  • THAT'S NOT FUNNY! THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY IN THIS VIDEO. NO ONE GOOD LINE!

  • @Robb9096 Obviously you know more about comedy than a room full of comedians and comedic producers. I tip my hat to you.

  • @TomClothier Finally, I'm getting the recognition I deserve! You must be ... what? The king's son? The Prince of Peculiarity? hahaha. now that's funny! lol

  • @Robb9096 In your opinion, i think its hilarious

  • lazy 'shock' comedy

  • The Golden Globes people should have known better!

  • Gervais must be the last un PC comic out there - BRILLIANT! this World is gone that no one can say anything without someone complaining.

  • @dilwich123 erm not really frankie boyle, jimmy carr, all murray, emo phillpis etc.

  • That bloke in the wheelchair.. is a legend.

  • Noel didn't look that impressed

  • So he bashes on celebrities and all of a sudden he's a legend? Plenty have done that before him, and worse even. Ever heard of Roasts? They prove Americans can actually take cynical jokes and laugh at 'em. And to be honest everyone was laughing at the Golden Globes so I don't know what's the big deal!

  • @Raajur Well, calling someone a legend is a stupid thing to do in my opinion, but he is called a legend by people for his stand up and his shows....not because he does this sort of thing once or twice a year.

  • Noel Gallagher from Oasis milling around behind him laughing lol.

  • It's not worth arguing about. Most comedy shows anywhere in the world are shit. You're lucky if you find a couple of good, smart ones in any country. People like Ricky Gervais and Larry David are the rare exceptions.

  • @KatManDude you're forgetting michael mcintyre, he's the best

  • Just hear the laughter from a British audience compared to the American audience of the Golden Globes a couple of days ago.

  • @PokerPlum YouTube is a wonderful forum for wankers to argue about EVERYTHING! :)

  • Shit, look at the size of Steve. He is like a fucking lamppost.

  • Ash is such a legend, great sport.

  • There are good and bad American comedians and there are good and bad British comedians...plain and simple.

  • i like ukranian comedy

  • Brilliant

  • I'm American but I prefer British comedy. I have since childhood.

  • @KidBk313

That's because British comedy is better. Good show.

  • Karl Pilkington has a head like a f'n orange!!

  • @PokerPlum

11 months on and they're still at it

  • he's not fat at all now

  • STEPHEN <3

  • @PokerPlum they're jealous of us Americans..

we dont give a rat ass about the brits and they know everything about us .. lol

ricky and stephen are very funny and likable.. very NON dry humor very funny guys.. thats why theyre know every where, unlike the rest of the brits. .no one cares

  • @SaulMeyersz

Why would the british be jealous of Americans? Its basicly the same country and same people. Only there laws are a bit worse than Americans. Is it because they were at war with us some 100 years ago? Well its over now.

  • @SaulMeyersz wow a racist american how refreshing. do you want to throw in how everyone wants to be America or how cool everything is be proud of your country but don't start bitching about places or people you obviously know nothing about, but your an asshole and instead of coming back with anything of value you will probably just type something insulting and racist. they could make action figures of your kind, your that predictable.

  • @TimiHendrix195 another jealous brit.. how typical

  • @SaulMeyersz ha ha thank you you proved my point.

  • @SaulMeyersz Wow, I'm nor American nor British but even I see how full of yourself you are... You just added a wonderful example to the "dumb American patriot" stereotype... Sorry for, well, offending you, but what you said was so degrading...

  • @SaulMeyersz Do you hate all British people? I quite like some Americans, when I went over there it was brilliant. Your women are superior! But why do you dislike the Brits so much? You do to much stereotyping, everyone is different stop catergorizing based on nationality.

  • @iloveneytiri im sick of these comments about how the original is better and so on or this and that..

im here watching ricky and stephen and if you allways look back it turns into this our race is better than yours bullshit. i was never nationalistic till i started watching ricky on youtube.

  • @SaulMeyersz Then rise above it . I happen to think the original is better but I also realise that is because I'm British and I have quite different humour from most of the Americans and vice versa. Just leave the idiots to rant and rave and enjoy Gervais/Merchant for being absolutely brilliant at what they do!

  • @SaulMeyersz

I'm really jealous of you. I mean, I assume, by looking at your spelling you're about 11. When I was 11 I didn't have the internet. You're a very lucky boy. As for your country, I live in your country and all I ever get is Americans telling me how cool my accent is, how they love the British etc. I'd also like to thank your women for being so easy I only have to say one thing and they're all over me and my accent. Good times.

