Michael Moore has probably done more for America than the last 16 American presidents. So long as you dont care who your Lord is, then everyone will be your lord.
You are in the lower middle class? Well I guess you want to be a slave then. Your boss wants you to quick wasting time on youtube and work harder SLAVE. You aren't part of the plutocracy if you have to work for a living. You are just mouthing words so you can think you are free and superior to somebody. Go clock in SLAVE, your master is calling.
You are a conservative plutocrat, not a libertarian. You define freedom as dollar signs. "Liberty" to you is greed. Your definition of freedom is the ability to make a profit out of your profession. Some conservatives put their emphasis on privilege based on wealth (plutocracy, capitalism) others on privilege based on religion (theocracy, religious Right).
@perdondaris hey, i'm not rich or greedy. I am in the low middle class with a modest paying job that I EARNED, and am struggling due to taxes. IF i was simply allowed to earn my own money and KEEP what i EARNED, i would not be struggling. How can you call me a wealthy plutocrat, when my rightfully earned wealth is not in my pocket but is stolen by you socialist thieves. You say wealthy class rules. Wrong, you can vote or even run for president, majority decides if you win. Got anymore?
@subscribefori Yes I got one for ya. I honestly don't believe you have a well paying job. In fact I'm almost certain you are under age. Socialist thieves eh? In Europe people pay more taxes yet they are doing pretty fine compared to USA. You know why? Because they got socialists over there.
@TheBlindPowerslave I beg to differ. When europe was engulfed in war, unemployment, etc., America was thriving. Why is it failing now? Socialist intervention in our country along with government bailouts, corruption, and loss of the gold standard, why is europe doing fine? Well frankly for you Europeans your doing fine, but thats not saying much compared to American success over the decades prior reasons stated above.
Michael Moore is not perfect but he is more credible than Penn and Teller. P&T are paid capitalist propagandists. Thus independent scientific research that contradicts their master's cant is "fascism or Stalinism". The misinformation P&T spread are one of the reasons I post on Youtube. All libertarians are socialists. If you are a libertarian you are also a socialist. The other kind of "libertarian" is just a fraud, a hack paid to justify privilege and tyranny.
@perdondaris please explain that last libertarian part to me. I am a conservative libertarian. I favor free market, but with maximum human rights and foreign policy not being the policeman of the world, please explain how you can say a conservative libertarian is also a socialist?
@subscribefori I think he's saying that the free market leads to less income gaps. And IDEALLY...extremely ideally, everyone's income is the same in a free market because everyone has the same opportunities. Conservative libertarian is VERY far from socialist though...
I understand the concept of government and authority. In capitalism and Soviet Communism everyone has a boss. If you think you can have a pure plutocracy ("true capitalism") without state sponsored terrorism (what is often called Fascism or Stalinism) you are delusional. The USA is not and has never been a democratic republic anymore than North Korea is a democratic republic. There is an Oligarchy that uses property (i.e. wealth) and God (i.e. theocracy) to maintain it's own Order.
michael is a fat lard with stupidity spewing from his obese mouth. His philosophy: if you work hard and earn a lot of money, you should spend that money on taking care of people who totally don't earn their money. dude go eat a shit pie
We are told that they can not pay a living wage and workers have to live off Minimum wage so they can have 5-10 big big homes, all the cars they ever want the best health care yada yada yada.
Workers have to suffer so they can live so well.
It is clear they can not manage resources and the state has to take over all business activities now.
All profits goes to the state, benefiting all workers and citizens.
We do not need evil greedy rich anymore. they serve no purpose.
I am 19 years old. I have vague views on political parties - mainly shaped by TV and my parents perceptions. But I want to know more about politics - the extremes; the left and right wings, the hallmarks, the milestones - so that I can judge for myself who I want to support!
@asorryone you should look up Free to Choose with Milton Friedman here on YouTube. its a television series based on a book by the same. Don't fall into the whole leftwing/rightwing democrat/republican nonsense, Freedom is the answer, not government or bipartisan politics that divide us all, Freedom brings us all together.
Hey scattnam, if you can't handle that capitalism is money grubbing, privilege and fraud don't go ape on me. Bailouts are part of capitalism. Big government is part of capitalism. It has been a might big propaganda campaign to convince gullible people that socialism is big government. Guess what? All those wars and all those stupid religions? They are for profit capitalism enterprises. but you can keep buying the capitalist oligarchy's bullshit if it eases your insecurity.
Moore truly doesn't know what capitalism is. He believe capitalism is bad when it really is corporatism. Capitalism isn't the government favoring the corporations, corporatism is. A bailout is not capitalism, in fact, it's the opposite. Corporatism is truly a bad thing and is frequently mislabeled as capitalism. People need to get their facts straight before they capitalism is evil.
Actually government money is responsible for computer technology and the internet, not the free market. Same for highways, airports and trains. If it wasn't for government funding there would be no internet. Only the government has enough capital to start large programs involving extensive infrastructure. So it isn't capitalism.
@perdondaris HEY FUCKHEAD! blah blah so you support BIGGGG GOVNMENT RETART !!!! HEY DERP DERP I LIKE BIG GOVMENT I WANT TO BE FED AND JAILED IN PRISON FOR LIFE FOR MY PROTECTION DERP DERP I LOVE LIBERALISM EVEN THOUGH I WILL LOOSE ALL MY FREEDOM FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! Google "Capitalism, World Power"
i think the worst part about all the terrible shit we do to each other and to the world as human beings is the fact that we know what we're doing wrong and we even have a good idea on how to fix it, yet we still don't.
Conservatism can best be explained in this matter (if you wonder why conservatives love war, religion and hate environmentalism and worker's rights). Conservatism is about making money and maintaining privilege. War, religious lying, nonrenewable energy and slavery are very lucrative adventures. Peace, green energy, worker's rights, and honest philosophy do not pay very well. It's all about the Benjamins.
