Awesome job. For that being your first time doing a repaint, you really pulled it off really well. I have been thinking about doing some repaints of my own but never gotten around to it.

Thanks man :) Technically it was the first Transformer I repainted, as I've been doing Games Workshop stuff on and off for years :P But I found the whole project thoroughly enjoyable, if anything it spurred me on to do more and more!! If your looking to get into TF repaints/kitbashes.. I would definitely suggest trying your hand at an Animated figure first. They have nice big flat surfaces and aren't overly details like Classics or Movie figures :) Drop me a message if you want some advice man!

I am thinking on getting into something like that. Maybe going to get a voyager class prime and turning him into Nemesis Prime, but who knows. What kind of black and red paint should I use if I do it.

@PhantomJedix2000 - I use Games Workshop Citadel paints. They're a water based acrylic range that you can use straight out of the pot, as opposed to some paints that require thinner. The only down side is it's not very durable and can scratch easily. Fortunately GW do matt and gloss varnishes to. I personally think that a matt varnish works well on Animated style figures as it gives them more of a cartoon feel. If this is your first outing into customs, I'd definitely recommend Citadel man :)

@transformafan34 try repainting the cybertronian optimus prime into either his shattered glass version or nemesis prime; that figure seems to be one of the easier ones to repaint.

Truth be told I've been painting Warhammer/Gamesworkshop stuff on and off for about 10 years.. so I do have 'some' painting experience.. but this is technically my first Transformers repaint :)

i would rate this custom 6/10 for some nitpiky reasons such as i can see brush marks on the canon and i can see some paint on the arm and chest are begining to crack.

could i suggest that you remove all perverous paint before the repaint.

At the time this video was posted, I had not the parts or tools to finish what I wanted to do with Galvatrons head.. I know its only a half measure but I figured I might as well post him in his current state.

As for brush strokes to be honest it was more a case of the paint than anything. That particular gold colour is for some reason thinner than others I use, thus I ended up putting on several layers to get an even coat.. cont -->

<-- cont. I've also noticed cracked paint... he still needs a coat of varnish (again.. at the time of posting, I didnt have, nor was I able to get any unfortunately)

As for stripping down exsisting paint... there really isnt much on this mold.. most of his colours are made of coloured plastic, it was only really the details like his face and parts of his legs that had paint apps, otherwise I'd have given him a diluted acetone bath :P

Do you mean the Voyager and Leader Class figs?.. I dont have the Leader Class but I personally think the Deluxe version of his Cybertronian form is a much better mold than the Voyager..

I know for a fact this is up to debate, but as with g1 characters, galvatron was multiple colors in different episodes. I have seen him in blue, purple and even a dark blue with purple highlights. Im going to do this to him.

Yeah, I did some research before starting the repaint and found a good few varying colour schemes for him :P ..so much for consistancy huh?

I opted for the Games Workshop Citadel colour Liche Purple.. as it was a fairly close match to his colours on the Universe fig..

If I eventually did an Animated Cyclonus custom I would probably go for the cartoon colours.. a much lighter lilac colour :)

Once I start doing new reviews again I'll be investing in a daylight bulb and a lamp :) That way I'm not relying on the daylight outside!! lol.. but thanks for the suggestion :)

lol... to be honest I have some brushes the size of needles for that kinda thing, but I know just what you mean.. it makes a tricky job alot easier!!.. An airbrush is definatley something I want to pick up eventually. When I come to repaint larger figs, I dont think I'll want to do them by hand with a brush!! lol..
