I definitely love the original movie and musical adaptation on equal terms because they are both suberb in how they portray the story. I applaud Daldry for re-inventing this scene though in the play by showing both Billy's anger juxtaposed with the protest going on.

Also to create the sound they can add studs to the bottom of the the boots, similar to the counter weights for the tires, but with nails instead of the clips,

Yeah. I'm in total awe over the talents of all the billies. England will be blessed in years to come with a pool of exceptionally talented and well trained actors/dancers. Of course, a movie and a musical are very different beasts requiring very different talents. However, Jamie Bell, Liam Mower, Kiril Kulish are exceptional. Bell because of what he made of a very low budget film (it only cost £5m after all). Mower and Kulish because of how they grew in the musical.

Yes I've seen it ... did you seen see the film? The show was really good. However, I was born a grew up on the Durham coalfield and I was part of the pogrom Maggie Thatcher launched against coal miners. There is lip service, but frankly the show was exactly that, a showcase for dance, not social commentary. Definitely missing the message.

normally i prefer things on the stage, but all the boys who play billy are all classically trained in ballet, and don't give such an honest and raw performance as jaimie bell did.

I disagree.On youtube I've seen preformances by two of the billy's-liam mower and leon cooke they seemed like real billy's to be-liam had only been doing ballet 6 months.The stage production really brought something to billy elliot!

I actually disagree. i love the stage show verison, i think it really gets to me becuase the anger is so much and the music realy goes with it. plus the tap skills in it are amazing. and the truth is that some of the billys hadnt actually done ballet before the started the show, or for a very short time.
