I just discovered Des Bishop, and I love his perspective on us as a people. I´ve laughed out loud at the quirky things he mentions that make us such hilarous and good people. This programme shows a side that I´m less proud, a side you´d like to hide, but its good to hear that aswell, that way we grow. Thanks Des x

I'm surprised you were allowed to talk to customers that way. I've worked in food service (and have read sociological articles on the topic); and you can be dismissed for talking back to customers--no matter HOW badly they treat you. I know you were doing a documentary and that's your style, but I'm curious: What did the employer have to say about it?

Anyway, thanks for posting this. Hopefully by sharing the experience in your stand-up, more people will give some thought to this kind of thing.

@BobCassidy randomly saw your comment here :) i'd have thought so too, unless it's written into the contract that bank holiday entitlements are waived in lieu of free food and uniform? i'd have still thought it would be illegal to include that in a contract though. regardless it's a total disgrace on so many levels

ive watched this documentary about 3 times now and me being from waterford is extremely ashamed of that carry on but i do feel that town on a sat night isnt half as bad as that anymore but of coarse there are still plenty of dopes that just let the side down.fare play to ya des excellent doc!
