  • Hey I was wondering If I could get one of your metal targets for my dad please

  • kickok45 could i plz have one of ur used paper targets sir

  • @hickok45 sir do you have a colt delta elite?

  • I think you could shoot this course with your eyes closed.

  • Those 230gr. hit like a freight train

  • i am looking to buy my 1st 1911... i own the g19, and im very happy with and trust it for my conceal carry, but... i really want a 1911. Any advice and comments will be greatly appreciated.... thanks

  • Why @10:45 did the slide not lock back after shooting 8 shots and finishing the magazine? There were no bullets in the chamber, and from what I can tell it wasn't a miss fire/improperly chambered round and the chamber wasn't cleared... Unlike @11:30 when there was a weak spring in the magazine causing an improper chambering of the round which subsequently needed to be cleared before continuing to fire the weapon...

  • if there is ever a war in america im definately coming to your house

  • very nice video i miss my 1911 a1 springfield arms .45 acp.

must get another one some day

  • @admmaddog1 i just bought the 1 of 500 a1 model and it by far my favorite gun i own

  • why are you the fuckin man!!!!

  • You shoot like hell! (the good way)

  • Oh man that was so cool, i could actually see the round fly into the gong!!! Awesome video Mr. Hickok, i appreciate it

  • hickok i compeletly respect you but why do you throw your guns down on the table ?

  • @dizz672 Dude they are tools not newborn babies. they are combat weapons. You really think that will hurt them. You are over reacting a little, I've never seen him "Throw a gun" down. They are made to take abuse and function. Have you ever served? Weapons take serious abuse all the time. Or are you just worried about the finnish?

  • i'd love to see you do some stuff with the .460 rowland conversion

  • thank you uncle Hicko, i love ur videos, and really want to learn shooting from you.

  • well i am a very good fan of the original m1911A1 so i was wondering where to buy a gun like that

  • whats the difference between the colt and the springfield? and which one is better?

  • @GeneralSchultz Depends on the model. Colt used to make the best 1911s and still make great modern ones. I like Kimbers the best but they cost alot. Colts are also kind of rare since nearly every company has 1911s.

  • i want your range

  • what part of TN do u live in??

  • Hey hickok where would be the best place to pick one of these up for a decent price? I know they aren't cheap but any insight you can give me is appreciated.

  • @lowsten check out rock island armory them great plain jane 1911s for the price $400

  • @lowsten check out rock island armory they make great 1911s for the price $400. apparently the build quality is about the same as Springfield but it's made in the Philippines if that bothers you

  • @peytonthegunnut Cool thanks man.

  • @BeyondTheHinterland, that is the problem. We can not decide.

@resqjason2, interesting: I think that if you have a gun, the rapist too has one. And if you start a firefight, than not only your wife and you are in danger, but everyone who is around. I think that is a huge price for defending ones self. But I understand what you mean, and I respect that opinion - I just could not relax in public. A gun means liability, no gun means that you are easy to harm

  • @Kuemmel234 To my understanding, some places require a license to carry.

  • You are a amazing youtube video maker, thank you for making these.

  • Hickok, are you a veteran?

  • Hickok you're awesome !!!!! Love your videos !!!!!!

  • I fired the NORINCO version of the 1911, awful gun, it rattled when you shaked it, but the .45 is nice to fire. I fired the P99 the same day and it´s a very well made gun but awful to fire. The P99 is a plain clothes gun, and it shows.

  • @Kuemmel234, Define public. Those who have been raped or murdered while moving around in public would probably like to answer this one for me. I've not had to use the fire extinguisher in my house, OR the fire insurance I have on my house. I'd hate not to have it, though.

  • @hickok45, there you got a point. But I mean on the street. While shopping, while in the city - I would carry a gun too if I was in/on countryside(nearly everthing here is suburb though). When I look on the numbers, I see that you have far more crimes than we do - so I am wondering if that is the reason.

  • @hickok45 I´m split when it comes to public carry, on one hand, I know I can do it without starting a firefight every time there is a problem, but there is a lot of odd people out there and we shouldn´t make it easier for them to arm themselves...

  • @swertinge07, Oh, I see, you are in Sweden. In this country it's not a question whether to make it easy for people to have guns. Our Second Amendment has guaranteed to keep it easy for everybody to have guns for over 200 years. That question was answered long ago for us, and millions carry firearms in public every day. It's only the thugs that cause problems, as has always been the case and always will be the case.