Share the wealth, help me to fund one year of study. The American people are held hostage by a small group of gangsters. It's organized crime, and has nothing to do with democracy. It's Germany 1933-1945 all over again.
@fomsad123 Corporatism is capitalism. Maybe 300 years ago you could have capitalism without corporate bureaucracy but in the modern world that is impossible. Think about all of the things that need to be supervised, managed and planned to run a large industry.
@Scattnam are you FUCKING RETARDED? WE CONSERVATIVES SUPPORT FREEDOMS, WE CONSERVATIVES SUPPORT A HEALTHY STRONG MILITARY SO OUR FREEDOMS ARE PROTECTED YOU FUCKHEADS JUST WANT TO "punish the successful and help the fucking deadbeats" Fuck them, if you are POOR THATS YOUR FAULT RETARD!
We live in a corporate society, not a capitalist society.
Capitalism, in its purest form, has only existed in the form of merchant capitalism, which of course is almost all marketplace systems before the creation of joint stock companies and corporations
Under a capitalist society, those banks and corporations would not have received help from a higher entity. Capitalism is a distraction to what's really going on between Wall St. and the government. It's easy to blame capitalism, because it's easier to make people upset with an ideology instead of the government and the big banks who allowed for this corruption. Why doesn't Michael Moore ever talk about the federal reserve or the housing bubble that contributed to the crisis?
I'm a Communist and if you people would read Marx you would know that he predicted world's economic downfalls! It is in the Capitalistic nature to collapse every some time. It never worked, it doesn't work and capitalism will not work. Workers of the world, unite!
@PdP4ever YES COMRADE rebel overthrow the upper class Communism is a much better alternative just look at where it has worked Russia, North Korea and Cuba. Under its policies of economic equality millions have starved, been killed and denied civil rights VIVA LA REVOLUCION you fucking idiot
Capitalism is no love story, it is a death story... and countless millions continue to die across our world in the most miserable poverty, starvation, and deprivation all in to the year 2012.
Why in our world of such beauty and material abundance should human life be reduced to such a pity? Is this our true potential? Down with the capitalists, I say... Death to capitalism.
Such a system cannot be the end of history, down with all forms of oppression, exploitation, and tyranny !
@wnxsilence YES COMRADE rebel overthrow the upper class Communism is a much better alternative just look at where it has worked Russia, North Korea and Cuba. Under its policies of economic equality millions have starved, been killed and denied civil rights VIVA LA REVOLUCION you fucking idiot
@grad9559 LOL, tell it to the tens of millions of massacred Native Americans whom the U.S founded itself on the stolen lands of... not to mention the millions of Africans who were enslaved and murdered under U.S capitalism throughout the 19th century... If I wanted to write about capitalist crimes in the 20th century, it would be a book. I've already uploaded a short documentary on them.
By the way, today 27,000 children die around the world of easily preventable causes. That's capitalism.
So you would rather have the government cause the poverty, starvation, and deprivation as it is in Communism? Capitalism puts a person's fate in his own hands. It teaches him to think in order to survive. If he's poor, he's poor because of his own actions. If he's rich, he's rich because of his own actions. Capitalism rewards those who work hard, and punishes those who don't. YOU choose how you want to live. YOU. Not the government, not your next door neighbor. YOU.
@TheSuperBethany No, I wouldn't. And by the way, I don't think total government control and private corporate ownership are the only two possibilities. Only someone with a small range of thought and imagination, or brainwashed by the dominant ideology of "free-market" capitalism would believe that there is no other way of life.
And the myth that people are "free" in Capitalism is laughable. Yes, the ninty-nine percent are free to die, or become wage slaves... Just look at capitalism world-wide.
Wow. My intelligence and imagination were insulted in one comment. Bravo, you've really earned my respect! Oh hail, great socialist leader!
Capitalism world-wide? Have you lost your mind? Most countries are the mix between Capitalism and Socialism. China, still looked at as a Communist nation, is a mix. The United States, looked to be Capitalist, is a mix. Spain, a mix. All of Europe: a mix.
Furthermore, do you have proof to back up that the "free" mentioned in Capitalism does not exist? In the early beginning of the United States, we were mostly Capitalist. Even the Federalists, like George Washington, who liked a bigger Federal government, had many Capitalistic views. There was less government, less taxes, and more freedoms. The Constitution was generally well followed except in certain circumstances, like when Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase from France.
@TheSuperBethany I don't need to prove anything, you're the one making the claim that Capitalism is inherently "Free." So, why don't you provide some evidence to back up this arguement?
Also, I did not mean to cause any offense earlier... my point, simply was that why should you and everyone limit the possibilities only to "Capitalism" and "Communism" ... "Free-Markets" or "Socialism." Most people, don't even know the actual meaning of these words...
Yes, I do believe you have something to prove, as you claim to want "death to Capitalism," and have also said, "down with the Capitalists." These claims deserve some explaining other than opinions or emotional thinking.
How is Capitalism free? Let me get something straight first: government bailouts or hand outs to private companies is not, and will never be a Capitalistic ideal. The idea of Capitalism--in it's true form--limits government power in order to give this money.
Capitalism is free in it's way of limiting government authority. Few regulations and laws. There need be only enough laws to keep the peace with in the population. This means that the people are wholly economically and personally free. However, true Capitalism has never fully existed. It did dominate the United States at one point, but we are no longer Capitalist and will never be again.
