This brings back a good memory. I saw Dizzy and Sayyd play live, once, in Adelaide Australia at about that time (mid-1980s). It was awesome. "Manteca" just grooved for about 20 minutes (drums, bass, bari) with Sayyd doing that right hand gesture just like on this vid. 20 min of groove before any solo! But if that was all they had played all night, it would have been enough!

Excelente versión, con Arturo robandose la pelicula como siempre con su esquisita técnica, los cubanos son increibles, solo faltó Chano que en paz descanse junto a Dizzy. Excelente.

Dizzy Gillespie was in Cuba in 1977 and performed there, ( i was still in Cuba at that time). The young drummer is , ' El Negro' Hernandez. Paquito was not there because he was already in the U. S. A.. Gerry Zaragemca, (Gerry Zaragemca is a world's known authority in Afrocuban Percussion and Music).
