  • Totally amazing!

  • Actually the real song is in G flat... he is playing in C

  • that was great! Can you please teach Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley?

  • very nice

but u should probably stop singing :)

  • @VivaValler1998 The guy can sing pretty good.

  • Oh, but thanks very much for the handy tips!

  • Please change the camera angle to not look like you're leaning over the keys looking back - I get vertigo watching it :-)

  • HOLY SHIT! How many FREAKING TIMES does he have to say that HE INTENDED TO PLAY THE SONG IN A DIFFERENT KEY THAN WHAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY PLAYED IN? See.... He transposed the song to C because he felt it was easier to play and sing in than G..... IT'S NOT THAT HARD OF A CONCEPT. People do this alll the time.

  • Ok i'll post a comment, you're damn cute :p specially when you smile,

anyway thx this was very helpful :)

  • 10 people didn't even watched this movie till the end...

  • NO YOU GUY ARE ALL TERRIBLE PIANO PLAYERS BECAUSE I WATCHED 1 VIDEO THAT SAID ITS IN G AND THAT VID IS WRONG. THIS GUY KNOWS WHAT HE"S TALKING ABOUT SO SHUT UP AND LEARN THE DAMN SONG!!!!!

  • no sound

  • GREAT TEACHER..THANK YOU

  • Can u show me how to play im in here by sia on the piano??

  • my dad originally wrote and played this song on the keyboard

  • I thought it was in G, too. I was rehearsing with band when the tune was Top 40. This was pre-CD, of course. The guitar player/band leader said it was in F#, which I thought was absurd. Who would deliberately write a basic rock/r&b tune in F#? Your record player was obviously off by 1/2 step one way or the other. Well when it was reissued in CD format, guess what? It's in F#. After having "Jazz Attitude" for 20+ years my R&R chops in E, A, & D are like "0". Any ideas? Anybody? I'm not proud.

  • right on! thanks for doing this. may i ask where do you hail from?

  • this is awesome

some of my friends and i want to play this song in our band

i play piano and this helped me a lot

    thanks ;)

  • What are the "transition" notes at seconds: 39, 43, and 46?

And what are the notes in the left hand between seconds 52 and 1:02?

    -Thanks

  • nice dude! great! :D

  • I think it's actualy in G.

  • @legopoof - yeah the original is in a different key :) I lowered it so I wouldn't have to sing so high :)

  • GREAT!!!!!5/5*****woooow

  • To Chrismarx85..in the opening lick you don't show how many times to hit each note...I hear C 5x, Bb 1x, G 1x & A 1x.....making a total of 8 beats...is that right...I wish you slow down on the lick

  • The camera angle made kind of dizzy.

    great job playing.

  • nice pirate hat dude and good job it sounds goo XD

  • Hey man, I play the keyboards too, and this is by far, one of the best instructional clips or help that I've encountered in my 30 some years of playing. Can you show me how to do Bad Company by Bad Company. I look froward to seeing it in the future.

  • omggg i <3 this song! please watch my video for old time rock and roll its on my account ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ please and thanku. haha jk, but still pleaseee :) thx!

  • this is by far one of my fav songs and the pirate hat just made it so much better lol :p

  • I am a musician and want to learn this song on piano, I just need your help of the last post.

    I do own a piano.

  • Your very good but you are too damn fast.

I cannot keep up with your hands even slow modes. My eyes cannot see it.

    .

Can you slow it down by 3/4 (slow time 3/4 slow.) or very slow.

I'm poor sighted I can't see the chords outright

    Remake the film for us.

I am a Patriot, I ask you you to help out.

  • Very good :)

  • wow.... good at piano and singing!

  • Pretty good, nice touch with the pirate hat for no reason.

  • Thank's man. you rock... please keep up the lessons... I really learned from you...

  • I would leave the singing mate. serieus

  • thanks this is helpful... but those are root-5th and root-6th double stops... not 7th's like it says on the screen... right?

  • 0:55 did he say funk or f***?

  • love it, love it. love Bob Seger & the way you teach.

  • pirate hats are goofy!

