  • Steve Gadd has got impeccable timing period.

  • Holy fucking porno funk

  • Gadd taketh and Gadd bloweth away!

  • devastante!

  • In terms of playing drums, I don't think anyone conveys the emotional value of a drum note better than Steve Gadd.

  • making love with the groove

  • I ended up here because my band covered the Primus version, but, to my surprise, I found myself humbled again in the Steve Gadd school of tasteful drumming. Back to practicing!

  • this is out of control this is flying off the walls groovy

  • lars ulrich fans must feel terrible watching this vid

  • Gadd drums so cleanly!

  • Doctor Clarke !

They don' t need guitar, vocals, or.........NOTHING MORE !!

  • Stanley looks fucking gay haha ^^ (And I love him of course)

  • These guys play awesome for bein stoned

  • who disliked this i mean seriously

  • no beard!!

  • I am a funk jam addicter.

    end of story

  • I'd be that guy, who couldn't hold it in at 3:00

  • Hey people, do you know, whether one can this concert on DVD?

  • i watch this video almost every day and i never get tired of that groove...this song is really great!

  • What can you say......two of the greatest on their respective instruments.

  • LOL, right at the end it was like they were playing chicken, to see who would get in the last lick...Gadd is amazing. Got to interview him bakc in '06 for a local arts mag here in Rochester. A true gentleman.

  • @gasaholic47 Wow, that interview must have been pretty awesome. How long was it?? I've always loved Gadd's style. Makes it look effortless. I got to play with Stanley on stage at the old Arcadia Theater in Dallas in '84.

I was in bass heaven. His rig sounded so good on stage. One of the hilites in my musical career.

  • ''I like the part where Steve Gadd. '' Thats funny. Me too dude, me too. I way rather listen to that kind of groove drumming than just about any other kind.

  • When Steve Gadd lays down a groove, he isn't in the pocket, the pocket is in him!

  • Silly Putty

  • cool

  • Well Gadd Damn!!!

  • Never been crazy about Clarke's tone, but this is just perfect.

  • That paradiddle lick comes up everywhere with Gadd. It's such a good lick.

  • Just wow.

  • OH YES

  • main tune has been a fav for yrs, when the bass plays, na na na naaaaa, or how i hear it, gimme my change.

  • fuckin damn groove.....!!!!

  • The Key Master and the Gate Keeper (Ghostbusters) ain't got nothing on these two. Anyone know where this is taken from?

  • In Gadd We Trust

  • Two masters showing their chops.......

  • OMG! what a groove!

  • More like undressing each other with there music. That was awesome

  • From over here it looks like they're undressing eachother with their eyes the whole time

  • Check out how he seamlessly switches hi-hat and snare hands at about 1:00. Awesome.

  • It's funny how everyone is "GADD PLEASE HAVE MY BABY!!!", and not realizing the look on Clarke's face at 0:42 when Gadd comes up with this totally out of place "groove" lol

  • Gadd is simply ferocious!!! My favorite drummer of all time.

  • Why doesn't YouTube have a "Love" button?

  • Both of these guys are so amazingly lyrical with their playing... Quite a moment.

  • Ambidexterity, baby. Gaddbidexterity.

  • Anyone heard Silly Puddy by Primus? Weird...

  • @EarlSickbert les does do a pretty sick cover of this song.

  • @EarlSickbert Like anything else that Primus does

  • lol 2:15

  • Still good! It reminded me,once i had this stanley's disc and bartered miles ' one with my band mate.it's a old story.yeah.

  • so killing good jam with the rythm section...

  • its yeah bas and drums

  • I've been following these guys for years and they never cease to amaze me. How anyone could vote this down is beyond me. People voting dislike can't have any sense of rhythm. Clarke & Gadd are amazing!

  • these 2 should get a room.

  • This is SEXAY MUSIC!!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

  • How does he create such effect, feeling and atmosphere, without lashing at the drums like others do? and with such smooth beats and sounds?...

  • @happyheadpopper because he's steve gadd dude, the guy is a master. smoother than silk with that extra delicate touch.