@TheSuperBethany So anyone with some ideal conception of what "Capitalism" is will inevitably be confronted by the harsh realities of the world. I myself, happen to be a staunch critic rather than supporter of the capitalist system and so called "free-markets." My opinion is that people themselves should be sovereign human beings, and for this to be realized, concentrations of power and authority must always be challenged.
There should be laws protecting workers, of course, if it interferes with their pursuit of happiness. Ex: Refusing to pay them. Workers should be allowed to change jobs no matter what the circumstances without their life being threatened. That is the beauty of Capitalism. If one company is not paying them enough or overworks them, the worker can leave. And because Capitalism provides for competition, the worker should have no problem finding another job.
@TheSuperBethany Yes I agree, obviously your idea of what Capitalism ideally and truly should be probably never even existed. I'm aware people such as Adam Smith and the founding fathers of the United States had a conception of capitalism based on fairness, equality, and most importantly a leveled playing field for all to compete. Certainly, a free market won't result in these conditions unless the starting point of competition was equally fair and all had the same opportunities.
@wnxsilence However, such conditions have never existed in history... during capitalism, feudalism, slavery, or any modern social system since the industrial revolution. Those with concentrated capital and power, have always used it to tilt the game in their favor. I'm not sure if you know the exact history of the industrial revolution, but industrial capitalism was built to a large extent by massive state subsidy and protection ....not competition.
@wnxsilence absolutely right. Capitalism isn't fair because not everyone is born equal as our Constitution attempts to doctrine. Some people are born into poverty and thus are offered less opportunities than those who are born into more prominent families. Money is power in this country, and money buys an Education and peoples opinions. On paper Capitalism is beautiful, In practice it's devastatingly horrific. Humans are flawed by nature, selfish and greedy and that's why Capitalism doesn't work
Capitalism has made America the world power it is today! Go read a history book about any situation in which socialism has made a country prosper at the level America has, that is if you are educated enough to read.
@jazzplayer95 Capitalism? Are you kidding me? Hard-work and diligent effort by generations of Americans made us who we are today. We don't even live in a capitalist society anymore. Why don't you check out "Crony Capitalism" and see how much that applies to the United States in modern era. You're ignorant to think that Capitalism has made America how it is today. It's in bad taste that you ignore the work that our Congress has done, as well as the perseverance of the every-day American.
@AnthonyKanuk i used to agree with your last sentence about humans but recently ive been debating it. is it possible we were taught to be greedy, selfish, etc?
@TheSuperBethany The American textile industry, for example, could never dream of competing with British imports during the nineteenth century. It was only because U.S government tariffs, not to mention state subsidies, that America was able to develop any globally competitive industry what so ever. This is especially true of agriculture, where if producers are not protected from competition a nation's farming sector could easily be destroyed by some cheaper foreign import.
@TheSuperBethany Only when the people themselves have taken a meaningful part in running their own affairs and that of their communities, directly and democratically, can it be said that conditions of freedom and independence exist. It's my view that people should be free to the extent that their own freedom does not infringe on the freedom of others.
@TheSuperBethany When one man owns vast tracts of land and property, while another person is denied his very means of sustenance and life, I believe the ladder who's freedom to live is denied has the right to struggle for the same freedom that the former enjoys. We are not just isolated individuals, economically speaking, conditions that exist for one person have an affect on those that exist for all.
Law alone has never guaranteed the rights or freedoms of all, did you forget about slavery?
Capitalism causes poverty, starvation, and deprivation? Then why did Haitian refugees swim 500 miles to "evil", capitalist America, when they could have swam just 50 miles to "wonderful" socialist Cuba? Capitalism has created jobs, raised our standard of living, and has benefited the majority of society. You my friend are the product of the liberal brainwashing education system in America.
@wnxsilence i dont know we have material abundance. i hear were running out. yet the whole system of capitalism SUPPORTS maximum consumption of materials. not to mention alot of the technology we buy is DESIGNED TO FAIL AND BE OBSOLETE. michael moore is very right at the end of the the film by saying we must protest, its the only thing thats gonna make a good change for humanity. cant count on the politicians and rarely could we ever.
@wnxsilence YOU ARA A FUCKING IDIOT!!! SO YOU THINK RENEWABLE ENERGY WOULD HAVE EXISTED WITHOUT CAPITALISM?? YOUR COMPUTER WAS FROM CAPITALISM! MEDICINES, SPACE ETC ALL OF THE SCIENCE ARE FROM CAPITALISM! YOU ARE FUCKING STUPID! I BET YOU ARE SOME LIB-TARD CUNT WHO IS A GREEN TREEHUGGER NAZI FUCK YOU! I bet you think socialism is good. GOOGLE NORTH KOREA OR CUBA, FORMER SOVIET RUSSIA DUMBFUCK THOSE WERE/ARE SOCIALIST COUNTRIES THEY ARE RIDDEN IN POVERTY!
started with feudalism, communism, socialism, capitalism, corporatism,,,,, of them all capitalism works best but with regulation, we all ate the property cake and all to blame, BUT common people didnt get a bailout and thats wrong!!
Russia hasn't been Communist since 1991. I can't wait till the day North Korea becomes capitalist and democratic too. No dictatorship can last forever.
@TheTollundWoman Yes, all forms of tyranny and oppression. The Juche regime in North Korea is an authoritarian dictatorship without the slightest connection to any remotely Socialist or Communist ideal. Just because a country has a one party tyranny and that party happens to have the name "Worker" "Labor" or even "Communist" in it, does not mean Socialism or "Communism" exists in that country. I'm a Communist, and I recommend you look at the actual meaning of Socialism and Communism.
@TheTollundWoman You are a Jewish person or Israeli by connection no? and I'm wondering why you seem to completely miss the oppression of Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories? Or perhaps, Israel's killing fields and concentration camps in Lebanon during the 80's aggression.
