The Sprinklers can not be turned off once "acctivated" the Fire Cheif has to come turn them off and because there is no fire they consider it to be "low priority" and wont show up for about half an hour or more this is why you dont play with fire sprinklerts

This is a walk-in cooler, the store is closed for the night by the stack of food on the cart to be put away.

The black is from the rust in the sprinkler pipes, it will sit in the pipes until its purged, or goes off. If there were a fire, most people wouldn't worry about the foul smelly, dirty water that saved the building from burning down.

Only the fire department has access to the sprinkler valves usually

The water must of been old and dirty from sitting there for all these years. In case of fire the food will be somewhat saved. But in this case it will be impossible.
