or because it's not exactly enjoyable to listen to someone sing about things you don't agree with or believe in?
ya know, how you guys sue, jail, kill or otherwise ostracize anyone who doesn't agree with you about god? well, we say "i'd like them more if they thought otherwise". which one is worse?
@10lettername interpreting while ignoring the artist's intent is not listening to the artist but yourself...Mars Ill is a a Catholic-Christian..there's no way of CORRECTLY interpreting other than through that lens. When you listen to an artist, be open to listening to their beliefs, otherwise no one is forcing you to press play....
im the graff writter jesussaves nyc and i must admit mars ill is one of my best and number 1 favorit gospel hiphop of all time even dough they all good but this is real hip hop..with out breaking mc ing graffiti or djaying on 2 turn tables is not considered as hiphop 2 me..one of the illest way 2 rep the gospel of christ that will influence millions
I dig and appreciate these dudes not just for the dope rhymes and beats, but because, despite being christians, they don't shove it down my throat or guilt trip me for not being christian. They're just hiphop kings who happen to sometimes mention their faith, but always in context.
"Sound Off" Is The Sound Of True Music. Mars ill's Rhymes Reside On Mars, People Here On Earth Cannot Reach The Same Depth Or Reason As This Kid Here. Not The Way Hip Hop's Going Today. Mar's Ill, Lacrae, J. Cole, Wale, Common, That's All We Got For Now. That's What We'll Make Due With.
The best underground hip hop is Holy Hip Hop, if you love old school rap and underground hip hop, but with a good message check this cats, they represent the true Hip Hop.
this trak is obnoxiously def! my fav on pro pain. i got this trak on repeat for hours. didnt know there was a video, though. and rflol at you vid description.
I think Manchild and Sintax Are probably undisputed hip-hop artists from Deepspace 5. I think both of these guys should make a record together because a group of 2 is better than a group of ten. More concentration on illness other than different voice scatter, I know cause thats all I hear on these records. But Mars ill is off the hook.
manchild and sintax were in a group togeather called the pride they still do stuff as just the two of them every once in a while i think they had 1 or 2 songs on beat rabbi's deepspace soul
i remember hearing of these guys when i only listened to "christian" music (whatever that means). since then i've listened to a lot of hip hop... wu tang, atcq, MF DOOM..... but these guys are SICK too!!! his flow is nuts.
Man I love this. Not a christian but I do love your hip hop. I grew up listening to Mars Ill, Deepspace 5, Verbs, GRITS, Red Cloud, Tunnel Rats...you name em, I listened to em. I still listen to this stuff because it's so much better than the radio junk. Big ups to DJ Dust and Manchild keepin it real in the A!
@ClearMindDontKnow Yeah, sick underground rappers keepin' it real spittin' da truth in every lyric can't sound bad. Christian myself and man a year ago I didn't know christian rap existed, and now I don't even want to listen to anything else, its just so sick!
Man! The first time i heard Mars Ill & Deepspace5 i was like "WHAT, WHO" THat's real HipHop no dout! I've all their albums, i liked them from the day i heard them. True HipHop rught there!
These cats are 100% pro. I'm amazed that the mainstream has overlooked the body of work over the years. Some of the beats & sample twists Dust comes up with...just pure record digg'en & love of the craft. Great Duo.
"propain the album that now completes the hat trick..." need more crews like this comin' outta the south 'cuz seriously, other than a very few... the dirty south has been chokin' hip hop to death for years.
dope flow, gorgeous beat...for real though, its probably just me but why do all the underground white rappers sound alike vocally, i mean, playdough, mars ill, atmostphere, 7l & esoteric, bliss n eso...its a conspiracy son
He sounds nothing like them. I personally hate Atmosphere and if they sounded alike I would never listen to Mars ILL. Mars ILL is easily one of the best duos out.
Dude, I mean the latest rap song by "Soulja boy" and 50 cent, sounds like a single line of bad rap repeated over and over, that does not take skill. You got people like the Mars Ill crew spitting the sickest stuff ever and I'd listen to their music over that other crap any day. Sound off!
@Theparableof0 it takes skill to write catchy hooks; 50 is a master at that. call him a sellout coz he makes club bangers, but shit i'd do the same thing if i could. his older shit was dope anyway; i bet every cunt that trashes 50 never heard power of the dollar.
There are rappers who are christian and there are christian rappers. The problem is that most people can't distinguish the two and think its all the same. Mars Ill is sick and raw material is one of my favorite hip hop albums...they're not pushing a religon but you know what they stand for.
real hip hop is good hip hop, whether or not it is christian.. i consider myself agnostic but i love mars ill, sin tax and deepspace 5 and see no reason why I shouldn't... its funny to me, people will be fans of rap songs about doing PCP and wild shit no one would ever do, but liking a song that gives praise to God? its so funny that people try to make that shit sound anti-hip hop cuz if anything its all love and thats what hip hop should be
True Hip Hop originated from the streets of new york and was catalyzed by the new york blackout in 1977 that allowed numerous youths and teens to loot and steal electronics and musical devices from stores. This led to an outburst of djing in the parks and the eventual art we today call hip hop. The foundations for hip hop were anything but christian and without these foundations "chrisitan rap" would not exist today. Who is this to say what true hip hop is?
Not quite accurate. The Origin of Hip Hop wasn't the Blackout.
Hip Hop started in the Bronx in the early 70s, and its Origins came from West Africa, and from the Caribbean.
True Hip Hop is not about how much you know about it, or what ever. It's a Culture that connects People from all over the World. True Hip Hop doesn't have a certain Color, it includes all Colors.
lyrical GEMS in there--- while they vilify/ we illustrate/ the illest style...punching thru the pop-screen/ there's power in these lungs...built a future sound on the back o the classics...straight fire! and great track and video Dust!
in my opinion any of the cats from Deepspace5 are in the higher ranks of truly gifted MCs, but in all this you got give credit to God for blessin' 'em with their talent.
