recommend you DON'T use the lens cover - any grit trapped underneath will scratch the lens - I have taken some nice pix with this phone!

I have this phone and I have spent a bit of time with it - setting it up. What you really really need to do with this phone is to UPDATE IT. Either use the internal update menu - or - better still download Nokia Suite and Update software to your Pc/Laptop and install the very latest Firmware updates/maps and so on - IT WILL make all the difference. My N97 is much better then the one I purchead last week. Also - make sure you only use the MASS STORAGE to save pics/vids AND new APPS!!

actually, imo, resistive TS is inferior to capacitive TS, but thats just my preference.

i normally wont consider phones that uses resistive..

few reasons

lesser legibility under sunlight

cheaper(placebo effect =/)

and some personal preference issue, i rather capacitive ts over resistive ts

ugh... the sofware of Nokia is horrible. Their company motto is "cram as much hardware as possible into the smallest space possible". crappy firmware, I have an N96 and it crashes every other day. I doubt this phone is any better than their last one. No new features, not innovative at all.

That phone is the first touch screen with qwerty witch has a 5.0 MPX camera. It is far ahead from any other phone in market at least for the next 2 years

I'm sure you can, since it shares the same OS - although augmented - as the 5800. A Nokia executive that introduced the N97 at Nokia World 2008 specifically said you can use the various touch-keyboards OR the physical keyboard.

Here is the thing, you click on those buttons to do your hour to hour functions like texting reading sms .. etc .. you want those button animations and screen transitions to be as fast as #@$%! .. cause if they weren't , it'll get to you. Bear in mind you'll be pressing on them dozens of times a day at least . So where thats concerned, iphone is still king I am afraid, but lets hope the Finnish get it all sorted.
