the symbol ヴ when seen is assumed "V" when Japanese people DO see this Katakana. It's used a lot despite others saying. It's usually a quick slur of the Japanese sounds "U" and "I" UI. There is nothing wrong with this Katakana. Most Japanese teachers in the states, will not teach it to you, so to assumed it's not used often because it was not taught to you, is just haughty. Most people don't know that "WI" has a character in Japanese which is: ゐ. ← This is use less than ヴ.
That's actually the Album name. And the artist name, as the case may be.
The album name is Aural Vampire 2. It's their second digital self-titled.
It's written in Katakana, which technically means it's foreign words, written in a way that the Japanese can read, yet still distinguish it from their standard written language of Hiragana...
The symbols... "letters", if you relate it to English... are:
Many Japanese still spell foreign words with a 'v' sound with a 'b'. Much like 'video' is ビデオ。'bideo', this is because they pretty much sound the same when it's pronounced.
You said it right there. However, this isn't a *word*, this is considered a "direct name". Upon which, they would use ヴ. Additionally: the argument was that ヴ wasn't the proper way to spell or pronounce it.
Aural Vampire themselves use that symbol. (Aural Vampire(オーラルヴァンパイア)(エキゾチカ) Official Website)
@trunkuza But just to clarify, you are correct with using 'ヴ' in the spelling of Aural Vampire, as all you really need to do is look at how they spell it on their album covers.
they're still a band?

@winn3317
Beg to differ. ヴ is the katakana for U, with a diacritical mark that has been used in times to change it to a V sound.
"bu-a-n-pa-i-a" would be "ブ ア ン パ イア"