  • @limey157 dont forget our women are beautiful

unlike British ones who are fugly as shit with bad teeth.

im guessing you agree thats why your here

  • @SaulMeyersz You have more women who are fat, smell and sweat when they eat. You do have plenty of stunners though, and I would like to thank them for being so easy that all I have to do is say Hi to them and they are all over me. I love being British.

  • @SaulMeyersz Wait, are you being sarcastic or serious? Even if that was the case (which it isn't) wouldn't they be the girls that would suit you?

  • I must simply complain about the poor usage of Grammar on this thread.

Some people can not conjugate their verbs or even spall properly.

    Its simply frightful.

  • @Isleofskye lol "spall properly"

  • oh my god.

only Youtubers could turn a FUNNY sketch into an anglo-american blood bath.

  • I'm Italian, educated in the UK. I've been on the "who's funny, who isn't" bandwagon for years. It all comes down to culture. Europe has many more years of it. Sarcasm and British Whit need self-critisism. Americans have, by no fault of their own, ZERO culture. The also cannot self-critisize. The are brainwashed from the beginning in wanting to be cool, the captain of a football team, the bread winner.. If your salary goes up you have to change neigbourhood. No Itendity, no funny..

  • @fdl333 changing neighborhoods isn't just about status. the biggest reason a wealthy american would need to move is for security reasons. poorer neighborhoods tend to house more people that are willing to break into your house and steal your shit

  • I don't get how this turned in to another fight between yanks and Brits lol, it's meant to be funny! Comment on that. Don't bring wars in to it! Lol

  • Gervais=Genius. Simple.

  • Oh my God, when did the comments turn into Anglo-American war? For God's sake, we're allies. Americans are our descendants. Get over it and get along!

  • Wow, Mckenzie Crooke = HOT

  • i love noel gallagher but why is he up there ??

  • Ahh, I love being British.

Personally, I do think we have the best humor - but i'm sure Americans think the same about their humour.

To be fair though....Ricky Gervais is an absolute legend, and no other country in the world has someone half as funny as him.

And as PokerPlum pointed out, I love it how us Brits and Americans always end up having an argument. :')

  • @Winterstar2 what about dave chappelle?

  • @9056666 What about him?? Never even heard of the man.

  • @Winterstar2 O_o type his name on youtube you might like his comedy

  • was that al murray? FUCK...he seems totally different

  • @Verceti1 didnt have a pint in his hand

  • lets band together my british brothers and let us crush the stereotypical comments and together we can invade canada.

  • Humour/humor is subjective. Just because someone dislikes one style of comedy does not raise or lower the value of that style.

  • and at least there not thanking god every 2 minutes like all american winners!what are the non-winners thinking god hates me because i didn`t win

  • @chelseylizzie Yeah, thank God for that.

  • who knows. To be honest, I just don't think it matters. If I'm gonna be completely truthful I certainly watch a lot more American Comedy shows than British, like American Dad, The Office, Parks and Recreations etc. But that doesn't mean I value American Humor any more than British Humor, In fact I think the concept of being able to define an entire Nation's Humor is absurd.

  • @01hdav american dad is awesome

  • the funniest fuckin speech ive seen EVER!!!

  • this man is a legened

  • @MrMarkoUK A what??

  • it is very annoying..i enjoy both american and british...everything - so i don't know why it always has to turn into a "we're better than you are" contest

  • I know British comedians ARE better than Americans.

Stephen Merchant & Ricky Gervais are great British Comedians

  • Noel Gallagher and Ricky should have a conversation....

  • They do, I think there kind of mates. Noel did a recording with ricky of Freelove freeway, i's quite good.

  • @hi262779 got any tips about getting that? i really want to hear that.

  • lol @ noel gallagher cracking up

  • If America is good enough for Einstein it's good enough for the British and I'm British.

  • Don't forget, he only went there to escape persecution. He would've come here if we'd let him in.

  • How many did he win lol ?

  • American spelling on the other hand....

  • Haha!!

  • you are a moron. please do not post comments anymore, you really aren't a good advertisement for our country.

  • @texasoilfelds. wow your amazing!!!!!

  • @ratherbighat

haha thanks mate. see you on the football pitch june 12. first match of our group!

  • lol. Steve merchant segment was best! 2:30 - 2:55

  • "still can't beat Graham Norton? Even bringing 4 puffs and a piano on still didnt split the vote" "He told me it was a banker this year"

What brilliance! Just general witty hilarity that can't be rehersed.

  • "Look at his little face"

  • holy shit noel gallagher at 02.55

    lol

  • whats the name of 'the wheelchair guy'?

