@5tateOfEmergency It would be weird if it DIDN'T :D That's what they were trying to do, they didn't even tell one of the actresses that there was going to be blood etc. bursting out so they would get an authentic reaction/scream for her - or something like that. I never found the "alien" itself all that scary, more like the "unknown terror in space" -thing. I always imagined the aliens were more like mice compared to what else was there. I'm so excited for Prometheus.

Looks like he's still alive for a few dozen seconds after the creature's out of him.

Makes the scene all the more horrifying, as before I've pictured him dying the INSTANT the creature burst through his rib cage.

@Tounushi People don't often "die" instantly. You may lose consciousness and all hope of surviving, but unless the damage is immense enough to literally pulverize you, some body functions are still active, even if you are dismembered.

When people who are fatally shot don't die instantly, and don't even lose consciousness for quite a while if they don't suffer brain damage. Shots to the stomach are especially gruesome, as the stomach acid will seep out into the body.

I meant that he woulda suffered a total systemic shock that would've locked him completely. In essence he'd be dead by most counts, but not quite yet by others.

If he's moving around like that (not merely twitching), he's more "alive" and I can't help but think if he's conscious on some level at that point; whether he feels agony and all that. It's more horrifying than the thought of shutting down at once.

Nah. The twitching of the hands is a nerve reaction, as seen in the more familiar cut of the scene, but the broader, slower movements are a sign of life. Plus his heart/random major artery was still pumping strong.

@TMundo actually they didn't shoot it in the film but theres a part in the script where one of the crew members find what appears to be a raided kitchen food storage cabinet, food was all over the floor. like the little freak munched down on lots of nutrients plus the blood from its host. then its compact silicon cell structure began to form and expand. hens the big beast.