  • @hickok45 i wish the ponce of a prime minister David cameron would see this. did you know its now against the law for a friend to borrow you gun in the uk, assuming you yourself can get past the miles of paperwork. all because a couple of chavs got hold of a gun.

  • @hickok45 Amen to that. "An armed society is a polite society."

  • @hickok45 Actually, owning a gun in Sweden isn´t that difficult. You have to be active in a gun club, pass a registry check and that´s it.

And should you make it easier for the thugs to have guns, even if we are the 10th most armed people in the world, no one went to a school and shoot kids.

  • @swertinge07 Anything that a criminal can do with a firearm is already highly illegal in the United States. Blaming lawful gun owners for the actions of career criminals is a mistake.

  • @hickok45

  • @hickok45 In Italy it's quite easy to buy a gun, very difficult to have CC license: so only gangster's can easily get all kind of weapon they like: this mean that prohibitionism doesn't help to prevent bad guys to have a gun, only to make more difficoult for honest citizens to protect theirselves. In USA you have true freedom and all the people who disagree are only jealous

  • Comment removed

  • @hickok45 except in new jersey! haha

  • @hickok45 -- once again your level headed approach to this realm prevails. That is the simplest, truest and indisputable answer to the "carry" question.

  • @hickok45 hickok45 could i have a signed used paper target signed by u plz sir and maybe a spent round too thnx

  • @swertinge07 Firearms are like condoms. "Its better to have one and not need it, than NEED one and not have it"

  • @hickok45 well and there is the question if you can use a weapon like a gun to defend yourself if you are not willing to kill the enemy

and also if you are probably not giving them an other weapon to act against you

a gun is pretty useless if the enemy is closer than 12 meters

and a rapist will not cry out hey im going to rape you and then charge at you XD

  • @TheLordZhufor a gun is never useless and if someone is 12 maters away or closer that just makes your job easier

  • @peytonthegunnut not really

you need to pull the gun out

    chamber a round

    and aim at your opponent

    in that time

the opponent makes 3-4 long steps and takes away your gun or stabs you with his knive

a gun is pretty useless unless the enemy is in a distance greater than 15 meters

  • @TheLordZhufor well most people carry the 1911 or any other gun cocked and locked

  • @Kuemmel234 look up the FBI stats for rape, murder, assault, home invasion. when you need help the police are minutes away. so you have to deal with someone holding you down while his buddy rapes your wife in an alley. the cops are only coming if someone calls them first. i would rather carry my gun everyday and never need it than to go without and have my family hurt or murdered or kidnapped and i couldnt do a damn thing about it except file a police report and hope for the best. take your pick

  • @Kuemmel234 It depends on where you live I guess... I have had stuff stolen from me and my mother was chased around her car one night in a hospital parking lot by 3 men. It was lucky for her a couple men saw it going on and rushed over to help her out. You really just never know, and its better to be prepared than to not be prepared.

  • @Kuemmel234 I know youre asking hickok but for me personally, i just feel safer knowing that its there if and when i need it. It's just like the president having an armored car or something. You feel that sense of protection and you know that you can go outside without have to worry about being shot or robbed.

  • @SourLikeWorms, I want to learn, so I appreciate your answer. I can understand it. Maybe I have to visit the US some time to understand it.

  • @Kuemmel234 Few people want to be in a situation where they have to defend themselves, but few people want to be in a car wreck and few people want their house to burn down. And only a few people will experience any of these.

We still have seatbelts though and don't rely on just Hospitals for wrecks.

We still have extinguishers though and don't rely on just Fire Dept. for fires.

And we have CCW's and don't rely on police to be around the corner at every sign of danger.

  • @Kuemmel234 i had my airsoft version of the 1911 and i'm pretty sure it saved my live . due to the realism of the replica, when i pulled it out,the robbers fled ...they had big knives...

  • @mikelagaffe, be lucky that they had just knifes. Thanks for sharing! It is just that you are a threat for everyone. You got a gun. Someone can pull it for you and kill with it. That happens, happened a lot, especially in the US. There is so much more crime with shootouts(and deads) than in Germany or Britain. I understand the point. But I just could not relax if everyone could have a gun around me. I hope for the US that idiots like Ted Nugent disappear and that a real dialogue can be started.

