Does anyone know if this was peformed at the Tonic in NY in 2004? Because I downloaded a (different) song that was peformed at the Tonic in 2004 and at the end of it, the recording keeps going and Regina is saying "this is a really, really, really baby, baby song. It's only 3 days old. It's called Blue Lips". Then she plays a few chords, and messes up, and plays it again and then the recording cuts off. This could be the rest of it? Lol.
today at school the power went out. i was very frightend along with my friend together we listened to this song waiting to leave the classroom.thank you Regina for keeping our sanity
i never understood why so many people disliked the album version of this song...but now that i hear this one..i understand completely, this version has way more emotion
Best version of Blue Lips... god I'm going to see her in less than a week, I can hardly breath when I think about it!!! She's so wonderful, undescribable, love her with all my heart!
Atheist = Cultured, Acceptive, and very well educated. Generally don't believe in God because they base their beliefs on facts rather than faith.
I am not an atheist, by the way. I just hate close-minded people on either side. We all have our principles and beliefs based on our life experiences, who is anyone to judge?
and this is absolutely beautiful! Regina is amazing and captures every emotion in music, just her saying "Blue, the most human colour" makes me tingle
oh my god, thank you for that... I hope this comment can make this pointless discussion that's going on here stop now, so that people can enjoy the wonderful music instead :)
I agree with what you stated about close-mindedness.
I am agnostic, and i disagree -in the most friendly way - with what you stated about atheists. I see quite a lot of atheists being quite aggressive towards people who don't agree with their (non)faith. Especially online, they are almost militant about it, which puts the claim that they are acceptive to shame. I agree that acceptive people are often well educated, but being well educated is not exclusively for atheists.
@sillysillyface I was in no way implying theists to be uneducated, I'm sorry my post came off that way. I was actually responding to another person who was talking ill of atheists.
I'm also agnostic, and I do know what you're talking about. I wouldn't say that atheist's are the MOST militant, but quite a few do try there best to discredit others beliefs. But then again, so do some theists. No side is better.
Just food for thought. Have you ever considered that the deaf man gets to experience an entirely different world: one beautiful in it's own way? I've given both worlds a try to know which one I PERSONALLY prefer.

atheists are like people who follow organized religion, you don't understand life, the soul, energy, connectedness, and true reality. you are all a lost flock, one cannot gather the true nature of all until one deciphers for oneself, i cannot argue and make you understand, i cannot preach from a pedastal in a church to help you see the truth. but once you have closed your eyes to the world, you are as lost as the mindless masses huddled together every sunday commiserating there life that is fake
Maybe some atheists are but at least they don't have a God who approves of degrading behavior towards others and stereotyping. I don't think that behavior is appropriate for whatever religious background one has.
lol by definition the immature ones are those who reply to me without knowing what i am saying,or providing any type of rebute, you have not the insight or clout to pass judgement on my words, so just quiet down, son.
Atheist have faith. I believe in my own faith. I believe in the good of humanity and that people, despite their faults, are beautiful. I won't comment again I'm sorry for any trouble I've caused you and thanks for your insights : )
although i love this song inside and out, i also agree that this version is much more powerful than the album version. i'm not crazy about the added instruments...this is so raw and more regina-ish...i don't like when other people tamper.
but regina, i still love you, and far is brilliant.
Right, on the production side of the new album version, it is not badly produced - but there has been some bad decision-making which might not be from Regina herself. Got to remember, that the more famous you get, the more money there is at stake, so this might just be a case of too many cooks. As we know the artist does not always get the last say. Just remember why we all love her, it's all still there stunning voice, piano playing and that amazing song writing ability.
I personally like the version of this song with the violin and cello. I don't pariculary care for the drum and electric guitar in this song. I always thought this song was more fluid and heart felt. The guitar kinda takes away from that. But that's just my opinion.
I love how people always have Jeff Lynne comments. Bottom line, Reginna is brilliant and guess what? Jeff is beyond brilliant also. I guarantee you, Jeff co-wrote the chord structures, bridges and without question some of the melody lines she is brilliantly singing. He brings out the best in melody lines and songs. Producing is not just what drums are 'in' or 'not in'. Everything thing i've read from her and Jeff said her only thing she wouldn't allow was lyrical changes.
Jeff Lynne wrote none of the melody lines in this song. Regina has been performing this song for years. You can search the net for various performances of it to verify that he "without question" did not co-write some of the melody lines. As far as I can tell, the primary differences from the original version to the new version are the different drum beats and the electric guitar part. I don't know for sure, but since Jeff produced the song I am guessing these were his ideas.
actually in an interview i heard her say she doesnt ever let anyone touch her songs lol and she said jeff lynne tried to make her go one way but she wouldnt :) and im glad shedid
His production detracts from the original character of her song. It is misguided at best, and at worst, some calculated record label schlop to commercialize her brilliant song.
The new version with the cheesy surf guitar and machine produced wack drum beats are really making me angry! It sounds like some deranged love child of alternative music, and hippies.

I just heard it and I like both versions a lot... but the thing is (not that Iike it better) that I hope she releases the "official" version as a single, because I could see it having a lot of success and being played on the radio every five minutes, which I totally wouldn't mind with that amazing voice of hers.
