Oh yeah? A buddy and me filled a squirt bottle full of wine, went trick or treating, and got chased off a neighbor's lot when we were about to do naughty things to a girl that wandered into our sphere of influence. CSB
Thinking that in 1986 all that was popular was cheesy stuff like Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, etc, and these guys came with such a different sound, so un-superfluous, so raw, so low-profile, that it must have been quite a shock and a breath of fresh air at the same time, for who'd listen them.
this 86- way ahead of its time- doesnt sound like the 80s i grew up in- which i loved but shucks new wave and glam and guns n roses- this is grunge punk art music par excellence. Black Francis is barely 21 here. hes like some mythical creature that springs to life fully formed and ready to write the sickest dopest most timeless rock perfection ever. theres no early sound to these guys. the first and last songs were all insanely good.
One of the things that make me appreciate the Pixies as much as I do is the fact that they look like normal human beings in a time when everyone looked like a bunch of fucking retards
two times of many times i watched this video in full screen, pixies caused my windows blue death screen :D thats the power of the pixies, best band ever
I never thought Francis could have been that thin. He should have laid off those cream cakes. What a great performance for '86. Clearly just starting out..
Frank's birth name is Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson the 4th. Kim Deal went by Mrs. John Murphy, though Tanya Donelly was a member of the Breeders (which Kim later fronted).
Thumbs up if you're watching in 1987

charles is his real name

huh, had no idea.
hexrei 4 years ago
His real name is something outrageous like Charles Kingsley Thompson the third or something! I think his family had a bit of money...
Kim Deal used to go by her married name - in a wierd way - mrs John Donnely or something, if memory serves me well.
They were wierd...

for the record kim deal was Mrs. John Murphy
