The beauty about these type of Tournaments is that the hits and kicks may not look like they are doing much, but then all of the sudden *WHACK!* down goes the opponent. Awesome.
@boaspagesturn bruce lee didn't do kyokushin. Full-contact karate is more like muay thai without clinch and no gloves and no punches to the head. This is the result of having such rules.
all of this just loox like regular punching and kicking....except for that one black guy (no racism intended) who did the kick in the second round or whatever round
@XLRO8 well, this is like a 128 man tournament. They have gone through 4 fights or more before getting to the last 8. Keep in mind that in order to get a black belt in kyokushin you have to be able to take 30 fights in a row, still standing at the end. stamina is not an issue; but they're humans...
I like Teixeira. So I probably know a little more about him than those who only watched this video of Teixeira. Though he may not seem as the most technical and talented fighter, he's a great fighter. I'm pretty sure, he worked really*100 hard to get his title as the World Champion. So please don't comment stuff saying that it was his size that allowed him to win.
@topdawg732 That's absolutely right, lol. You may have been joking but karate was developed as a combat system...for self defense...not for this purpose.
@Sagfu1 They choreograph movies with a bunch of flashy moves but I'll take movie karate over lame ass sport karate any day. One is just as fake as the other.
@thanatas That's not true. In a way, you're bringing down Murata. Kiyama is only like 178cm tall and won against Teixeira 4 years ago. And being big is a talent. In basketball, you can't complain that you're shorter than somebody and let that somebody score.
i have a question and i know it might sound stupid for those who have done this or are well informed so please be polite lol ok when they land there hits is it with full force or partial?i was told its about the energy u put in it and even when it seems like light hits its really something that can fuck u up is this true?
@celticmoon88 sometimes it depends on where you hit the opposition and their focus also light hits are useful a lot of people think just hit the opposition as hard as you can but these attacks are slower than light hits and when facing a experienced fighter they can see a punch coming while it is in it's earliest form and will ethier counter or dodge the attack so using light hits can help put your opposition off balance/not as focused creating a opening for a harder hit.
I´we trained karate for over a half year now and 1 week ago i got my first belt: yellow. Some people may think i dont now anything but i now the basics, like mawashigeri, maegeri, junzuki, gyakzuki, ushiro geri, surikomi, sokuto and I now that kick in the head is called maegeri/sokuto/mawashigeri Jodan/Yodan and in the stomach chudan, knees fumikomi.
@Robopencil sad enough that they do for the sake of points, but in real life karate is more brutal. boxing and muay thai doesn't teach you to spear hand your opponents eye. back fist the temple, front kick your balls. and you dont get more brutal than that. and it gets lethal, a reverse punch on your solar plexus can kill if an excessive amount of force is used, a round house kick using the ball of the foot instead the instep can be permanently dibiltating.
for masters0alive- OSU is for most people like ''hi''.for me and for most kyokushin fighters is the power to persever by willpower, the true fighting spirit of kyokushin.
p.s. my english is not so good, but i hope you understand what i mean

The problem with this kind of 'karate', though, is that it is not an art one can practice one's whole life. That, and it is a style where, all else being equal, the biggest guy is going to win. Instead of the first one to make a mistake losing. You basically train to take abuse. Sure, it toughens you, but you aren't going to be able to take that abuse in your 50's and 60's like you are in your 20's and 30's. And you sure as heck won't have the raw power of men in their prime.
@masters0alive just like kiai, it is supposed to be yelled at the end of or during a technique to put max strength, diaphram and some such, more or less.
Murata seems like a better fighter, Texteira has no good block, he won cause he was probaly stronger, and Murata couldn't take hard hits. But i got to say Murata is a skillful kyokushin fighter.
it is simple, doesn't matter who was the most skillful, strongest, smaller, heaviest or funniest. Who won is best, that is the only way what you can know who is the best.
@kyokushinkevin Not really, yes I agree that that is the only way to determain who is the better fighter but mabey if there was a rematch you may see different skills, speed and power that could change alot of minds.
@kyokushinkevin No. The reason why double round robin exists, it helps reduce the element of luck. If you're just counting one match, luck can always come into play. Your logic is very flawed. If you're lucky enough to be not the best but win in a double round robin tournament, then you deserve the win.
@kyokushinkevin How can you tell who is the best fighter under such constraining rules? In the street Murata may have won. No hand strikes to the face, are you joking?
is it just me, or is Kenpachi Zaraki one of the announcers?

Not very much style in a karate tournament. The fighters just wail away on each other like they're punching bags.
At least in Muay Thai and Boxing you can see the skill. Fighters check kicks, punches, knees, and elbows. Attack and counter attack.
Karate teaches complex blocks and techniques, but they're thrown to the wind when the shit hits the fan.
Boxing and Muay Thai teach simple, but brutal techniques. And the fighters are actually able to use them.
Robopencil 2 years ago