  • @Kuemmel234 i wouldn't carry a real gun ,in fact i was going home after a game...and for your info i live in canada, where to carry a handgun you need a license...well you need a truckload of licenses...

  • @mikelagaffe, I thought it was like in here germany: You can not carry but own them. Also no automatic guns or bigger calibres. Well: Then we are thinking the same. But in a country like the USA, would you carry a gun there? I would own many of them(I am very often here on this channel, I love vintage guns) But I am not sure about carrying.

  • @Kuemmel234 i would carry one in some cities of the u.s...again it depends on where you live...

  • @mikelagaffe, yeah, so it seems.

  • @Kuemmel234 Theres an old saying that goes "I would rather have it not need it, than need it and not have it"........ I carry at least two if not three knives with me at all times. Do I need to? No but it is nice to know I have the option to choose them if i need them

  • @katana888 yeah, you are right about that, but then again: Every gun is a danger to the people around you. And there are enough idiots. Just look on the killing statistics in the US and European countries. Countryside is one thing and even owning guns is fine(I will own weapons myself when I am allowed to) but on the streets guns are more dangerous than helpfull, because everyone can have one. In germany the biggest problems are knifes. If someone gets shot it was the police.

  • @Kuemmel234 Shut it or get it!

  • My uncle has that same 1911 with a parkerized finish.

  • i love your video

i am a Taiwanese living in taiwan so.. no gun here:((( only airsoft...

  • This is better than anything on cable

  • What's your opinion on Springfield 1911s VS Colt 1911s? I want a 1911 but I'm more of a rifleman and don't want to spend the money on a Colt 1911.

  • @TheSilas324 Go with a springfield armory Gi-45. It's a quality made rugged gun that won't break the bank, I've never had any problems with mine that my own stupidity didn't cause and it outshoots me everytime ( although a smoothbore musket could probably do that too) it's not quite as smooth as a colt but its a no frills gun thats just designed to work and its the perfect gun if your looking to get into a 1911

  • am i the only one who wants the target signed?

  • I really wish Springfield still offered blued Mil Spec models.

I also wish they'd ramp up production on their Mil Specs. They're almost impossible to find, and they're getting ridiculously expensive.

  • can't belive this gun is 100 years old

  • @HelterSkelterSOR

A 100 years and the design still sees service.

I, for one, am proud of John Moses Browning.

I may not be American, or Mormon, but I'm still proud of him.

  • Is there anything better than a 1911 I think not love em

  • i got some soft drinks that need shooting too mr. hickok

  • i absolutely love my GI

  • @LegendofHogger Isn't that exactly what the phuk I just said? To bring low knee and dirt shots up to mid torso while "instinctive" or "point-hip" shooting. Are you special ed? You really need to read and comprehend what people post B-E-F-O-R-E you spout off dumb shit like you do.

  • Also, you are quite the long range handgunner! Keep it up!

  • Hickok45, you have no idea how bad I wish I was your nextdoor neighbor!!!!

Cheers from MD 30 min NW of Washington, DC!

  • The rumor-legend I heard while in XVIII ABN corp armorer school was that the mainspring housing was changed because back during the turn of the century "hip" shooting like a cowboy was popular and most troops shot low in the dirt or the kneecaps area. The rounded housing pushed against the palm to raise the natural "hip" pointing of the weapon to mid torso.

  • how far away is the gong??

  • Sorry, bugger Superbowl. If I had a back yard like Hickok45....well, I've got several favorite television activities that would fall WAY behind. LOVE your facilities, old friend!

  • do you ever get ricochets ?

  • so how do you think a springfield gi would compaire to a ria... i was thinking of getting a 1911 this year and the only difference i can tell is the price. ria a1 is 480 and springfield a1 is 699.

  • @dp665 The RIA is just fine. I have 3 of them and most of my shooter friends own at least one, and nobody i know has ever had a problem. It shoots just like my Colts. In fact, they are made on old Colt equipment. Don't let the price fool you, they are fantastic 1911's.

  • @dp665 centerfiresystems . com has the BEST prices on a new RIA i have seen bar none and that is where I purchased mine from. You can get the tactical version for $420 and the mil spec is $379. rrhmorgan is right when he said that they shoot very very well.

I have only been shooting for about 10 months now and my RIA was the FIRST 1911 I ever shot and w/ the 1st magazine I was able two put all 8 rnds pretty much on bull eye at 20 yrds. They could all fit on a credit card for sure.