Also, I'm Russian, and I was born in the former USSR. As I said, I believe in Socialism and there was nothing remotely Socialist about the Soviet Union pre-1991... and certainly not, during Stalin's regime.
No, I have never even *been* to Israel let alone lived there (although I've heard its a beautiful country). As for religion I am an Agnostic and I don't practice an organized religion (although I was raised Methodist).
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict? How did that come up? if you are that curious about my opinion: I support an independent Palestinian state, alongside Israel, an end to the "settlements" and occupation, and an end to discrimination against Arabs in Israel itself. But what does Israel/Palestine/Lebanon have to do with communism and capitalism?
@TheTollundWoman You should at least be impartial when you mention global injustice and human rights. Anyway, the Palestine question is very much connected to the present international order, i.e "capitalism." What is being perpetrated in Israel-Palestine is not to the benefit of either the Arab or Jewish inhabitants of that region, and arguably it is very much to the detriment and being done for other reasons. I think we must look at the whole system if we want to understand this or that issue.
@TheTollundWoman No, I would be just as content to discuss the brutal tyranny in North Korea as I would Israel-Palestine... My thesis, simply remains that the global injustices, violations of human rights, mass misery and violence we witness in our world today is very much at root and a symptom of the international system itself. We can not isolate these issues from one another, what we can do is examine them all impartially and objectively.
@TheTollundWoman Now, may I ask is it that you want to only discuss North Korea and the other dictatorships that you claim are "Communist" and avoid discussing "capitalism" and the present day international system we have in our world. What was this video about?
I think you may be confused, I am over 5000 miles from Tel Aviv. But I have to admit Yasser Arafat's friendship with Kim Il Sung certainly didn't improve my opinion of the PLO.
@cheapcape I support neither. Socialism failed 20 years ago and capitalism is failing right now. Hell I don't want to go back to what has already failed.
Its simple everyone wants more. The rich want more and the.poor want more. The real solution to the problem is not destroying finacial freedom or completly abolishing government involvment. The truth is that education is the key. If you look at the rich in america today you will realise that they have to have a some grasp of knowlege and i could go into why capitalism is good but the truth is that.education is the foundation that makes capitalism work. And Marx is not the greatest philospher.
Watched this in economics class? Woow, that's just ridiculous. Anyway, this movie is a docudrama that is presented by a man who believes in collectivism over individuals. He is for tyranny of the collective over the freedom of the individual. It is the use of force for the "greater good." But the money that is used to perform this forced act of "good" must first be taken from another individual and many others at the guidelines of force.
In the final stages of decaying capitalism, technology increases to a point where workers are no longer needed leading to mass unemployment and revolution among the working class. K. Marx
The irony here is Michael Moore (aka the Socialist Messiah) is a multi-millionaire by making a life out of bashing the same system that's made him so wealthy in the firstplace.
And he was right. And you know why? Because in these final stages of Capitalism here in the United States, Socialism begins to overshadow, creating a system that it some-what Capitalist and some-what Socialist. These disputes combined with corrupt politicians and the languorous lower middle class, cause the hard-working working class to revolt against the government. The hard workers revolt because they feel cheated, however it deems to be of no use. Communism eventually prevails.
It's true that capitalism has been disasterous for the environment and for human beings generally, but how would socialism be any better? Look at the USSR - they destroyed the enviornment at least as much as we did and put a clamp on human freedom worse than anything imaginable in the West. Plus they contributed to other problems like nuclear weapons, overpopulation, etc. How then is socialism the answer?
If Mother Teresa were running the Soviet Union do you think it would've been much different? I mean, maybe there wouldn't have been gulags, but surely the average persons ability to influence things would've been nil no matter who was in charge. The capacity of people to have control over their own lives has very little to do with the morality of government officials.
@duckdown1993 The main problem with the Soviet Union was that it was not democratic not the people who were running it. Communism is supposed to be the democratic workers control of the means of production, distribution and exchange. And a system based on production for need not profit. That didn't happen in the Soviet Union or in any other so called socialist country. In order for socialism to work it has to be entirely democratic.
Its funny. They have been destroying the lives of billions overseas in countries like mine in conditions you Americans could never dream of! Yet you are enraged by a tragedy that's a breeze compared to the shit we go through. Then again, at least you are trying. God bless you all, and pray you save not just America, but the world.
Michael Moore is a dumbass. He does not know what is capitalism. Right now it is corporatism not capitalism. Bring capitalism back vote for Ron Paul!!!
Im just a 15 year old girl who just happens to be growing up around this mess, how come my family has to struggle because of those rich who wanted to be even richer? Its not fair and its getting ridiculous.
@digimonFTW22456 In Africa 5 dollars an hour is a compfortable payment to live with. How about you donate all the money you make an hour till it reaches 5 dollars. You see, I'll doubt you'll do it, it's easy to tell other people to make sacrifises, and draw lines for them, but if it's yourself it's hard.
@digimonFTW22456 With all of that money do you really think they keep it all underneath their pillow? Or do they spend it. I don't like rich assholes either but it would be much better if they didn't get support by uncle sam. Having a limited government is what we want. So if they fuck up, their business fails. No bailouts.
socialism has destroyed every country that has ever adopted it.... The United States is the wealthiest nation in the world and they are...you guessed it, capitalist. Just look at what's happening in Europe right now thanks to socialism. Thank god that's we're not socialist!