  • This is the true meaning of drum & bass!

They're just so in sync. Never get tired of playing this.

  • This is the true meaning of drum & bass!

They're just so in sync. Never get tired of playing this.

  • WATCH MY BASS SOLO,PEOPLE

    Go on

  • steve gadd, the man who invented "in the pocket ! ! " unbelievably smooth !

  • The best jam ever...!!

  • Steve Gadd is very different from clarke's current drummer Ronald Bruner. Gadd is like laid back smooth drumming, Bruner is a show off. I prefer Gadd even though Bruner may be far faster and stronger than Gadd's playing.

  • @JustinDrummer13 i agree its not abt how hard or how fast u play, its in your ability to feel the music, u know??

  • I like the part where Steve Gadd.

  • @winner0loser That is the BEST comment on a music video clip, EVER!

  • @drumseltzer Somebody knocked on the door!!!

  • Steve Gadd is like most music monsters...makes it look easy..yeah kids go out and buy a set of drums and groove like Steve..

Oh the heartache!!! LOL!! Thanks for the post!!

  • Beautiful groove...Steve Gadd: The King of the Groove

  • Gadd is Badd!

  • primus covered this on rhinoplasty

  • paradiddles

  • Steve is Gadd

  • @shanghaiKISS02 ha lol

  • If I had a time machine, I'd want to go back and see this live. Two guys in true harmony. An absolute pleasure to watch and hear.

  • 14" hats?? Steve is one of the few TOTALLY original drummers ,who has immaculate taste, superb technique and can also whip it out ! He's a natural teacher too.

  • 3 Words. Fucking Amazing!

  • Gadd is as tight as they come! Love how he "left's" the Hi-Hat...nice!

  • One of my favorite bassists and one of my favorite drummers throwing down. Dig it.

  • One of my favorite bassists ans one of my favorite drummers throwing down. Dig it.

  • Man, isn't that great groove they both have. Anyone else likes what Stanley clarke is doing?

  • zimmoframen, yes they could play all the small things. That is child's play for them.

  • I could on;y dream of playing the bass like that... I might have have to do a Robert Johnson.

  • Dayum!!!!!!!!! Just . . . hotgotamighay!!!!!!!!

  • great success

  • this is alright...i doubt these guys could play all the small things though!

  • CoooL!!!

  • The beat starting at 1:35 reminded me of when I was really sick and had some out of body experiences when I was ten or eleven. So huanting.

  • 39 people apparently lack any musical taste whatsoever. I don't care what type of music you're into, you just can't deny how good this is! Man, Steve to me is just the epitome of tasteful groove. He gots chops, he knows when to use em, and more importantly - when NOT to. And of course, Stanley Clarke. The man has so much style. A true innovator!

  • this guy is possessed i think:

search "Amorphic drum" ...1st video result

  • Two of the best musicians ever.

  • süperrrrrrrrrrr

  • @AnimeLagge, Uh Primus did a COVER of this STANLEY CLARKE song...not the other way around! Although Les Claypool did tear it up in his version. No One is Ever Better than Stanley EVER. (Just my opinion)

  • If I had only heard the music without video I would yell Silly Putty - Primus. This song sounds like an improvised version of Silly Putty

  • Stanley!

  • what song is this it's amazingly awesome I want to learn it

  • @DaMastaSon This is not a song, THEY ARE IMPROVISING! Have you ever hear of improvising? It's that thing that Jazz musicians do.

  • @SciMasterGeneral Actually they are playing very small parts of songs that Stanley made, and putting it into one groovy song.

  • What dynamics...........

  • That other kit looks like Kenny Joens circa 1981 with The Who. Does anyone know if that's the case?

  • I love it!

  • Look up groove in the dictionary and the link for this vid will be der :)

  • Two mother f-ing funky ass mother f-ers! Damn!

  • his dynamics are off the wall

  • Steve gadd he's a legend!!the way that get the groove it's a dream!!!he is the DAD of all drummers!!!

