I just heard of this song 2 days ago. And a quick google search for "Suedehead lyrics" does not substantiate your claim. Unless everyone else is wrong, yes, it does say "it was a good lay" and not "it was too late." Besides, the number of syllables doesn't quite fit.

That summer, I got accepted to an arts camp in a bigger city, and I met other kids who had asymmetrical haircuts and wore all black. We danced to this song on the roof of the library.