US not socialist?...How can you consider our society to be capitalistic when government spending is estimated at almost 40% of GDP?
You don't even realize our indoctrination, sorry meant "education" is provided through the means of socialization. Department of Education is doing a fine job....
As an academic economist I have no doubts whatsoever that the market failure arguments are well known by every sane economist in this planet. Yet they are never articulated publicly because we are virtually the slaves of big corporations. Academicians have always been the slaves of power. Please search for Prof. Richard Wolff. He is one of the exceptions to this rule
I think we need to clone Regan..cause damn we need more people who know how to do a job right. The Bush's and the Obama's aren't fit to even linger in his shadow it's sad that they don't get that.I'll back anyone who will fix this country but so far the democrats do nothing but play it wasn't me game. Juvenile bullshit aside if you want someone like me to back you grow a spine and stop the wishy washy bullshit,I respect Clinton for owning up to his shit but his wife is fool to have stayed.
@JumpstartFister And where does it say that dipshit. i can make a vid like this myself(not as well put) its just pics and a few vid clips he did most of this on his own. Look up the credits smart ass
By the way Michael Moore's documentary is totally flawed as well. I am a fiscal conservative and capitalist and I hate that the government has anything to do with businesses. There should have been NO bailouts. This is a SOCIALIST idea, not a capitalist one.
Maybe it should be titled Socialism: A Love Story
Look at the US public school system. It's plagued with unions and horrible teachers who are granted tenure. Liberals believe that all teachers should be paid the same. They think a teacher who has a 30% class average should be paid the same as an exceptional teacher with an 80% class average. This is "fair", right? Same goes wealthy business owners.
Capitalism is the only economic system that works and is completely fair. Socialism breeds unproductivity and leads to the collapse of nations like the Soviet Union. This idea that there should be a big government that controls everyone's life and steals from those who produce and gives to those who don't produce is ridiculous. In a socialist society, there is no opportunity for anyone. It is the closest political system to slavery.
@GracieJujitsu1 It may be fair in some things but not everything. If you are rich, why the fuck should you get richer? Seriously, what's not enough money to them. There's not enough jobs for everyone. How can we make this work? As I said, not trying to get into argument here but capitalism is fair in terms of everyone of just looking for a job, going to school and having an equal opportunity but what's not fair is how the rich are taking advantage of the flaws that capitalism offers.
@Melbester9 Why should I get richer? Because I am donating every cent of my net worth when I die to a charity that will create opportunity in places like Africa. Why shouldn't I get more money? What would you do with more money, buy a flat screen TV? If a person is making money legally in this system, they deserve to have it. Business owners employ almost everyone in the country, we shouldn't be punishing them. They are the ones who invest in the economy to promote economic growth..
Those few who can understand the system will either be so interested in its profits, or so dependent on it favors, that there will be little opposition from that class. On the other hand, the [masses who are] incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear it burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests."
I agree that there's a massive amount of corruption in Wall Street, and that they're largely responsible for the crisis.
But this movie's credibility is imo attacked by how subjective it is.
Throwing around terms like 'derivative' (and did he really expect an answer anyway, given the way he 'asked' those people to explain the term)
A credit default swap is nothing more than an insurance. Yes, CDS's have been misused, but in principle theres nothing wrong with it, just sounds scary, that's all
@PolskiLiberalizm That's analogous to buying... a fake Gold Rolex on the street, thinking that it's real... and judging Gold Rolex's on the basis of that fake one.
Totalitarian Dictators take power by offering Socialism... and calling the regime that they set up... Socialism.
One is more likely to get the truth from a Street Hood then a Totalitarian Dictator.
@Redshift313 one thing. The Gold Rolexes are banned in socialist system as a sign of rich people. You can't be rich. You must be poor like the other people. From people's republic of Poland betven 1944 to 1989 about 1/4 of the population emigrated to capitalist countries like France,West Germany or USA. Tell me why ?
@Redshift313 Man please. The reason is very non optimal socialist economy. People in Poland had to wait about 10 years for telephone or new car (always very small and poor). USA and west world was a dream and paradise for milions of Poles from generation of my parents. Why you should change something which is good enought ?
@PolskiLiberalizm Capitalism... or whatever label we put on our current system... is in Cardiac Arrest !!! The Economic History of America shows that the economy never worked, very well for very long, without frequent Gov. intervention. Look at the Global Economic disaster we are experiencing... the condition is terminal... dwindling resources and growing population... the West's current standard of living is NOT Sustainable, even if we say Fuck the rest of the world... each man for himself.
@zubatzu Yes, I want communism. Nothing wrong with it. There won't be millions of people starving to death because couple of rich, greedy bastards in the West control 80% of world's money. If you like capitalism so much why won't you go to Third World and tell this to children who work 15 hours a day for a couple of $ monthly producing everything which bourgeois live on.
@PdP4 Why is it everywhere communism has been it's left poverty. Having the state own everything, where is the freedom in that!? People won't have an incentive to put effort in under such a system or improve there land. standard of living will drop for everyone. No freedom to pick a job. All power in the hands of the state.Resources will be allocated inefficiently. Look at china it has only started to develop once it began to allow free markets to develop. communism is awful!
@PdP4ever oh cool, then why dont you go to a comunist country if you like it so much ? i like capitalism: thats why i moved to the US. (anyway... its not capitalist 100% anymore..)

