@Beatlefanone Yet, you questioned my character I don't know where you are from but here it is along the same lines as calling someone a jerk. I think that my first post about relishing in the conflict still rings true. Which one of MY posts (which I thought were fairly reasonable) did you find childish? @MrAgrippa91313 I never intended to clump you into the childishness. I realize that you didn't say a cross word about Rand. Anyone who wants to balance the budget is a douche and ball sucker. What kind of person would want to prevent currency devaluation and bankrupcy? A douche, that's who. Long live wasteful spending!
He's not a classic libertarian, he's the new distorted breed of conservative libertarian, true libertarians are known more as libertarian socialists and its recognized in Europe.
@bushsucked i agree, balancing the budget is totally fucking retarded and only a ball sucker would want to do that. What an extremist right wing nut job, right?
A balanced budget Constitutional Amendment? This is just one Senator folks. You would need about 80 Rand Pauls in Congress to get something like that accomplished (unfortunately).
@IllumTheMessage We'll be discussing these same issues years from now. The reality of DC politics is about to drop on Rand Paul like a ton of bricks. Every politician goes to DC flying high on campaign rhetoric until they're smacked down by the entrenched powers who really control that town. Just ask Obama and the Democrats. Paul will tow the line and vote with the rest of his cronies to raise the debt ceiling in 2011 because that hand-over-heart teabagging crap only works in fantasy land.
I just hope Rand was just telling the necons in the GOP leadership what they wanted to hear. If he is anything like a neocon, I can only hope he fails. Please, stand by with your father, Rand.
Rand Paul - "American Companies ship jobs oversees because they're simply taxed too much in America."
Sure, Rand, let's overlook their GREEDY decisions to exploit slave labor and maximize their profits over 30 years ago. Way to fight for American workers by defending those poor wittle BIG GREEDY CORPORATIONS!
@LuvChaos So how about this, let's say you personally run a business. Do you choose to barely break even, or to have a 40% profit margin? How about if you have shareholders who demand a profit or they pull their cash and you go out of business?
If you look into it a bit further, you'll see that Rand Paul is correct. Companies are going to move much of their labor overseas if it's prohibitively expensive to do the business here. If you continue to have your hand out hoping, well, good luck
@BullyThePucky We compete on a global market and the US government has made that very difficult for years. The auto industry collapse is part of that.
Paul appears to be targeting the EPA and I'm fully on board with his mindset.
Republicans will only harm themselves by passing business-friendly regulations along with dummycrats. Huge multi-national corporations love regulation because they pass down costs to the consumer and don't have to worry about competition which is kept out of the market
@BullyThePucky Nice try, but American companies weren't "breaking even" when they decided to exploit the slave labor market overseas. Their "shareholders demanded" more profits because the billions they were already making wasn't quite enough for those greedy sob's. Rand Paul is full of crap, and instead of defending the indefensible, he should tell us what he's planning to do for American workers. How patriotic of you to defend that pile of BS.
@BullyThePucky LOL read what you typed and ask yourself the same question if you were the CEO of a major company...it really is a question of ethics. Do you choose to build your company up or do you choose to sit in an office/play golf and let a bunch a people thousands of miles away run things while you collect a check. Yeah your not above it so don't even try.
all the morons talking shit about rand paul know nothing about his father. you people are the problem. you vote for the same puppets like they are your favorite sports team. change, REAL change is on its way, get over it morons.
@ChrisKnight22 You're the moron if you think that yo-yo is any different than the rest of them pal. He would have ran as a TRUE THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE if that were the case. Instead, "Mr. Change" accepts MILLIONS of dollars from establishment Republicans while running on the same old tired ass bullshit that we've seen for decades. To his credit, though, he did manage to convince lots of gullible saps (like you) that he's a "different" kind of politician. Suckers really are born every minute. LOL
@ChrisKnight22 I agree but the problem is once he is in power he will have to conform the the D.C. way of doing hing and buddy up with mitch mcconnel, who has done nothing for us in the past
So who's side Rand Paul is on? He simply is a mirror for peoples' frustations. OOh wait, who does he represent? A figure of the government. LOL revolution. All most of you will get is another happy politican who will stuff their face full of expensive food with pockets full of taxpayer money. A real revolutionary would never beg a group of tyrants for help. Ppl need to learn to be more self reliant and live within their means. That ideal fantasy world from the 60s has to go.
