Here's the problem with your argument - we're not talking about private institutions here. We're talking about public airwaves. I am as staunch a defender of the First Amendment as you, but this is not a first amendment issue. I'm not saying a private institution shouldn't be able to promote it's views, but that if it uses the PUBLIC airwaves to do so, then in the public interest, alternate views should be offered on the same wavelength. Which BTW is the purpose of the FCC.

The FCC grants the right to broadcast on a given frequency. since there are many freqs available, the FCC does not, and should not micromanage an individual frequency. doing so would violate the first amendment by controlling access to audiences.

a better solution is to re-implement the anti-trust laws dismantled under clinton that made it illegal to own more than one form of media in any given city.

the bigger problem of media is that only 6 corporations control 99% of the media in america.

First of all, I agree with you about the problem of media ownership, the anti-trust laws need to be reinstated. However I disagree about the FCC. As you said, the FCC grants the right to broadcast on any given frequency. On what basis? As it happens, on the basis of a promise to broadcast in the public's interest, on their airwaves. So, they get to profit from our airwaves so long as they use them responsibly. I do not consider one sided lie facotries like Faux News to be responsible.
