if not, like me you should use a flea bass, amazing to slap with :)

a good amp, for home use and not as expensive would probably be a Hartke A25 25 watt bass amplifier , for 190$

Get yourself a new Fender Jazz, you will love it. I own a few basses and I always keep going back to my Fender Jazz Deluxe. Great neck, killer tone and they hold their resale pretty well. Musicman are great too!

Well, if you want to get that tone, you won't exactly get it with a Jazz bass. Although, I do think Jazz basses have a similar tone.

I play a jazz too, and this song, on my amp, I tend to turn mids very low and highs and lows higher, you don't get quite as heavy a sound as the ray, but very edgy. Oh and everything on full.