I am a Japanese in a quite rich family, but we like ideas of Michael Moore.
In Japan, it is illegal to fire someone without enough reason.
And, no company can survive if workers and customers are treated bad.
Just read some book written by Japanese company president, and you will know..

Some conservatives put their emphasis on privilege based on wealth (plutocracy, capitalism) others on privilege based on religion (theocracy, religious Right).
perdondaris 2 days ago
@perdondaris hey, i'm not rich or greedy. I am in the low middle class with a modest paying job that I EARNED, and am struggling due to taxes. IF i was simply allowed to earn my own money and KEEP what i EARNED, i would not be struggling. How can you call me a wealthy plutocrat, when my rightfully earned wealth is not in my pocket but is stolen by you socialist thieves. You say wealthy class rules. Wrong, you can vote or even run for president, majority decides if you win. Got anymore?
subscribefori 2 days ago
@subscribefori Yes I got one for ya. I honestly don't believe you have a well paying job. In fact I'm almost certain you are under age. Socialist thieves eh? In Europe people pay more taxes yet they are doing pretty fine compared to USA. You know why? Because they got socialists over there.
TheBlindPowerslave 22 hours ago

The other kind of "libertarian" is just a fraud, a hack paid to justify privilege and tyranny.
perdondaris 2 days ago
@perdondaris please explain that last libertarian part to me. I am a conservative libertarian. I favor free market, but with maximum human rights and foreign policy not being the policeman of the world, please explain how you can say a conservative libertarian is also a socialist?
subscribefori 2 days ago