  • hAs

  • It's Ash Attala, he's the producer

  • 2.39

  • He once said in an acceptabce speach, they knew they were going to win because there was a ramp leading on to the stage.

Any one know which awards that was?

  • No...but it is on the special features on the office DVD...which you probably knew already :P

  • I believe it was on the South Bank Show Awards if i remember.

  • It was the British Comedy Awards over various years.

  • That britisc comedy awards seem to rock, unlike the lame shit we have in germany.

  • wow its like every cell in his body is made out of a joke so the only speech that is capable of coming out of his mouth are jokes

  • Comming from an American. Who are known the world over for their awful sense of humor which normaly revolves around stupid noises and bad impressions.

  • thats because understanding british humor requiers a sertain amount of intelligence! American humor is for horseminded people!

  • You have to understand that to the rest of the world, American humour is brainless.

  • I think you were being ironic

  • I agree.

  • GERVAIS IS THE MAN!

  • lmao, this is so funny

  • Ricky is so adorable!

  • Ricky, Stephen and Noel Gallagher all on the same stage! Brilliant!

  • the little wheelchair fellas great

  • Do you know his name ?

  • Ash Atalla

  • tu c'est merde

  • They're funnier because they use clever wit to make jokes and humour where as americans just vomit puke that is so unfunny that it makes people WANT TO SICK CARROTS!...which isn't funny at all.

  • wow, ignorance is bliss I suppose

  • Well you're right, Ignorance is bliss. But the fact that american humor is second fiddle to british humour is obvious. I'll tell you who you don't want to bring into the argument....australian humour.... because right now?.....Australia just ain't funny. But I'm talking broadcast humour too.... local humour is pretty good since I moved in.....

  • @theumprobable check out Summer Heights High it's fucking hilarious

  • I second that! Summer Heights High is brilliant!

  • Gervais is really a tender hearted guy- he does it because tons of people find it funny. the thing is, we're all human, we're all gonna die, we're all vulnerable. Its the in your face awkward movements he loves and so he capitalizes on that.

  • Brilliant! I love R.G

  • classic

  • funny as hell. Classic Gervais

  • ah, thought I was on youtube. Clearly I'm on the eminem fansite thing.

    Bit Gay.

  • so to surmise britain rules us drooles eminem? coulda saved urself alot of time

  • No actually, if you actually read what I've written then you'll see that the summary you've given isn't compatiable with what I've said.

To summarise that... You're a twat.

  • What are you a bit loopy? Or do you just not know what surmise means?

    1. To infer (something) without sufficiently conclusive evidence.

    2. To make a guess or conjecture.

    3. An idea or opinion based on insufficiently conclusive evidence; a conjecture.

Nothing to do with a summary

Also, I don't think anyone is going to bother reading all of your opinion as to do so would take longer than the video they came to watch.

My comment was in jest aswell eminem, 'why are you so mad'?

  • Come on guys there's swearing and violence in them! You can actually SEE it, surely that's horribly wrong! Go on, complain!

Fucking pisses me off people who don't get irony but complain as if they do. If you don't get it / like it... Don't fucking pay attention to it.

  • Gervais though... Anybody who really knows him, like has heard him speaking genuinely or just heard him speaking for more than a few minutes will know that he's an intelligent, polite, articulate, well-meaning, wise wise man.

The same people who get offended by Gervais are surely the same who get offended by Eminem. Yet these people don't get offended by Mad Max or Goodfellas as they know they're not real...

  • I can see how you could get offended by say... Bernard Manning, because he was a self-admitted racist and so on... So his comedy was actually coming from a bad place and he probably believed a lot of the things he said. Using stand-up less as a medium for comedy but more as a political high-horse.

  • Somebody somewhere is always going to take something the wrong way either because they don't understand the backworks of it or are simply dumb. Or chose to misconscrew it to make it offensive as for some wierd reason there seems to be a portion of this planet who sort of... Enjoy getting offended. It's like they go out of their way to spot as many things that niggle them just for the privilage of pointing it out and claiming emotional disjustice... Bizzare.

  • I just can't see how you can get offended by him when he says such things or makes fun of a guy in a wheelchair when he's obviously in persona and... Just taking the piss. Which is surely the essence of comedy? How could anything be funny without there being a victim. You could tell a joke about a pencil and get poets saying they're 'offended' as it's their tool of work I mean...

  • One last thing - To the guy who said he gets offended by Ricky; Congratulations, you don't get irony!

