That would be great to be weapons free in space but the reality is that its a necessity not an option, to have a space weapons race. Those treaties are bullshit and the governments know it. Space technology is the most important technology today because its the perfect platform to wage war.

What the treaty really means is that they have to hide whatever tech they are developing so the general public thinks everything is peaches.
