I love the song, but I'm trying to understand why people think the movie was scary ._. That movie was seriously not at all scary. Not one bit. Although, it did show how incredibly smart killers can be. :b
I was way, way too high when I went to see this movie, expecting a shitty slasher flick. I got way more than I bargained for. And the worst part was listening to this skipping over and over and over and not being able to block the sound out. I didn't sleep for days...
My sister her friend and i were watching this movie at like one in the morning and they screamed so much! and when mama tried came on they were like "I know this song why do i- OH MY GOD WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!!"
i just watched this yesterday and if you watch from the time the girl knocks on the door to the end you can see like a different family member in different cenes i saw the father in the part where the girl was in the kitchen...he looked confused
Actually it never really happened, the idea for the movie came from director Bryan Bertino's childhood in which these people came to his door asking for someone who didn't live in his house. It turned out they were going door to door & if nobody answered, then they'd break in and rob the place.
guys i need ur help. Theres a song in this movie and it plays on the record player i swear. its a girl singing and it sounds really dated and old about how her heart broke the day that he said goodbye. Help please!!(: its alwasy stuck in my head!
the strangers was strange LOL but it did have alot of suspense so i'll see the sequel but i was dissapointted of the ending in the first one i was hoping for like a really strange twist like they were multiple personalitys or something
in the fil the mask guy in the pc scartes the crap outta the woman and she k noks the record player and it loops at the quicksilver girl bit its rly creepy
this is scary, i mean just think, it's 4 oclock in the morning and you are living in a isolated area and this what's happaning!!!!! and all of those songs in the movie , the director knows how to scare
When I saw this movie, I noticed the clock in the background said 4 o'clock, and I couldn't believe it! I thought either it was a mistake or it was gonna be a short movie. You know, because usually they're stuck somewhere all night and they have to wait until morning, so we have 6 - 8 hours compacted into 1½ - 2 hours. So, you figure sunrise is at 6 or 7? So that means almost every minute was in it. Like you were living it with them.
@frenchskila Exactly, there hasn't been a movie since the Exorcist that has been even close to being scary until THIS movie, it (to me) will go down as one of the all time scary movies, and the soundtrack really gave it that rustic 70's feel to it to go along with that outdated summer home........classic!
In the movie the husband isn't really there it's their friend and he comes and gets killed by the couple because they're holding a gun and kill him thinking he's the killer.
This is one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie when the Man in the Mask is sneaking up behind Mike. I just wonder if Mike didn't walk in front of the door and get killed, would the Man in the Mask have gotten his head blown off instead? Or was he aware that the victims were waiting to shot him and that's why he allowed Mike to go in front of him?
hmmm, i thought that the man in the mask probably knew he was gonna get shot when he walked in the room, otherwise im pretty sure he would have killed him right away...im not sure, but the man in the mask was probably walking behind him because maybe he wanted to see if they were in that room (or maybe it was just 4 a scary effect, lol) very good movie though, i keep hearing rumors that they are makin a 2nd one...that would be sweet!
@BlackFalcon127 i don't think he was to worried about getting shot i think he did know they had a gun but he didn't know what room they were in and if mike didn't get shot by the end of the hall he would have just killed him. but i don't think he would have killed them right then and there i think the masked people were fucking with them for the fun of it.
@ScandinavianMustang I think he was using Mike as bait to try and find the couple but just in case they weren't in that room, when Mike turned around,he would be killed. That's why the man had the ax.That's just what i've always thought.I love this movie so much and no matter how many times I watch it,I still get really scared.
When it says "based on true events", it means the story was culminated from a series of stories. Charles Manson, the Cabin 28 killings, and a couple terrorized in the same style in the Czech Republic. These events have the most similarities.
And the director admitted to this.
So no I am not full of shit.
True events, but not a true story. So don't worry about a fake masked trio stalking you at night, just worry about the real psychos.
You are definately right, but however it seems that this Czech Republic murders about a couple killed in the woods while trying to run they're own home was all made up, there's no information on the internet about those murders except sites which writes about the strangers and it's "Inspired by true events"
Whats so great about her saying "Quick Silver Girl"? Like I'm not bashing it I just dont understand was the song played backwards or what? I'ma little confused.(I havent seen the strangers but want too!)
what makes the line unique in the movie is the fact that it is entirely isolated and taken from this context so that it takes on an almost unnerving and eerie tone and sets the atmosphere when the house is being broken into. For me , personally, it was the juxtaposition of the potentially upbeat song with the idea of an unprovoked home invasion.
watch the movie soon times, it's difficult not to love it.
a note, she says quicksilver girl several times, the one used in the movie is at 3:03, cause the other times she says it the banjo playing in the backround is different
...love this song..but I find it so hard to listen to on my iPod when I'm alone in the house...