  • Nice video We Love Shooting Over Here TheRedNeckChannel org

  • hello mr. hickok,

you seem lick a big guy.. don't you ever get hammer bites from GI type 1911s? I ordered a RIA GI 1911 and i really wish to keep it that way, but my worry is getting hammer bte. Is there a proper way to hold the gun in order to not get the hammer bite? Thanks

  • @manonglakas, Only from the original 1911 models. If I stretch my thumb out to the left, I tend not to get the hammer bite.

  • @hickok45 sir, have you ever done a video on a thompson m1a1, or thompson versions?

  • what brand night sights are on your newer 1911?

  • always a pleasure to watch you mr hickok.from one tenn resident to another, enjoying your videos and insight into firearms.

  • I think you need to invite all your subscribers to a shoot and BBQ. We'll bring you (the Master) gifts of bullets, frankincense and magazines.

  • @FranklinFirstPastor If he invites me to that, I will bring him any handgun he wishes to have.

  • Hickok, you never respond to my comments... will you please answer this one, lol... I am going to buy a new 1911 tomorrow, my first 1911, can you recommend a good one? I mean I know springfield, kimber, colt all make good ones but I am curious to what you would suggest since I watch all of your videos and value your opinion. I have around $1100 to spend, Thanks!

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI im not hickkok but i would go for colt 1911 1991 year

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 Thanks for the advice but I am not really a fan of Colt. I know they are the originals and they are probably great guns but I ended up going with the Springfield "MC" operator.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI thats kool man.great buy..have fun shooting..

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 Thanks a lot. Check out my review if you get a chance, thanks again.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI

Can't go wrong at all with a Springfield, or even the Rock Island Armory guns.

  • @Immortal91Technique Thanks for the advice, I ended up buying a Springfield "MC" operator. One hell of a gun, thats for sure.. I uploaded a review of it. Those Rock Island Armory 1911's don't look to bad considering the price tag, not at all.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI

    Wow, congratulations! I am jealous.

The Rock Islands are awesome pistols, but compared to the MC Operator, I'm sure there's no contest.

  • @Immortal91Technique Haha, thanks... yeah the MC is a beautiful gun and it's the most accurate gun i've ever owned (out of the box). I had to choose it because i've always wanted that particular gun but I will probably buy a Rock Island because I want a more traditional 1911 (i.e 1911 without a rail) and I can't spend another $1200 dollars for another 1911.. lol.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI

If traditional is what you're after, the Rock GI won't disappoint.

I LOVE the MEU(SOC) type pistols like the MC Operator, I just wish they made that particular model without the rail.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI A colt is a good brand. Springfield armory is a good brand. I would get the Colt.

  • @esh325 I looked long and hard at both Colts and Springfield (and a couple Kimbers) when I ended up buying one, I went with the SF. You are right, Colt is great but I honestly think that Colts are a bit over rated. The fit and finish on the Springfield was superior to the Colt and I can't comment on how accurate the Colt is since I didn't shoot it but the SF is the most accurate gun i've shot out of the box. Love the grips as well.

  • i wish they made some plain jane blued 1911a1s- hey hickok, do you know of any companies that make them like that anymore- i tried springfield, smith and wesson, colt, RIA, armscor, ruger, but no luck- i really am not a fan of parkerised finishes- but i geuss i might have to settle

  • FPS Russia's Dad!

  • It's Grandpa Springfield Lol I Love You Man You Rock!

  • also a thrd question: HOW DO U NOT HAV ARTHRITIS? or do u?

  • hey hickok, i hav 2 questions.

    1. my friend had a 1911 and carried it everywhere he could. he kept it cocked and locked and one day, the safety slipped in his holster and he shot himself in the leg or foot somewhere. my question is: wouldnt a safety that can only be disengaged while holding the grip safety be a good idea?

    and 2. whats hickok?

  • @RANDUMBGOOD Can answer that for you, m1911 is a condition one style Semi-auto, meaning you need to ready the hammer for the first shot. Most modern 1911's have 2 safeties, an integral grip safety, and a manual engage safety, which only functions after the hammer is readied. But as anyone will tell you, common sense should always be your first safety, and despite all precautions, accidents will happen when we are most comfortable.

