The application "works" on 6210 Nav. However, it does not accurately show magnetic North. I believe it is off by 22 degree (to the left).

A good application nevertheless (at least i don't have to open Ovi Map for compass). Please have a look at this issue.

Well, have the Compass Application on my N97 too, but it says Signal Strength : BAD! doesn´t change...

are you really using that stylus like pen???

You need to "calibrate" your phone like in the video to get a good signal.

No it can't because 5800XM does not have inbuilt hardware compass.

this is for s60v3 ... does this also work on an inbuilt compass hardware or purely gps+accelerometer ..coz its not mentioned in the wiki.. if the later is the case then maybe it can be ported to 5800 (s60v5) ...as of now this too is not working ...any ideas

No that example does not use inbuilt compass, it uses only GPS coordinates. It works also on phones which do not have a compass. That example is written for the S60 3rd edition fp1, but I think it might work on S60 5th edition too.

Note that application shows correct results only when you are moving. If you are standing still then you can't really get compass direction using GPS because direction of movement is calculated from difference of GPS coordinates.

5800 does not have the Compass Sensor, so it won't work on 5800.

I learned that it works on 6210 and 6220 beside N97

Who cares how it looks like? It's much more important that it works. Do your traditional separate compass look attractive? No it does not, traditional compasses are boring piece of plastic but they do work.