Can anyone suggest some insightful books?

We live in a corporate society, not a capitalist society.
Capitalism, in its purest form, has only existed in the form of merchant capitalism, which of course is almost all marketplace systems before the creation of joint stock companies and corporations
AGeekWithAShotgun 2 weeks ago
Under a capitalist society, those banks and corporations would not have received help from a higher entity. Capitalism is a distraction to what's really going on between Wall St. and the government. It's easy to blame capitalism, because it's easier to make people upset with an ideology instead of the government and the big banks who allowed for this corruption. Why doesn't Michael Moore ever talk about the federal reserve or the housing bubble that contributed to the crisis?

@grad9559 LOL, tell it to the tens of millions of massacred Native Americans whom the U.S founded itself on the stolen lands of... not to mention the millions of Africans who were enslaved and murdered under U.S capitalism throughout the 19th century... If I wanted to write about capitalist crimes in the 20th century, it would be a book. I've already uploaded a short documentary on them.
By the way, today 27,000 children die around the world of easily preventable causes. That's capitalism.
wnxsilence 2 weeks ago
@wnxsilence
YOU.
TheSuperBethany 1 week ago
@TheSuperBethany No, I wouldn't. And by the way, I don't think total government control and private corporate ownership are the only two possibilities. Only someone with a small range of thought and imagination, or brainwashed by the dominant ideology of "free-market" capitalism would believe that there is no other way of life.
And the myth that people are "free" in Capitalism is laughable. Yes, the ninty-nine percent are free to die, or become wage slaves... Just look at capitalism world-wide.
wnxsilence 1 week ago
@wnxsilence
TheSuperBethany 1 week ago
@wnxsilence
TheSuperBethany 1 week ago
@TheSuperBethany I don't need to prove anything, you're the one making the claim that Capitalism is inherently "Free." So, why don't you provide some evidence to back up this arguement?
Also, I did not mean to cause any offense earlier... my point, simply was that why should you and everyone limit the possibilities only to "Capitalism" and "Communism" ... "Free-Markets" or "Socialism." Most people, don't even know the actual meaning of these words...
wnxsilence 1 week ago
@wnxsilence
TheSuperBethany 1 week ago
@wnxsilence
Continuing on:
Capitalism is free in it's way of limiting government authority. Few regulations and laws. There need be only enough laws to keep the peace with in the population. This means that the people are wholly economically and personally free. However, true Capitalism has never fully existed. It did dominate the United States at one point, but we are no longer Capitalist and will never be again.
TheSuperBethany 1 week ago
@TheSuperBethany So anyone with some ideal conception of what "Capitalism" is will inevitably be confronted by the harsh realities of the world. I myself, happen to be a staunch critic rather than supporter of the capitalist system and so called "free-markets." My opinion is that people themselves should be sovereign human beings, and for this to be realized, concentrations of power and authority must always be challenged.
wnxsilence 1 week ago
@wnxsilence
Continuing on again: (Sorry)
There should be laws protecting workers, of course, if it interferes with their pursuit of happiness. Ex: Refusing to pay them. Workers should be allowed to change jobs no matter what the circumstances without their life being threatened. That is the beauty of Capitalism. If one company is not paying them enough or overworks them, the worker can leave. And because Capitalism provides for competition, the worker should have no problem finding another job.
TheSuperBethany 1 week ago
@TheSuperBethany Yes I agree, obviously your idea of what Capitalism ideally and truly should be probably never even existed. I'm aware people such as Adam Smith and the founding fathers of the United States had a conception of capitalism based on fairness, equality, and most importantly a leveled playing field for all to compete. Certainly, a free market won't result in these conditions unless the starting point of competition was equally fair and all had the same opportunities.
wnxsilence 1 week ago
@wnxsilence However, such conditions have never existed in history... during capitalism, feudalism, slavery, or any modern social system since the industrial revolution. Those with concentrated capital and power, have always used it to tilt the game in their favor. I'm not sure if you know the exact history of the industrial revolution, but industrial capitalism was built to a large extent by massive state subsidy and protection ....not competition.
wnxsilence 1 week ago

wnxsilence 1 week ago
@wnxsilence absolutely right. Capitalism isn't fair because not everyone is born equal as our Constitution attempts to doctrine. Some people are born into poverty and thus are offered less opportunities than those who are born into more prominent families. Money is power in this country, and money buys an Education and peoples opinions. On paper Capitalism is beautiful, In practice it's devastatingly horrific. @TheSuperBethany The American textile industry, for example, could never dream of competing with British imports during the nineteenth century. It was only because U.S government tariffs, not to mention state subsidies, that America was able to develop any globally competitive industry what so ever. This is especially true of agriculture, where if producers are not protected from competition a nation's farming sector could easily be destroyed by some cheaper foreign import.
wnxsilence 1 week ago
@TheSuperBethany Only when the people themselves have taken a meaningful part in running their own affairs and that of their communities, directly and democratically, can it be said that conditions of freedom and independence exist. It's my view that people should be free to the extent that their own freedom does not infringe on the freedom of others.
wnxsilence 1 week ago
@TheSuperBethany When one man owns vast tracts of land and property, while another person is denied his very means of sustenance and life, I believe the ladder who's freedom to live is denied has the right to struggle for the same freedom that the former enjoys. We are not just isolated individuals, economically speaking, conditions that exist for one person have an affect on those that exist for all.
Law alone has never guaranteed the rights or freedoms of all, did you forget about slavery?