@can06 Couldn't be more right. As a Kentuckian I am genuinely disappointed that Rand won, seriously worried about this. The polarization of my country is unsettling to say the least. The really sad thing is that people in Kentucky got duped into voting against their best interests, nothing will get done at this rate. Well he wanted to be a Senator and he is, now we get to hold him accountable, hopefully.
@MrAgrippa91313 It's unfortunate that people think the way you do. It's almost like you take pleasure in ignoring common sense intuition.
Cut spending - in your opinion terrible
Decrease regulations on business - in your opinion terrible
Balance the budget - in your opinion terrible
What do you think is in the Kentuckians' best interests? Since you are speaking on behalf of the entire state? Welfare checks and social security. More paper piles of regulations? Hope you're enjoying lala land.
@CircleBastiat What on earth are you talking about? I am all for cutting spending, where it needs to be cut. Have you ever been to a coal mine? Regulations save lives, wow so I must be whiny and liberal right? Who in their right mind would say that balancing the budget is a terrible thing, man I want what you are smoking in lala land? Never claimed to speak for the entire state as the elections would clearly show, but convince yourself of what you will. Why are you so mad?
@CircleBastiat It is unfortunate that you are so aggressive. Sad really, like you have something to prove. But to answer your question, I would raise taxes on the top 1%, (major coal companies and foreign owned horse businesses, and construction comanies), Promote a strong green energy plan with emphasis on human resources as well as research and development. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to get some gov money to do that, then I would redistrict the state, The current- to b continued
@CircleBastiat mainly because the old system is outdated (set up so you could reach the county capitol within a days horse ride, I mean come on), and corrupt (if you lived here you would know) I would attempt to get social security back on it's feet so you and I don't have to retire at the age of 170. Drink some water, sit down before you fall down, whatever just join the rest of us on earth.
I am going to remind the stupid racist again. Obama will be no more than a mere scapegoat. Everybody will be able to blame everything on him simply b/c he's black. The rich elite figure they could put a white face back in which will give the idiots a false sense of hope and relief. However, the same ol crooks (oil/bank owners) will be in power. They are cleverly playing upon the racist hatred which only serves to divide the country further. Its a constant trick being pulled on u guys here.
It's inspiring to see a senator (er soon to be) who, despite the beating he took from his own party in the primary, can still stand up to both sides of the isle on his way to Washington. I, for one, am glad we got a Paul in the senate...
@drpeppa2357 Universal health care is the worst thing to happen for any country. I lived under such system and it sucks to a point that I have to get a private doctor for help. Sure it's cheap but the service sucks and the cost of it has a domino effect to the country's economy. The private health care is the way to go but government and states prevents competition and over-regulate them which leads to high premiums. Having to wait for months even for a serious illness is not civilized.
@TruthAddict3000 tell that to France, which would erupt in riots if its universal healthcare system, one of the most notably successful in the world, were repealed.
This bill had some well needed reform in it, pre-existing condition coverage denial reform and allowing family to stay in plans until mid 20s just to name a few. There isn't any regulation, that's the problem, they charge obscene amounts and make people choose between food or care.
@drpeppa2357 this nonsense. There are ways to make health care affordable. Besides most people who can't afford health care already have it through their states. What is ridiculous is that our drug companies sell drugs with such a high markup over here and yet so cheaply in Canada that Canada can sell them back to us at a profit for cheaper than we can buy them ourselves. Or doctors charging 300 dollars for an office call to tell you you need to go home and rest and drink liquids. total crap
@drevenkaine This as well, the bill actually had provisions to clean up the messy state of the healthcare system as America knows it so we could actually afford it. Oversight on the methods doctors use to address illnesses and their practices are to be looked over as a means to make it more efficient. Many doctors have been known to simply prescribe medication which sells at(as you noted) inflated prices that are hardly affordable in large quantities. It was a step in the right direction.
Him and his father are going to bring us back to the guilded age. As long as none of them are president I support them. No way do I want them to abolish the education system, financial aid to students, social security. Bureaucrats, we need bureaucrats, just not plutocrats raising insurance premiums. Believe all that bullshit about business being good, its all run in an authoritarian fashion.
Great catch, both sides suck the life out of Americans. There are the RED the BLUE how about assigning the WHITE to another Party. I for the republic and the Constitution not the Sheeple of the RED and BLUE. I thin the only reason Paul is running on the Rupublican side is he has a better chance to get elected.
