  • ...love this song..but I find it so hard to listen to on my iPod when I'm alone in the house...

  • this isnt that scary like this song... ''Merle Haggard - Mama Tried ''' 'fucking song made the movie scary as fuck T_T

  • lovely! :D

  • I just keep hitting 5 on my keyboard and freaking myself out

  • @MeanT241985 omg that was on the trailer...im freaking out!!!!!!!!

  • Funny how the words quicksilver girl could be so scary :(

  • the end of the movie was extremely disturbing

  • I love the song, but I'm trying to understand why people think the movie was scary ._. That movie was seriously not at all scary. Not one bit. Although, it did show how incredibly smart killers can be. :b

  • I was way, way too high when I went to see this movie, expecting a shitty slasher flick. I got way more than I bargained for. And the worst part was listening to this skipping over and over and over and not being able to block the sound out. I didn't sleep for days...

  • My sister her friend and i were watching this movie at like one in the morning and they screamed so much! and when mama tried came on they were like "I know this song why do i- OH MY GOD WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!!"

  • This really scarred me for life..it scared the living hell out of me..

  • 3:02 is a second too early...

I'll try and hit 3:03 repeatedly xD

  • i never got this movie , i thought it was practically stupid

  • lol. Thanks for posting. :D

  • hahah the guy in front is like . . ."Fuck my life... "

  • this song in the movie gave me chills

  • i just watched this yesterday and if you watch from the time the girl knocks on the door to the end you can see like a different family member in different cenes i saw the father in the part where the girl was in the kitchen...he looked confused

  • Actually it never really happened, the idea for the movie came from director Bryan Bertino's childhood in which these people came to his door asking for someone who didn't live in his house. It turned out they were going door to door & if nobody answered, then they'd break in and rob the place.

  • Holy crap. My mum was listening to this in the other room, because she likes the song, and I just hear "3:03" and I crapped myself.

  • The only two reasons that this is scary is because this really did happen and two is that they were never caught

  • Keep pushing the number 5 key and you can make the loop yourself ;)

  • This, Momma Tried and The Sprout and the Bean are genius songs for this movie. The makers of The Strangers really knew how to choice creepy songs.

  • But the other freakier song from The Strangers is called "Sprout and Bean" now THAT song is freaky. Look it up on here.

  • @PWhiteproductions It's called "Sprout and Bean" by Joanna Newsom

  • @PWhiteproductions i know right !! i looked it up .. and the girl IS so scary omg and the video .. i just peed

  • 3:03

  • well hey i mean its a good thing the strangers had a sense of humor

    with mama tried lol

  • I just guessed the song title from wikipedia and it was right

  • there is a part in this film where she tries on the engagement ring does anybody know what the song is in the background of that part

  • @dreadlockchris1 sprout and the bean by joanna newsom

  • @misskt32 thankyou very much my gf has been searching for it thanks again

  • I want to hear more songs that have like acustics like these i never new a banjo could be badass lol

  • I want to hear more songs that have like acustics like these

  • scott speedman is cute :)

  • what kind of musik is this ? i like it ^-^

  • Umm Merle Haggard mama tried was the song playing during the morning of this happening on the record player made it sound creapy

  • @ModXowned you are right. this song was played when liv tyler was flipping her shit in the bedroom before scott speedman returns from buying cigs.

  • it's at 1:46 and 1:54, too

  • awesome!

  • lmao at the picture

  • keep clicking the 3:02 alot and it gets really creepy

  • nice song

    nice movie !

    the strangers ...! ☠

  • My speakers make everything sound like chipmucks, and this is is hilarious with a chipmuck voice...... :P

  • I really do love this song.

  • HAHAHHAHA OMG THATS WHAT IT SAYS! i have always wondered! im soo happy i found that out for some reason, that i nearly pooped myself

  • guys i need ur help. Theres a song in this movie and it plays on the record player i swear. its a girl singing and it sounds really dated and old about how her heart broke the day that he said goodbye. Help please!!(: its alwasy stuck in my head!

  • the song is by Joanna Newsom - Sprout and the Bean

  • the strangers was strange LOL but it did have alot of suspense so i'll see the sequel but i was dissapointted of the ending in the first one i was hoping for like a really strange twist like they were multiple personalitys or something

  • i dont understand why "quick silver girl" in the lyrics is freaky? i dont understand is there something behind this?

  • in the fil the mask guy in the pc scartes the crap outta the woman and she k noks the record player and it loops at the quicksilver girl bit its rly creepy

  • quicksilver girl is a steve miller song. and she says "just a record playing that old steve miller song....quicksilver girl, quicksilver girl."