  • Right on my musical bretheren, there are no rules, you know what sounds right and what doesn't work. That's the art of it, but music is a little strange in that it does have a physical almost athletic side to it too. Beginners usually fall into the louder faster higher trap for at least a few years. If they progress they grow out of it and actually become good musicians:)

  • @rrdrums1111 I've seen Buddy Rich and Billy Cobham play live as well as many others such as Lenny White, Terry Bozio da ta da ta da. Sure they smoke Gadd playing certain styles but so what? Does that mean Steve Gadd sucks? Why do you hate Steve Gadd so much? Please enlighten me, maybe I'll join the Steve Gadd haters club too.

  • This just makes me feel soooooooooo good. Sweet, inspirational and cool.

+ The engineer has used Sennheiser MD441s (not 421s- 441s) on all the toms genius follows genius... right on!

  • sick!

  • FOLKS, it is time for you to hear @Youwishyoucouldplay drumming! I have put his HERO video as my play on my page. You deserve to know who has been trolling you.

  • Gadd attacks that crash cymbal as if he's imagining punching someone in the face...

  • awesome!!!!!!!....

  • @Youwishyoucouldplay Hey man, you will now forever be known as IwishIhadtaste. Are you on crystal meth? Heroin? I love Stanley Clarke. He is one of the greatest bassists of our time but Steve Gadd is one of the rare guys that came along and changed everyone who came after him. Like Jimi Hendrix or Miles Davis, Gadd transcended styles and genres. Maybe that's why he is on over 2000 records.

  • @Gretschdrums75 Put tony williams or billy Cobham in and you'll have a fire. The best gadd can do is smolder.

  • @rrdrums0110 you don't know shit bout music let alone drumming.

  • @beatcrazy14 I smoke your lame ass as if you never existed!!!

  • @rrdrums1111 you totally wish dude

  • Comment removed

  • @Youwishyoucouldplay

JAJAJA you got no idea of who Steve Gadd is, jajajajjaja!

  • The part from 0:00-3:49 is the FUCKING SHIT Gadd is truly a god

  • @Lobones0066 Clarke is not so bad also !

  • Gadd is God! Check out Steve doin' a samba! Think you're a drummer? Try to pull off his kick (and one, and two, and three, and four....) then try to manage the rest.! Shiiit...

    Good luck, rockers!!!

  • The first minute alone is all you need to know, that he does more with a few notes than many drummers (including great ones) do in a whole song. That groove is so locked in....I don't know....Keith Carlock? Can't think of a sweeter groover, still.

  • cheers steve and stanley. many generations to come are going to be turned on by this music, in every corner of the world, cos it just makes you want to get up and shake your butt. fantastic.

  • MILLION THUMBS UP to posts of Johnwilmot2007 and RAYJAGAN

  • is this an actually song stanley recorded or is it just a jam

  • Not sure if this is what's happening, but around 1:30 Clarke seems to just take a break and enjoy the groove. That's my favorite part of this video, after seeing about 20 times or so. :-D

  • the best thing about Gadd, or one of best things, has always been how beautifully understated his playing is - he can let it rip when he wants, but musically, tastefully, holds back...

  • Steve Gadd is one deep mufu!

  • I dont understand how someone could thumbs down this. Probably some angry emo kid.

  • I think the best part is the first half. Watching the incredible things Gadd does using just the bass drum snare and high hat. Truly incredible!

  • avp715 Fuck yeah dude! Lmao

  • johnwilmot2007, good comment, there are tons of drummers who think that the Worlds fastest drummer organization has the last word on wether drummers are good or not. Matt Smith is one for example, also Mike Mangini as well. Mangini should know better (he is a teacher at berklee for chirst sakes) but these guys are spending too much time worrying about how fast their single stroke roll is and not spending enough time on their meter.

  • @muzical26

I play keys/piano and if thats the truth its ridiculous

  • I forgot what song that is

  • rrdrums110 is on every single steve gadd video saying somethin shit in the coments. Dont feed the troll.

  • 2:37 o.O wOW

  • 2:06-2:20 :O

this is why gadd is my favorite drummer of all time
