It's as if he started to believe his own hype that he was the baddest man on the planet and could just go toe to toe and knock Klitschko out. If he'd fought with the same gameplan as the Valuev fight he could have won a points victory.

If Haye was half as good as you seem to think he is, then he would have toughed it out like a fighter and it wouldn't have made that much of a difference. Try walking on a broken toe, nevermind fighting on one...Klitschko got very lucky on the night, how circumstance prevailed, but on another night he wouldn't be so lucky...watching the fight, it becomes clear that Klitschko didn't have the speed to seriously trouble Haye, evading attack after attack with his hands down...so many times in that fight, Haye had time and opportunity to unload, but just didn't have the balance

David Haye is a small heavyweight who put his hands down and stuck his chin out several times to a powerful giant and still didn't get knocked out which shows he has more skill than 90 something percent of heavyweight fighters. Before this fight I didn't like him but he earned respect from anyone who has fought before or has above average intelligence.
