  • Awesome cars!

    - and good quality video

  • @C20rules There's another car show coming up later this month.. this time I will use a steadicam and try for much smoother moving footage. Also will use a different color matrix and stop trying for muted filmlike colors. The reds didn't stand out in this particular video due to a poor choice of cine matrix. Deep blue skies come at the expense of intensity of the reds.

  • @basspig

    Nice! :)

  • picture is amazing. But we can hear lots of noise with nt4. Probably cause it's not a cardioïd microphone.

  • NT4 IS a cardioid mic. And it does a very good job of front to back noise cancellation. You should hear the other recording of the big band concert I captured in 2008 with the Sonny Carrol Orchestra. Even though my camera and mic were 50' from the orchestra, it sounded almost as if I had a hard wire connection to a FoH mixer, instead of an on camera mic. Check out that video and see if you come away with a different opinion.

  • @basspig I mean noise coming from around the microphone, coming from the street, not from the electronic of the NT4. Sound is good.

  • There was sound coming from all directions, but the people across the street were very audible, since they were in the main lobe of the pickup pattern. The NT4 is rather wide, but it does reject sound from the back very well.

  • @th4002 It is in fact a cardioid, and it rejects almost 25dB of noise from the rear and over 10dB from the sides. If I had recorded this with an omni, the crowd would have overcome the car sounds.

  • I don't get a choice of 1080/720. Mine just says "HD". I have seen the choice on other videos though. I have DSL Pro. About 5Mbps and about .65 upload.

  • I found that I can see that selector if I log out of YT first and then locate the video by search. But oddly, when I'm logged into my YT account, I also get just an HD button.

Did you see the screen shots of original vs. YT rendered version on DVXuser? The YT version is utterly mush. Doesn't look like HD to me at all. I think 720P YouTube looks as good if not better.

  • Yes I saw the mush! Lame. I'm OK with 720P on YT as my standard.

  • i get the choice of 1080 or 720 but my memory lacking pc dont buffer the 1080 one fast enough for it to play smooth but thats juct my pc lol

  • It's probably the speed of the internet. I start the load, pause the video and wait five minutes and then play it once it's completely buffered.

One day, when we all have 100/100mb/s internet connections via fiber, HD video will be more watchable. :-)

  • I think something went wrong with YouTube's encoding, as the resulting "HD" flash version is looking more like upscaled SD rather than HD. So much for uploading 1080P to YouTube! Sorry this experiment didn't work out.

  • It does show as having both 720p and 1080p available as a selector on the HD button, though I'm not sure how it looks in comparison to the source file. Does look very sharp though, it did not play well on my laptop like you had mentioned I had to play it on my quad core machine.

  • Interesting that you are seeing a popout chooser for 720/1080. I get only the HD button and the choice between 'watch in normal quality' and 'HD'. Maybe because I'm logged in and trying to sample my own video. I'll have to try this from another PC that's not logged in.

I have friends who complain they can't play my 720P videos either, and one of them has a Core2 Duo. Perhaps he has a very poor video card. YouTube is a resource hog, no matter how you look at it. Thanks for commenting.