  • is that you singing?... damn

  • supposed to be in f#

    then f# - b - c#

    good transposition

  • thank you!!!!

i now know how to play this song

  • wrong key

  • TY SO MUCH

  • You didnt do any 7s in the beginning. It was a simple triad... But you are a good teacher. I think its pretty easy to understand for beginners

  • the intro part is wrong.

    it starts off with:

    G-G-G-G-F-E-D on both hands

  • it actually starts wit octave F#s, this is the wrong key.

  • It's in the wrong key...

  • bet you anything look him up my names daniel robins

    this diff utube

  • nice hat at 2:00...lmao. aewsumm thanks.

  • r u emo?

  • Good Job. You are a good teacher.

  • ive always thought this song was in a different key than C

  • It is in a different key!

Good ear, its mainly a guitar song on the recording too.

It is in the key of C here because C is a much easier key to learn on.

  • Very nice. What's the vocal melody of the song? Cause I can't sing at all and I'd really like to try it on the harmonica.

  • Love the Pirate hat!

  • SLOW DOWN!!!!

  • Excellent piano playing & excellent lesson. Love the camera angle. Since you're on Bob Seger, it would be cool if you did a lesson on Against the Wind. I can make out some of what he's playing between singing the verses but can't hear what he's doing while singing. Probably just playing a few notes here & there with his left hand but I can't make them out. Would appreciate your input. Same holds true for other piano songs. What do they do while singing? Don't think they completely stop playing.

  • nice lesson

i like your pirate hat haha

  • XD he's tone def!!

  • thanks

  • I think the monkey is tone deaf.

  • get into it

  • wrong key nice vocals though

  • Wasn't there a part two to this video? This a cool song to play. I'm working on other things right now, but will be putting this on a list of things to learn.

But, can a person learn the entire thing just from this one vid? It seems like there should be a part two.

    Thanks.

  • Its has to big parts to learn, the beginning lick and then it has its just a C blues in this version. I think the original is in a different key... but C is the easiest to play on piano.

  • NO.... in the beginning you wrote C7.... i don't se you play the 7th of the c scale...so where'd it go?... but other than that... Very helpfull... and nice playing..:D

  • Oh good point! That brings up a really key thing about lead sheets and chord symbols. Because there is so little information from leadsheets, you have more freedom to interpret them.

Sometimes I probably do play C7 with the b7 which is the correct way to play it. Its a little different every time... the important thing I think is to make sure its some kind of C major chord that fits over the mixolydian scale. (Cmajor7 wont work... only C or C7)

  • thanks for the clarification, mate... also i think its most important that you can actually hear what song it is... a C7 or a C, what's the difference as long as you can hear what song it is... can you tell me how long you've played? or is that as confidetial as asking a woman of her age?.. :P

  • I started piano when I was 5yrs old.

I worked on ear training courses a lot at Berklee.

Now I think of ear training as something that just comes naturally with playing a lot.

I also think about what the audience can "hear" Is most of my audience going to be listening for the b7s on a dominant chord?

(If I'm playing jazz in a jazz club the answer is yes, If I'm playing rock in a bar... its probably no).

  • Good Lesson, thank you.

    P.S. ROFL @ pirate hat.

  • ok your good at piano,

but like, how is that a piano lesson dude ?

its way to fast and shit so wtf ?

  • Did you watch the whole video? My videos usually start off with performance examples then go into instruction.

If the explanation at 1:30 and 2:06 2:22 are too fast for you then you need to start off with videos at your level.

Otherwise it will take you TOO long to learn this song.

Search for Easy Piano Tutorials on youtube and GOOD LUCK with your piano playing.

  • nice voice

  • I listened to the song and then this I believe it should be an octave higher.

Nice lesson though :D thanks for it :)

  • Thanks for the comment!

I think your talking about the piano right? (not the voice)

Thats pretty easy to change if you learn it in one octave or the other.

The record is with a full band and this is just an arrangement for solo piano.

  • Excellent tutorial thanks.

  • great tutorial, thank you

  • no problem :)

  • I commented twice but it did come up. Do not know why. Just want to thank you a zillion times for the time in sharing with us this lovely song and most of all the easy to follow lessons. Appreciate. Waiting for more.