  • this is scary, i mean just think, it's 4 oclock in the morning and you are living in a isolated area and this what's happaning!!!!! and all of those songs in the movie , the director knows how to scare

  • sure does, haha, just having this song playing over and over again on that record player was scary

  • i almost pooped when that song looped in the movie theatre during the trailer

  • When I saw this movie, I noticed the clock in the background said 4 o'clock, and I couldn't believe it! I thought either it was a mistake or it was gonna be a short movie. You know, because usually they're stuck somewhere all night and they have to wait until morning, so we have 6 - 8 hours compacted into 1½ - 2 hours. So, you figure sunrise is at 6 or 7? So that means almost every minute was in it. Like you were living it with them.

  • @simplicitylost yea thats one of the things i love about the about the movie....set in real time length

  • @frenchskila Exactly, there hasn't been a movie since the Exorcist that has been even close to being scary until THIS movie, it (to me) will go down as one of the all time scary movies, and the soundtrack really gave it that rustic 70's feel to it to go along with that outdated summer home........classic!

  • wow that was a good song. and the movie was great

  • In the movie the husband isn't really there it's their friend and he comes and gets killed by the couple because they're holding a gun and kill him thinking he's the killer.

  • It gave me chills when I heard her say that.... it was like a flash back. O_O

  • LOL The picture is so funny, he is just standing there like all relaxed, and Man in Mask is about to kill him lol

  • This is one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie when the Man in the Mask is sneaking up behind Mike. I just wonder if Mike didn't walk in front of the door and get killed, would the Man in the Mask have gotten his head blown off instead? Or was he aware that the victims were waiting to shot him and that's why he allowed Mike to go in front of him?

  • hmmm, i thought that the man in the mask probably knew he was gonna get shot when he walked in the room, otherwise im pretty sure he would have killed him right away...im not sure, but the man in the mask was probably walking behind him because maybe he wanted to see if they were in that room (or maybe it was just 4 a scary effect, lol) very good movie though, i keep hearing rumors that they are makin a 2nd one...that would be sweet!

  • @BlackFalcon127 i don't think he was to worried about getting shot i think he did know they had a gun but he didn't know what room they were in and if mike didn't get shot by the end of the hall he would have just killed him. but i don't think he would have killed them right then and there i think the masked people were fucking with them for the fun of it.

  • @ScandinavianMustang I think he was using Mike as bait to try and find the couple but just in case they weren't in that room, when Mike turned around,he would be killed. That's why the man had the ax.That's just what i've always thought.I love this movie so much and no matter how many times I watch it,I still get really scared.

  • what is that other "momma cried" one called.

    ANYONE.

  • It's actually called "Mamma tried" and it's by Merle Hagard.

  • Momma Tried by Merle Hagard

  • in the movie i thought it was skipping on the word "crimson", which would've been kind of cool...

  • dude, wth?

  • just ignore him, he has nothing to do..

  • The movie really isn't a true story.

When it says "based on true events", it means the story was culminated from a series of stories. Charles Manson, the Cabin 28 killings, and a couple terrorized in the same style in the Czech Republic. These events have the most similarities.

And the director admitted to this.

So no I am not full of shit.

True events, but not a true story. So don't worry about a fake masked trio stalking you at night, just worry about the real psychos.

  • one thing is based on true events, and one inspired by true events

  • You are definately right, but however it seems that this Czech Republic murders about a couple killed in the woods while trying to run they're own home was all made up, there's no information on the internet about those murders except sites which writes about the strangers and it's "Inspired by true events"

  • it's all marketing...

  • lol

  • lol so if theres someone watching me i'll just ignore them hahahaha!

    masked trio lol hi

  • thats a good song

  • quick silver girl la la la

  • the movie the strangers was awesome it was a true story

  • its not a true story its inspired by true events

  • Whats so great about her saying "Quick Silver Girl"? Like I'm not bashing it I just dont understand was the song played backwards or what? I'ma little confused.(I havent seen the strangers but want too!)

  • what makes the line unique in the movie is the fact that it is entirely isolated and taken from this context so that it takes on an almost unnerving and eerie tone and sets the atmosphere when the house is being broken into. For me , personally, it was the juxtaposition of the potentially upbeat song with the idea of an unprovoked home invasion.

watch the movie soon times, it's difficult not to love it.

  • i love this movie soooo much

  • SO CREEPY thanks for posting this :)

  • a note, she says quicksilver girl several times, the one used in the movie is at 3:03, cause the other times she says it the banjo playing in the backround is different
