@thegoodlocust Christianity preceded Islam. Islam is, to be accurate, a reformation of Christianity. The only difference between the two is the matter of Christ's divinity. Christianity didn't reform itself. Martin Luther tried to reform Catholicism (a brand of Christianity), and the result was an expansion in the superficially-dissimilar denominations of Protestantism. Christianity controlled only Europe, then America. A quick visit to Asia or Africa will reveal Islam as a much greater force.
@Ematched No, your knowledge of history is woefully incomplete. There were several Christian reformations - the two most famous were the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Reformation. Islam is not a reformation of Christianity simply because it came at a later date. For one thing, as you say, Islam doesn't believe in the divinity of Christ, which would certainly be a requirement for any Christian religion.
Anyway, Christianity reformed because they had no one else to point fingers at.

Judaism begat Christianity, which begat Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Mormanism, Gnosticism, Baptists, Penecostals, etc.

Anyway, Islam and mormons are not "reformations" - you need to look up what a reformation actually means.

Yes, it is true that ottoman were secular in true sense. @thegoodlocust Christianity preceded Islam. Islam is, to be accurate, a reformation of Christianity. The only difference between the two is the matter of Christ's divinity. Christianity didn't reform itself. Martin Luther tried to reform Catholicism (a brand of Christianity), and the result was an expansion in the superficially-dissimilar denominations of Protestantism. Christianity controlled only Europe, then America. A quick visit to Asia or Africa will reveal Islam as a much greater force.

@Ematched No, your knowledge of history is woefully incomplete. There were several Christian reformations - the two most famous were the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Reformation. Islam is not a reformation of Christianity simply because it came at a later date. For one thing, as you say, Islam doesn't believe in the divinity of Christ, which would certainly be a requirement for any Christian religion.
Anyway, Christianity reformed because they had no one else to point fingers at.

The Qur'an is to the Bible what the Book of Morman is to the Bible: texts that amend what they perceive as misinterpretations of God's Will. Christianity is an extention of Judaism. All reformations simply amplify the diverse factions within the Abrahamic tradition. Judaism begat Christianity, which begat Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Mormanism, Gnosticism, Baptists, Penecostals, etc.
Islam is a revision of Christianity.

@Ematched The differences of course are that Judaism and Islam don't accept the divinity of Christ and therefore aren't Christian, while mormons do believe Jesus was the son of God and the Messiah. Hell, to continue your line of thought we can just call Christianity a "reformation" of Mithraism or the innumerable other religions it took parts from - including Greek mythology.
Anyway, Islam and mormons are not "reformations" - you need to look up what a reformation actually means.

Divinity is a big deal for the adherents of those religions, but it is a small portion of the overall ideology. On your other "point," give the Qur'an a read, as well as the supporting texts. A substantial portion of the early converts to Islam were Christians. Familiarize yourself with the original texts. @profasor That's a bogus claim about the prophet, considering that he neither read nor wrote at any point. Remember: he had scribes, to whom he dictated the text of the Qur'an. The appropriate translation for God's command to Muhamad was, "speak." As in, "repeat these words as I tell them to you." There was no writing involved, so he was still illiterate.
Math never entered the conversation about the prophets. The sole benefit Islam gave to civilization was an equitable number system.

You'll see huge majorities in populous muslim nations that support primitive and barbaric laws. The myth that most muslims aren't extremists is simply another example of PC-induced self-delusion. Hell, if the Aztecs were still around cutting out human hearts for their sun god (by the thousands) then they'd be excused by the media in the name of "tolerance" and "diversity."