Just remember, always treat a gun as though it's loaded

  • @RANDUMBGOOD I have a hard time believing your story. My 1911's generally have a very strong and tactile thumb safety. Not only that, but they also bear a grip safety to specifically avoid accidental actuation of that single action trigger. That grip safety would have to be fully depressed in order to fire that handgun. Meeting this criteria is hard to do when the handgun is holstered... because the trigger is protected by the holster.

  • @24Rorschach Well thats also barring 'modification, yes, there are some people erm ... 'stupid' enough to mess with things they shouldn't, including safeties, just look at those people that 'bump' fire >_>

  • How can you dislike this video? Specially with 1911.1911 Colt is the most beautiful hand gun in the world and Hickok45 explains things so well, thanx Hickok ;)

  • Hell yeah...the Saints won!!!!!!

  • i don't get it, a desert eagle and an m82 both fire .50 cal cartridges, but the sniper round is way bigger, why are they both called .50?

  • @MrStrontipis The bullets are the same size. However, the Desert Eagle fires a pistol version or the .50 calibre cartridge, which is shorter and doesn't contain as much gun powder as the M82's .50 calibre BMG cartridge.

  • hey greg- i think oyu know better than me- but i thaught they came out with the arched mainspring housing in 1927- or atleast production started in 1927

  • best gun vids on the net. love your channel

  • how many different types of 1911 are there?

  • @badassmarine50 alot

  • I have one of those under my bed... :)

  • be my grandad...

  • I love my Kimber 1911. Best pistol I have ever fired

  • was this 1911 used by the us army during the ww2? or it was made later?.

  • @kjsh987 no he said it was made in 1990

  • @kjsh987 No, if you mean the M1911 Pistol then you're right. (looks the same but fires different)

And the M1911 was also used in World War 1 up to now.

  • 10:35 gong win!!!

  • what kind of ear protection do you recommend

  • Hello, Mr. Hickok.

is that a springfield GI 1911 or the mil spec?

  • favorite superbowl sir?

  • that cam picks up the bullet travel really good

  • My favourite handgun, very top of my list, i like the ww2 ones but the new nickel one takes my breath away, could you do a down the barrel view shoot on the new one plz? Im dying to see what it is like down the barrel being fired!

  • Comment removed

  • I fucking love the 1911!!! :)

    Nice Videos hickok45!

  • you got any .50 caliber guns?

  • whats the difference between a springfield 1911 and a colt 1911?

  • Why couldn't you be my grand pappy, or at least my cool uncle

  • You're a True American! Thank you for the Video! I have a pair of Ruger P90 .45's I've owned for the last 15 years.. .45 round is king!

  • love your videos man!!!!!!!

  • Greetings from Brazil. Congratulations for the videos, Mr.HickoK45.

  • You have an awesome voice. Seriously.

  • can you make a video about the rock island armory? tanks

  • Were there any other 1911 manufacturers other than Colt in the 60's and 70's?

  • Hickok45, thank you for all of your video reviews. Your reviews are the only ones I watch anymore, I help out in a gun shop & I am still learning about all the different models. I had no idea how much I didn't know... I shoot as many as I can, your videos are very professional & helpful, thanks for keeping it strait & to the point. Now if only I could afford to shoot as much as you do:)

  • have you heard the term. "its not a 1911 unless its a colt"?

  • I like to Spring field G.I. Model.

  • Mr.Hickok 45 how to get a target let me know i want one.. nice vdeo to

  • Classic John Browning designed firepower, how could you go wrong. I am a little partial to my Kimber CDP II though.

  • Hickok, Have you seen or know anything about the new Remington 1911-r1? I am torn between a Springfield 1911-A1, beaver tail, cherry grips, or a new Remington model. What is your personal opinion?

  • where is this i envy you being able to just go outback and shoot what happened to this country

  • What's your opinion of the Taurus 1911

  • Hello. I have the springfield 1911 loaded. Do you shoot hollow points at targets or target loads? Especially at the steel targets? Whats the distance of your steel range for pistols?

  • i love this gun

  • For me the 1911 is the best pistol in the world I love my springfield 1911. The 1911 makes 9mm look like toys in comparison.

  • Once you've shot a good 1911, everything else seems second best.

  • Dont mess with this guy :o

  • Happy 100th Birthday 1911!

  • @grayman246 ugh its actually like 102~103 it was adopted in the army in 1911 not invented

  • @grayman246 it just joined the US Army in 1911 it was patented in 1902 so is real 100th birthday was in 2002
