@smbmadman1 Well, they were pirates themselves (legal ones, however), but yeah, the cartridges were imported mainly from The People's Republic or whereever they come from.
@smbmadman1 Well, according to the press of those times, Steepler has actually made a deal with Nintendo on importing such consoles (and games for them) as SNES, GameBoy and Virtual Boy. The question about how Nintendo let a famiclone go through their eyes (considering that famiclones weren't legal back then) remaines unsolved, however...
The word they use for 'newb' in this video. The guy is talking about how experienced gamers etc. etc., and then he uses a word I'm curious about. It sounded like what I wrote, but I doubt that's the word because none of the roots match the typical Russian words for 'new'.
Holy shit is this a Russian TV program about pirated games? MY GOD UPLOAD MORE MORE MORE!!!!!! It's so awesome to listen to him talk about this stuff and learn words for some of these things.
LOL! It's like they never new about a pirate's history!

@CrashNicker Which is ironic, considering that's what they seem to be focusing on the most

I swear I can hear Megaman X's Credits theme in the background when that Russian guy is talking in the beginning of the video.

Start listening around 1:21, he'll use it there. It's the word for newb. I MUST KNOW IT. I totally want to pull it out on my friends.

@CrashNicker
Actually, sounds like the word (in nominative) is новичка. I can hear it better now. Is that the word he uses there?
ComparativeAnatomy1 1 year ago
@ComparativeAnatomy1 Oh, actually it's 'novichok (новичок)' in the infinitive. And yes, it may be directly translated as 'a beginner'.

It would've been even more hilarious if he'd found the SNES version of Joe & Mac...
