@theactordavidbath I don't mean that Little Richard is a rank amateur. I only mean that I miss great entertainers like Tom and Richard who really entertained us years ago. The rank amateurs of today would include the people that appear on "train wreck" programming such as reality shows. I just have a low opinion of them.
@gdwmontg Ah, I see. Yeah, I don't mind a bit of train wreck tv being about, but an American friend of mine was watching American Idol avidly and I when I told him it was rubbish, he said "I think this is what people listen to these days"! I was so sad! There's still a lot of great musicians about and people have that kind of rubbish shoved in their faces. Boooo.
FANTASTIC!!!!JUST FANTASTIC. TWO GIANTS PERFORMING. SURPASSED THE RATING SCALE ha! ha! What voices, really this makes my day. Their voices can make anyone smile. THANKS
Love this combo - When I die and go to heaven I can say I was already there when I saw both Little Richard and Tom Jones in person (both in Vegas, and separately). They were both older but had lost none of this magic!!!!
I know, wow. I really didn't know Tom could sing like that but then he's pre-my era since I'm 23. (don't let it fool you though most of my musical background is pre-my life lol)
Tom Jones wisely had Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis on his TV show. And we all know his friendship with Elvis. So cool, that they chose to do this relatively underrated classic.
"man, where u from? Mars? Tom Jones is good, but little richard is another galaxy" - Dirk
FU&% YEAH!!!! The "originay-ta", the architect, the unsung king, the original rock n roll rebel!!!
See that dude playing the piana right there ? That`s the kernel, the original DNA, the dude that got the SH%$ rollin, the Tommy Jefferson of our glorious rock n roll revolution mofos!!!! If that SH%$ don getcha toe tappin, you`re either a Nazi or clinically dead (same FU&%IN` thing).
Little Richard in my opinion is much more dynamic than most of the singers out there .. Only people that can stand close are Elvis, Ray, Aretha Franklin, Robert Plant, Charlie Brown, Michael Jackson, and theres more but he is the most animated still....
Elvis was a very outstanding singer .. he had a very distinctic style that is so memorable and unique... I think you are underestimating him.. He is considered the king and he will be remembered forever...
laaaaame. Elvis had his merits- he was pretty, and soulful, but I find his style very affected and insincere (some of his stuff I love don't get me wrong), and he doesn't belong with the greats.
i agree 100% , i like fast paced rock n' roll listen to little richard all the time, elvis is good for a song or two but not close in abiltiy to LR, not to mention what LR could do on the piano.
@ensconse I know Elvis range, tho Tom sang higher notes in his career, most of his ballads are by far higher than Elvis songs, just listen Ive Been Loving You Too Long, Tom hits sustained High D, which is 2 notes higher than Elvis ever hit. But yes i am also Elvis fan... He was something that mankind will never see again. But just little fact that Tom could have been one of the greatest singers in opera, but he refused training, it was big shock to his Soprano who checked him early on his career
Tom Jones had a more powerful upper range and he could sustain with great vibrato.
But Elvis had a great *voice*, meaning he could do more with it, and he could inject different feelings and different moods. Tom's approach is somewhat monotonous - he sings blues or ballads, etc., it's reallthe same sound.
Play Elvis' Tonight Is So Right For Love, then One Night ('50s rec.), then That's Someone You Never Forget. Tom. TJ would make them all sound like Delilah.

@ensconse That's absolutely true! Compare Jailhouse rock and Blue suede shoes, don´t be cruel an heartbreak hotel, love me tender and are you lonesome tonight, teddy bear and one night with you. And then It´s now or never and suspicious minds. All the songs with a different voice, but...it´s the same person: Elvis.
