The word they use for 'newb' in this video. The guy is talking about how experienced gamers etc. etc., and then he uses a word I'm curious about. It sounded like what I wrote, but I doubt that's the word because none of the roots match the typical Russian words for 'new'.

Actually, sounds like the word (in nominative) is новичка. I can hear it better now. Is that the word he uses there?
