A real classical treat, to see all these cats on stage together jammin, especially Gonzalo Rubalcaba. He had to be about 15 or 16 years old then... Totally awesome !!!
God bless you Dizzy, you gave and you gave and you kept giving! You were also the embodiment of the phrase "a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"
super bueno esto se llama buena musica son un ejenplo para nosotros los musicos y dizzy el padre de la criatura y el tema de un cubano que fue el primero que llebo las congas para usa y asi todo canbio con el sabor de los abacua
This brings back a good memory. I saw Dizzy and Sayyd play live, once, in Adelaide Australia at about that time (mid-1980s). It was awesome. "Manteca" just grooved for about 20 minutes (drums, bass, bari) with Sayyd doing that right hand gesture just like on this vid. 20 min of groove before any solo! But if that was all they had played all night, it would have been enough!
@Utubestir its two bassists and one of kind like rhythm guitar.. One bass player from arturo and one from dizzy's land, i presume.. i could be wrong.. tks for the upload, you saving lives. peas
I love how everyone is just jammin and having fun. That's how you know they're true musicians. When you can beast like they are and have the time of your life. I love that.

Excelente.
Dizzy Gillespie was in Cuba in 1977 and performed there, ( i was still in Cuba at that time). The young drummer is , ' El Negro' Hernandez. Paquito was not there because he was already in the U. S. A.. Gerry Zaragemca, (Gerry Zaragemca is a world's known authority in Afrocuban Percussion and Music).
walter bishop in the background, rubalcaba playing. diz doing his thing. i forgot bishops name and i had to get it. had to respect that man. arturo is dizzys son as are all real trumpet players and muscians that live the life. diz was blessed with the gift because the man knew he was the one who would do the right thing with the power. bless um....
Happy birthday to one of my fathers. so many great players on this video. rubalcaba and forgive me for not remembering the name of a great pianist behind him. i should be ashamed. it will come to me when i log off. sorry. diz was so humble and giving of the knowledge. no wonder the higher power blessed him with the gift. Long live diz.

I used to have this movie on VHS in PAL format. I think it was called "A Night in Havana." Can't seem to find it anywhere in DVD.
