Disney can do no wrong. I'm so sorry this is when I "grew out of" Disneyland stage shows. I used to watch the Beauty and the Beast one EVERY SINGLE time I went to Disneyland. My parents probably hated me for wasting their time...
I just cried right at the climax of the opening song, I can't believe this has touched me the same as the original film, I think this is a testament of how amazing the actor that portrays Clopin is. Bravo!
I saw this for the first time when I was about 2 and for the last time when I was like 8ish. It was the best show there. Why'd it go???? It was so AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 <3 Ah. I am forever depresssed. Oh and this was my favorite part :D
I don't think that Clopin and the main characters would be, maybe the cast but as I remeber about the film in this show clopin holds his notes longer than in the film :D :Dbut don't quote me on it
I like how they did the most AMAZING stage montage possible, with so many layers and actors changing scenes and such, but the crowd is clapping so half-assed
@XxSora145xX Theme park crowds are notorious for being lazy audiences. I worked at both Disney and Universal for many years and I can tell you, we gave each show everything we had... and frankly, the audiences always sucked. There's just too much going on in the parks to be able to hold their attention for more than a couple of minutes.
I saw this at MGM studios when I was little and this was so amazing to watch in person. It's sad that the most powerful, brilliant and beautiful Disney movie ever made is also the most underrated and the most hidden away.
I saw this show only 1 time but was captivated from start to finish. By the time I went back to MGM it was gone and I was so disappointed. This was the best and probably only Disney show I really thought was special. Everything about it from the puppets, stage, actors, music - all of it was in a class of its own compared to anything else Disney does stage related.
i seriously LOVE how it dramaticaly switches from puppets to LEGIT!!! It's amazing and i love how she just collapses...and he rides in...so realistic!!! I LOVE IT!!
Most people will probably agree with me when I ask this, "How in the hell is this not on Broadway yet in the U.S?!" Seriously! Its Broadway material! C'mon now!
Uwow I remember seeing this myself when I went to Disney. I enjoyed every minute of it mind you Hunchback has always been one of my fave Disney movies Beauty and the Beast being the other. I totally agree with other people who've said this Hunchback needs to go on Broadway
I can't thank you enough for posting these. I saw this show when I was 4 and I fell in love with it. I'm 18 now and I can't wait to see it on Broadway!
thankyou for posting this, i enjoyed this show so much back in the day. i thought it was lost forever, you have brought back sone very happy memeories.
actually it did go on broadway :) in germany.... it lasted for a month or two before closing... despite its fantastic reviews... the soundtrack is available but its in german and there's no english adaptation of it....
But i do agree with you... They need to adapt it to American broadway... it has a very good chance of making it longer than tarzan
Probably not. The stunt show is still there, but the stage isn't the right design to be the same. And the stunt show has been there longer than Hunchback of Notre Dame has been around.
I believe the show was open sometime around 1996 when the Hunchback of Notre Dame animated film debuted. The Backlot Theater is now a storage area with the facade of San Francisco.
This was incredibly well staged considering the limitations of the area the performers had to work in but that's the magic of Disney, I guess! I was lucky enough to see it twice, and the second time was the final ever performance they did :( Clopin gave his all in that show ... he was amazing!
This was an amazing show I remeber watching this when i was little, It was my absloute favorite Im so mad they got rid of it AND replaced it with Lights Motors Action (I cnt stand tht show!) I alos LOVE the movie its amazing and has a very good moral
Clopin is such an amazing singer.. whoever played him.. both in this play and the actual movie.. whenever he sings bells of notre dame just give me the chills and i my jaw just hits rock bottom when he reaches that high note at the end.. I LOVE THIS SONG!
oh my god thank u so much for posting this this is and always will b my favorite disney show (even though its not there anymore) and it has very nice quality
I so miss this live production. Everything from techs to performers was absolutely outstanding! Great job all of you who participated in this wonderful show!
I listened to the first performance of this EVER when it was first presented(to Guests)...because there were too many people in line for me to see it. I waited in line for it to see the 2nd show ever, in the hot sun because back then (and still now) there is no cover in that area. I am so glad they have done something with that buidling now, because it was left vacant for far too long. Thank you so much for posting this.
this ... was quite epic actually

The transition from the puppets to the live actors as the mother collapses to the ground is flawless.
