  • in europe "made in america" means bad quality.... Americans are foolish and blind. wake up america!!!!!

  • I could be wrong, but wasnt the thing that started Cannondales decline, that motorcycle they tried to build? Didnt that financially screw them?

  • I HAVE RIDDEN & RACED C-DALES FOR 24 YEARS GREAT BIKES, GREAT FRAMES.4 CRITERIUM SERIES AND 1 SYSTEM SIX,STILL OWN THEM MY TREASURES.BUT THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE.-------- DON'T OUTSOURCE MY RIDE

  • We have the highest corporate income tax in the world with the possible exception of Japan. If you want to stop killing jobs and companies in America, call your elected politicans and tell them to cut their spending and cut corporate income taxes.

  • Fuck dorel

  • Greedy jerks! I hope you go out of business. G oo gle Only American Made Here! My website for Made in USA products.

  • love my f600 but I will not be buying a cannondale again

  • ive got a 1996 cannondale m800 beast of the east love it , ive had cannondales for nearly 20 years, im buying a 1998 cannondale super v 400 lovely bike THESE 2 BIKES WERE HANDMADE IN THE USA, so fuck off dorel industries, you really fucked up a truly unique company that once upon a time also made nearly all its own clothing as well as its bikes, i would really love dorel industries to be absolutely ruined.

  • Orange bikes tried having their frames made in asia, it wasn't long before they was made back in the uk and they dominated the curcuits with peaty etc. A chinese fella doing 15 hour shifts will not put the same care into a bike. the comapny i work for is in direct competition with china and there has been many occassions where we have been asked to repair the chinese variety due to very poor standards

  • Outsourcing must stop to many jobs are being lost and people will lose work freedoms.

China should adopt a china makes goods for china and exports same as america keep imports and exports balanced between international trading nations.

  • COMMUNIST

  • Time for an import tariff.

  • Ah, Globalization. Is it really worth saving $50 on a $1000 bike?

  • These companys need to get their products off of America's shelfs. It is the only way, if it is not made here it does not sell here.

  • had two cannondales. I still have a 1997, indestructable m800 "beast of the east"

But no new one for me..

  • Lets look at some simple numbers. This video said production is some 250 bike a day. At 250 work days a year that works out to an annual production of about 62,500. That $4,000,000 a year saving works out to $64 per bike. I would much rather pay that extra $64 when I buy the bike than to pay the costs of a depressed economy; unemployment comp., retraining, personal relocation etc. not to mention the ripple effect. Can Dorel see beyond the tip of their nose?

  • I have a $140 US built 1995 Huffy commuting bike, which has survived 15 years of UK urban streets, it simply will not die. Perhaps US made goods last too well, and are hence not replaced enough. Be interesting to see how the new Taiwanese Cannondale I've bought compares.

  • I'm sure the republican plan with the new house will have trickle down jobs in the form of taco assembly lines at Del Taco and Taco Bell for those impacted by the company's move...so sad.

  • That´s sad. I wish I bought one earlier. Stupid decision of Dorel, just to save 4 million dollars a year. In the future I will buy only a used Cannondale or another brand. The name Cannondale stood for quality made in the US - until now. I don´t understand this bunch of shitholes who call themself managers. They don´t have a heart, they only think of making profit.

  • Just a couple years ago we had 5 Cannondale bikes in our house... 2 Prophets, a Gemini, an F5 and a Rush... so many great bikes out there to choose from but the made in the US frames always gave Cannondale an advantage when it was time to buy new bikes, flash forward just 2 short years and somehow Dorel has managed to level the playing field... we now only have one C-Dale left... the rest are Santa Cruz and Intense :(

  • Shame on Dorel - I dont consider them real Canadians- just real GREEDY.

  • what is the different between american made and asian made?guys guys, think back.shimano gears is from japan.japan is one of asia too rite? and dont you all ever heard of QC(quality control)? even they are made in the us or in africa or in asia,it will has the same quality coz big company`s like cannondale are very strict in quality.

  • @azuma83 Thats not the point. The point is they are outsourcing hundreds of jobs to Taiwan to save 4 million a year. This is corporate greed. Of course taiwan can make good products. But their employees work just for the money with no pride in the product at all.

  • This sucks! I love Cannondale. I have a M800 from 95, and it's still good. Last monday I boght a Flash F1 2010 model. It's a aluframe and handmade in USA, one of the very last. I feel sorry for those skilled people who is loosing their jobs. If Dorel made record profit in 08, why move Cannondale to asia?, it's greed. The very last bike with soul is no more.

  • @Marsteintoppen Dorel's revenue for 2010 was $2.484 BILLION!! And they want to outsource all manufacturing, wipe out some 200+ jobs, and crush a small town to save $4 mil? Then pay sweatshop employees $2 an hour to make bikes they will sell for $1000. I couldn't agree more-it's all corporate greed! And just watch, Dorel own Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, and Roadmaster, all of which you can buy at Walmart, don't be surprised if in time you see Cannondale there too. And the quality will be long gone!

  • Moving out production is one of the main reasons why USA is going down. Check out Richard Wolff speaks about the current economic crises, its' roots and what we can do about it. Capitalism Hits the Fan - Richard Wolff on youtube(dot)com/watch?v=TZU3wfjtIJY&feature=share

  • i own a 1996 and 1992 cannondale beast of the east i love em, and of the cannondale workers past and present i stand in awe of you all, how many companies made bikes and clothes themselves 1 cannondale,so dorel thanks for nothing you bunch of greedy bastards , i hope im around when you bite the fucking dust , HAND MADE IN TAIWAN BOLLOCKS, HANDMADE IN USA RULES thanks from wales uk.

  • I would buy a Cannondale no matter what the cost======UNTIL NOW !!!

  • Cannondale will now use Asian slave labor to make bikes at 1/4th the cost, but still charge the same prices for their bikes.

  • so there s no reason to purchase a cannondale. just another frame made in china

  • The dales will keep their quality.

  • @myst503 That is NOT the point!

  • Wow, talk about the destruction of a formerly fantastic brand name. I guess now I can finally start my business of making hand made aluminum framed bicycles........and just think I learned to mig weld about 3 weeks ago. Just need to learn to Tig weld now and I can corner the market. Bad move! The corp. Dorel must not understand what customer loyalty is all about.........oh well.

  • tragic, the same happened in the uk with raleigh, holdsworth, dawes, sturmey archer etc. and your right, the product will end up as a supermarket brand.

  • cannondale will be built 100% in taiwan. and will be designed and engeneered by a unified conglomerate that designes mongoose, gt, and schwinn. dorel is a digusting company. and im not even politically against all outsourcing entirelly. its the fact that they are outsourcing 100% and designing and engineering them by the same people that make mongoose. dont buy a cannondale and it hurts me to say that because i love my cannondale. but 2010 on they will be sweatshop garbage like mongoose.
