I don't really like to listen to it on the default Windows XP midi soundfont. What i like to do is find some old soundfont which were used on SNES games like FF6 for example and listen if it sounds like it would be part of the game.
The best thing is, as you listen to this track with my crappy onboard sound, even with the usually pitiful Microsoft FM/GM Synthesis it sounds relatively good. Although some more recent onboard sound chips should be decent actually, but also in terms of MIDI output; bring they even their own synthesizer software/wavetables?
Listen to this on a good old SBLive! or one of the better sound cards (Audigy Platinum and up) to kick ass ...
Exactly! Midi can be esily edited from notes, because its made of them, but MP3s are like any other sound files D< can't be edited easily, only created.
And I have a KORG's MIDI synth pugged to my comp, I can record midis too, and MP3's cant :D
I had a demo program for making MIDIs. Didn't bother to get it registered because I figured noone would care enough. Though, I only got it just to make some songs for a game project I was working on. I only made one really good one and about ten that were hit or miss.
Too bad converting them to other sound files is a pain. Either they go off tempo or the sound comes out really weird.

I find the midis awesome when I have my synth plugged to my computer :D It's old but has some nice instruments.

I never realized it before, but Mokou's theme sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL in MIDI.

Too bad MIDI's don't get the respect they deserve.
