His fingers clearly aren't sliding as you see in 0:24 when he starts. The coil moves, but it only rolls over so this is kinda the same thing as the hypnotic thingy. It looks they are moving apart, but they are only rolling over on each other, and that's why his hands are moving apart. The wires themselfs are on place.
