check out ulver some time. very acquired taste but some songs are really good at first. also xploding plastix is very good too. both are former black metal artists but now make some very unique, interesting electronica. but they're both from norway and possibly the black metal appreciation background gives them an interesting edge.
i like a lot of metal; gothic, doom, thrash, etc, except for the hardcore and power/glam type stuff...but then i got kind of into the electronica bit as well as jazz at the same time just recently. i've always been generally liked jazz and techno and stuff if it was of particular taste, but i just never got into them fully like i did metal and now i'm starting to listen to it more. some of these electronica artists are crazy good, but then again, I wish they played instruments instead of vinyls.
I like the oldies better, even though I'm 18. I love The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Rush, Steve Miller Band, AC/DC... I know some of them aren't that old, but to me at least, most of them were popular before I was even born. Then again, "old" is only based off of one's own age.
Excellent selection! A lot of those names bring back some memories. I've got most of them, so I'll definitely check out the ones I don't have.
I also bought my first CD before I had a CD player. It was Cypress Hill's Black Sunday. My tastes have evolved quite a ways from there now. Listening to guys rap about how tough they are an how they regularly kill people in cold blood lost its appeal at some point.
Great selection mate. Seems almost as eclectic a taste as mine! Kudos for ACDC, but it begs the question... Bon Scott or Brian Johnson era, which is best? Being as he comes from about 5 minutes from where I do, I gotta go with Brian!
dudebro, this is more helpful than you know. I spend most of my listening time on winamp radio, and when something really epic comes on, I frantically record the precious sounds. As a result of years of this, I have hundreds of 1-2 hour DJ mixes, and I don't know who the hell actually made the music I'm loving so much. Your Artist/Album rundown finally put some names to some of my fave sounds.
It took me 4 years to track down µ-ziq's Phiesope and 3 to find Solar Fields-Small Little Green Cubes.
I feel your pain. Shazam for the iPhone can identify some songs, but it's mostly aimed at the top 100 which are widely known already, so what's the point?
That website is awesome for finding new music. They have a leveling up system that's fun. Give it a try, or not. I'm currently addicted to it. Lots of great unknown talent with free downloads. :)
I liked your videos before this, but I'm subing simply for your musical taste

ASKEGG!
Hmm... sounds a bit like my flavour, It's also all over the place but always finds it roots in electronic music.
My recomendations for you to checkout:
Junkie XL -albums: "Saturday teenage kick" and "Radio JXL: a broadcast from the computer hell cabin"
Conjure one -album:"Extraordinary ways"
anything from Chemical Brothers(but you already know 'em)
Apollo 440 -album: "gettin high on your own supply"
Thank you!

If you like it hard, rough and exciting go with Junkie XL "Saturday teenage kick" album, tune "underachievers" total kickass tune.
If you want something a bit softer and really sweet go with conjure one.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have heard some of Junkie Xl's stuff - will have a closer look.

Jarre? Yep, for the longest time. A friend of mine saw him live in London and said it was the most awesome thing she has ever been to.
askegg 2 years ago
No vinyl? Feel young!
And I'm pretty sure the "e" in "Jarre" is silent. At least he doesn't pronounce it himself.
Excellent taste I have to say. Cheers mate!

Yeah, no idea why I pronounced it "JarrE". Oh well.
