need to find mine.

  • About the only amps I can't really suffer are the high-gain beasts like the Mesa rectifiers and contemporary fuzzbox Marshalls (JCM900 or later). Also I think having a thin snappy pick with a couple of points on it matters. I use copper Hotlicks picks, but I used notched Martin picks (the ones with the little handle on them) before that and it sounded about the same.

  • In Big Black and Rapeman I used strat- or telecaster-type guitars with neck+bridge pickups, usually both on and out-of-phase. With Shellac it's always been the Travis Bean and when I use both pickups they're in phase.

  • one of those rare songs that passes the "can you imagine The Muppets performing this" test.

    oh hell yeah.

  • shiiiit baby these boys be fast

  • Thanks for sharing this song. This and that Steady as She Goes song is reason enough. Now I MUST BUY THIS ALBUM, to go along with the other three. Might as well complete the collection. Love the chang of pace. The only other band I can think of that can change the pace so extreme polar opposites is SOAD. Glad to see that Albini hasn't lost the rage over the years like others. You can't tame steve. He still ROCKS OUT!!!

  • Agreed. Saw them 2 weeks ago, they still rock!! Didn't play this song though, was very disappointed...

  • watch?v=Zpp2_VcXD9c

  • 'LIKE IT!!!!

  • Glad you liked it.

  • This is fucked up (musically).

    FUCKING LOVE IT!

  • I agree, fucked up but fucking awesome!!!!

  • Brilliancy!

  • Albini's sound. I really wonder where he can find such amazing sounds of guitar.

  • check out guitar geek and the electrical audio forum for more info

  • Interfax Harmonic Percolator.

    Try Barge Concepts' clone: BF-2

  • this song is the shit.... nice

  • hilarious

  • todd is god!

  • That's fucking great !!

  • best intro ever.

  • I like the lyrics. Poignant!