I honestly cannot see how you can get offended by Gervais. His irony is always clever and hilarious but beyond that, it's OBVIOUS. Not to say he's not subtle, of course he is in his timing and performing style but the actual irony is obvious.

  • Although it's a kind of network sitcom with a few cliche's... I do find it pretty funny. Ryan Reynolds is especially good.

The other of course being Curb Your Enthusiasm. I didn't rate Larry David on Seinfield but Curb is fucking excellent. So unique in it's output. Disproves the theory of all Americans being unfunny! What a class show as well.

Well, I'm done, I think I just typed the entire contents of my brain. Good night and Darwin bless.

  • Ironically all cartoons... Why can't the US duplicate that smart, satirical humor more progressively using HUMAN actors instead of drawings?...

To date I've only actually seen two funny US sitcoms. First - Two Guys and a Girl. That was pretty dead in the US but got quite big in the UK.

  • Some of them even cringinly bad , I mean so UNfunny that they're hard to watch. Friends springs immediately to mind. Seinfield is hailed as a classic too... Have to say, I can't see the beauty of it. Pretty average IMO.

Not to say all of the US is unfunny that would be fucking silly. Infact, there is SOME good US comedy on TV, of course you've got The Simpsons (fan-tas-tic!), Futurama... South Park and Family Guy.

  • But I've yet to find a sort of 'good' genre for US comedy. Not a substantial one anyway, you get the one offs very occasionally but most comedy hailed by Americans as genius or classic comedies tend to be in the 'bad' section to me.

Comedy pandering to the masses with laughter tracks, zany one liners every 2 minutes, predictable plotlines, no substance and steretypical characters getting into 'amusing' scrapes.

  • One word- Scrubs

  • About US comedy. Well... Personally I've despised the majority of it for a long time. In the UK we seem to have... 'good' comedy and 'bad' comedy. Now the 'bad' comedy is obviously comedy made for the masses, sort of UK equivalent of network comedies in the US. Things like Bread, My Family etc.

Which is ok for sort of background TV aka TV you have on whilst chatting to aid uncomfortable pauses... But thank god we've got the latter.

  • In my opinion, you can't beat British comedy, the 'good' comedy in Britain is always intelligent, ironic, beautifully timed, original and usually timeless.

The Office, Extras, Blackadder, Peep Show, Fawlty Towers, The Mighty Boosh, MONTY PYTHON, The Royle Family... No need to even mention anything else!

    As well as Britain's stand-up!

  • the mighty boosh? grow up

  • You never realise how petty yourself even sound until you read it back after the initial anger has gone. I've done it myself on previous 'YouTube debates'. Fucking funny.

About the guy who just dismissed UK Comedy and summed it up as 'running around' obviously a blatent reference to Benny fucking Hill... What a cock.

  • First off - Gervais is a fucking comedy genius. The Office, Extras, Animals, Politics, Fame, Podcasts... Amazing. And I love the fact he accepts awards ironically as to not make his speech cringingly cliche' like everyone else. PS. Can't wait for This Side of the Truth.

Secondly, I've just been reading the HUGE argument spanning back pages n pages about US vs UK culture / comedy etc. Have to say, fucking hilarious.

  • I agree. The majority of people find gareth's hair and david's beard the funnier parts of the office

  • the king of the acceptance speach

  • where on a proper channel now...Genius

  • Genuis :)

  • LMFAO at the guy who thought Benny Hill was the pinnacle of British comedy or at all relevant in modern British comedy.

In short, get educated or go back to classic American comedy such as "Everybody Loves Raymond".

  • woooh i just read that whole argument i forgot to watch the vid lol

  • not bad..

  • lmao Gervais is a comedy genius. Fucking hilarious.

  • al murray sounds weard without his landlord voice.

and i didn't realise that was his producer but i recognise him from the start of politics.

  • Gervais = Genius

  • gallagher laughing in the end cracks me up

  • At 1:55 same!

  • mistertarmac- you need to get a grip. Honestly.

  • i know man. the guys a genius and the two guys are friends. Chill out mistermac.

  • he isnt taking it "in good humour" that makes him sound like a victim of bullying having to smile for the camera. hes just laughing at a bit of banter. hes appeared in "politics" aswell so he obviously gets the irony and chooses to be part of it. i dont think you get the joke because your one of the people ricky is parodying

  • mistertarmac chillout and u might discover the comedy side to life

  • the woman who plays Jennifer looked fucking stunning here

    damn

  • I love little Ash, i saw him in Manchester and he aint as small as he looks in this video. Very funny.

  • Brilliant!
