  • I was fortunate enough to study acting with her for one year in college, and she was hands the best teacher I ever had in my life. Her advice to me? "I am the audience. If you bore me, God help you."

  • I study under this lady! I'm honored; truly honored...

  • This is a short documentary by the communication dept. at NIU....it's not like she solicited filmmakers to make an attetntion grabber for herself..if she needed to feed her ego she would be in NYC teaching...not in the middle of a cornfield in Illinois...I have been working pretty consistently since training with her...wish you had had a similar experience...disagree with the narcissism comment completely..

  • Yea, I'm studying with her at NIU right now. It's incredible. I've never experienced anything so intense. I've come to class shaking because I know that she will see right through my attempts and be able to critique me perfectly. I leave every class overwhelmed by all that I have learned.

  • I took a class from her at the ITS fest this year, and it was AMAZING. And she gave me the best acting compliment of my LIFE. Seriously, I am never going to forget it. So so sooo incredible. And she taught me so much in just the hour and a half the class took. Unforgetable.

  • So glad to see this video...such a talented and wise teacher..and an amazing, authentic human being....I am acting professionally in New Mexico now...I can say without a doubt that I hear Kathhryn's voice in my head before every audition....

  • im going to niu next year as a bfa acting major she is going to be one of my teachers :)

  • Do not let her tear you down. She is tough and sometimes in a demoralizing, soul crushing way.

  • I am currently studying with her.....nuff said. She is amazing.

  • this is the most narcissistic thing i've ever seen...

    the ego of this lady..

  • But what she says is true. She is incredibly talented, and has a natural ability for what she does. I don't find her egotistical at all..she just knows her strengths and weaknesses very well, which is what anyone in the business needs to know and capitalize on. You can't be modest in this business.

I really admire her, and love to see her teach our actors.

  • You got that right. Amazing ...no. Narcissist.... yes.

  • @dravenack You have to understand: NIU is in the middle of a cornfield. For us to have been associated with such prestigious schools insofar as getting Moscow...it's worth being proud of. Kathryn is truly a great teacher.

  • thanks for T

  • I am currently studying under Kathryn Gately and I have to say... she is amazing! My first day with her I knew I was getting an incredible teacher :) Great video

  • I remember when Kathryn and Rick were at the Acting Studio on 21st Street. They are very nice people as well as being very professional. Ironically, James Gandolfini worked across thes street at PRIVATE EYES...known as Jimmy G then

  • Yeah, but I bet she hasn't taught Trott Felipe. He's the best actor to come out of Iowa since Ashton Kutcher...which says so much.

  • Ha, ha! I know those kids she's working with. I went to school with them!!! Kathryn is such a great teacher. An honor to have studied with her.

  • I studied with Kathryn Gately. She used to talk about Gandolfini. She called him Jimmy, I believe.

  • Very good video, it's a wonder that you don't have more subscribers.
