In the video, he mentions opening a gym in Roseville in a couple months. I assume he meant Ultimate Training Center being run by James Irvin and Scott Smith. Does anybody know the details of the fallout between them? The 3 used to train together and James and Scott used to be trainers at Ultimate Fitness back when it first opened. I heard James & Scott wanted independence or a bigger cut than Urijah since they were both UFC fighters at the time and supposedly a bigger draw? Any truth?
Doesn't really matter what anybody says. Urijah Faber is a class act. Whether he wins or if he loses he still has a smile on his face. So whoever likes to put him down say it to his face!
I don't care if he acts diffrent at a diffrent time, but I am scared the hell be fighting against him. he is the ultimate fighter of his generation, fucking period..no one can beat faber,no one has yet been born from his Muma,
don't know if you've been keeping up with the wec but mike brown rocked faber in november last year and took his belt. sorry to burst your bubble... not really
my uncle is an mma boxing trainer at his gym, he seems to think Urijah is a really good guy and I guess he would know seein' as he's around him day in day out
Penn would beat fabers ass... i got all the respect for faber, but penn is a world champ in the ufc at 155 and he is moving up to fight gsp at 170... before i even have a thought of faber beating penn he needs to beat griffin at 155. he wins he should fight penn, if not maybe he belongs at 145...
Urijah is a really good guy he is always at his gym in sac. I went there just this monday met him. He let me grapple on of his kids there. By the way I;m only 14. I went 5 rounds with this kid he trains. The kid was pankration champ it was really cool and pretty awesome meeting Urijah.
ok after seeing faber fight jens pulver he looks like he needs some conditioning!! Bj Penn is 2 tall and fast for faber 2 keep up.Faber was keeping his hands down like he is some fast bastard but he is far from that if he would fight BJ Penn the same way he fought pulver Penn would KO him first round
saying it wouldnt even be a contest thats just the BJ Penn fan in you speaking...you KNOW that Penn would not destroy Faber, he could win, but he wont destroy him..Faber is MUUUUCH better conditioned than BJ..id say that fight would go down to the cards.
Well he's going to fight Jens Pulver for sure. A PennvFaber fight would be cool though. I want to see him fight Tyson Griffin again and avenge his loss
tyson-faber would be great but tyson has fallen off & i think urijah would eat him right now, if anything i would love to see urijah fight frankie edgar, that woul be a good one for the #1 contender then fight bj
maybe...Edgar lacks exp though. All though he has beaten both Tyson Griffin AND Spencer Fisher and they're both excellent fighters so he might put up a good fight against Urijah. All though it sucks Fisher was beat by him I love Fisher x P
That same principle mentioned below is the reason BJJ works so well in training. You're always struggling against someone who knows what you're trying to do and is equal or better than you...when you take that same jitsoka and put him against an untrained person, submission is easy.
Regarding MPA2000's obviously uninformed comments, at this level of competition, every edge, including size & weight, is important. A 145-lb pro fighter can beat most guys in the street, regardless of size. However, at the pro level, it becomes more difficult to overcome size deficit, esp. during a multi-round match.
as a champion, i don't think faber is ready to leave the sport. at his weight class he is the best in the world until someone steps up and takes his belt.
Right, that is why I asked when are they going to fight someone of caliber? The strict weight classes are a joke, these fighting techniques are supposed to be able to defeat larger opponents. But these 145 and 155 whine about fighting guys 180 and above. In a bar fight you don't have the luxury of deciding to fight a 300lbs dirt bag feeling up your woman.
who should he fight at 145 that would satisfy you? Personally, I have never heard any fighter complain about fighting heavier fighters. Why would they? They don't have to. You sound like you would like their to be only one weight class for all fighters, which, while interesting (especially when royce gracie starts kicking peoples asses that are 100 lbs heavier than him) would favor the heavier fighters too much. It is supposed to be a sport, not a contest at who would win in a bar fight.
You've never heard of fighters complain about fighting heavier fighters? HAW! HAW! HAW! Almost all of the fighters constantly say that MMA represents real world street fighting. Only an idiot would think to become a Martial Artist, for the sport and not to consider it effective against a bully. HAR! HAR!! HAR!!!!
I rarely resort to harsh words but sometimes The level of idiocy some people come forth with is SO immense I cannot help but express myself. You are RETARRRRRRRRRRRRDED!!
Nice interview! It shows Urijah's genuine comradery with the press and very nice that he reaches out to fans---like me :) I love the footage of the gym and athletes in training but the background music is very distracting--very hard to hear spoken words. Urijah is an inspiring athlete.
guy looks more and more like Nick Pitera every time I see him.

Faber is a fucking wigger and a disgrace.
The current champ though, Mike Thomas Brown, is a fine rolemodel for white people.
He will beat wigger Fabers ass again.

Depending on their weight... Bj was at 200 lbs at one point...
If they were at the same weight, Faber would definately win vs. Penn. Faber is on another level right now...
