@devoidfrog at the beginning of dbz he is much weaker than goku and piccolo. when the saiyans arrived he is about as strong as radtiz i think. after training with king kai he is strong enough to take on recoome without breaking a sweat. during the whole android saga you only see him get pwned by 19 then he is out most of the series until he fights cell jr but it hard to tell if they were just toying with them or not. after that 7 years pass and he doesnt train and gets alot weaker so not strong

The only reason why I can't vouch for Yamcha entirely is because he got more screentime to fight in DB rather DBZ.
