I am a veteran who would love to talk to you about my non-treatment. I have been diagnosed with the Non Alcoholic Type and no one has recommended any treatment of any kind. I have slightly elevated liver enzymes and no problems with insulin resistance that I have been told. (see continuation)
Will you always show elevated liver enzymes with this? I recently had a CT scan for abdominal pain. They were checking to see if there was any thickening on my colon, as I had a flare up back in June. That part was fine, but I was informed that I have several lesions on my liver which could be hemangioma's, fatty liver disease or something else. I have suffered from a lot of URQ pain, itching on my neck/face and nausea. My gallbladder was removed in 1997, so it's not that.
I have recently been diagnosed with this. One thing I notice is sometimes I have un controlable itching. Is this a possible symptom of this liver issue
@mrwendelclark: It is possible because the liver among other things, it filters blood. If your liver fatty then it can not fully remove all waste - so the waste can build resulting in my issues including itchy skin. It is also important to have your medical consultant to check your renal function - especially if your fatty liver is a direct result of diabetes or alcohol.
I was diagnosed last October with Fatty Liver Steatosis. I was put on cholesterol medication as my blood cholesterol level was 250. After taking the medicine for two months my blood cholesterol level dropped to 106 but my symptoms from the fatty liver appeared to get worse with a new symptom emerging. In January I began to have a soapy/metallic taste in my mouth. Is this common with this condition?
Willson: You have to change your diet and eat only lean meats (less meat) more veggies, no sugar, no junk food, exercise and stay with it.... A fatty liver is nothing to play around with... 5'6" and 195... should be more like 150... But of course that depends on your frame too
Ok so i couldn't lose weight...I'm 5'6" and 195. Tried jogging and playing sports etc every day for months and actually gained a few pounds. Tests showed high liver function twice in a row so the doctor sent me for an ultrasound.....the info nurse calls me in and says i definately have a fatty liver....but not to worry and just watch my cholesterol and fat intake??? Is this right? Do i need a second opinion???