@TheTollundWoman Yes, all forms of tyranny and oppression. The Juche regime in North Korea is an authoritarian dictatorship without the slightest connection to any remotely Socialist or Communist ideal. Just because a country has a one party tyranny and that party happens to have the name "Worker" "Labor" or even "Communist" in it, does not mean Socialism or "Communism" exists in that country. I'm a Communist, and I recommend you look at the actual meaning of Socialism and Communism.

But what does Israel/Palestine/Lebanon have to do with communism and capitalism?
TheTollundWoman 3 weeks ago
@TheTollundWoman You should at least be impartial when you mention global injustice and human rights. Anyway, the Palestine question is very much connected to the present international order, i.e "capitalism." What is being perpetrated in Israel-Palestine is not to the benefit of either the Arab or Jewish inhabitants of that region, and arguably it is very much to the detriment and being done for other reasons. I think we must look at the whole system if we want to understand this or that issue.
wnxsilence 3 weeks ago

So you want to talk about Palestine, just in order to avoid talking about North Korea?
TheTollundWoman 3 weeks ago
@TheTollundWoman No, I would be just as content to discuss the brutal tyranny in North Korea as I would Israel-Palestine... My thesis, simply remains that the global injustices, violations of human rights, mass misery and violence we witness in our world today is very much at root and a symptom of the international system itself. We can not isolate these issues from one another, what we can do is examine them all impartially and objectively.

The capacity of people to have control over their own lives has very little to do with the morality of government officials.
duckdown1993 1 month ago
@duckdown1993 The main problem with the Soviet Union was that it was not democratic not the people who were running it. Communism is supposed to be the democratic workers control of the means of production, distribution and exchange. And a system based on production for need not profit. That didn't happen in the Soviet Union or in any other so called socialist country. In order for socialism to work it has to be entirely democratic.

Im just a 15 year old girl who just happens to be growing up around this mess, how come my family has to struggle because of those rich who wanted to be even richer? Its not fair and its getting ridiculous.
digimonFTW22456 1 month ago
@digimonFTW22456 So they should give all there money to you so you could be rich????
Cel3ry 1 month ago
@Cel3ry No, that's not it at all. Im just saying that it's ridiculous that you can have $100,000,000 and still want more.
digimonFTW22456 1 month ago
@digimonFTW22456 In Africa 5 dollars an hour is a compfortable payment to live with. How about you donate all the money you make an hour till it reaches 5 dollars. You see, I'll doubt you'll do it, it's easy to tell other people to make sacrifises, and draw lines for them, but if it's yourself it's hard.
Cel3ry 1 month ago
@Cel3ry I dont have $1,000,000, or a job. i also dont get an allowance. I have nothing to donate.
digimonFTW22456 1 month ago
@digimonFTW22456 that's probably why your a communist.
Cel3ry 1 month ago
@Cel3ry Im not a communist >.>
digimonFTW22456 1 month ago
@digimonFTW22456 With all of that money do you really think they keep it all underneath their pillow? Or do they spend it. I don't like rich assholes either but it would be much better if they didn't get support by uncle sam. Having a limited government is what we want. So if they fuck up, their business fails. No bailouts.
tehatemachine 1 month ago
@digimonFTW22456 Thats life, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and then the people in the middle gotta bail them both out.

socialism has destroyed every country that has ever adopted it.... The United States is the wealthiest nation in the world and they are...you guessed it, capitalist. Just look at what's happening in Europe right now thanks to socialism. Thank god that's we're not socialist!
slapshot445 1 month ago
@slapshot445

Juvenile bullshit aside if you want someone like me to back you grow a spine and stop the wishy washy bullshit,I respect Clinton for owning up to his shit but his wife is fool to have stayed.

what we have now is not capitalism, its corporativism mixed with a oclocracy.. maybe plutocracy.

@JumpstartFister And where does it say that dipshit. i can make a vid like this myself(not as well put) its just pics and a few vid clips he did most of this on his own. Look up the credits smart ass
vinmaster25 1 month ago
By the way Michael Moore's documentary is totally flawed as well. I am a fiscal conservative and capitalist and I hate that the government has anything to do with businesses. There should have been NO bailouts. This is a SOCIALIST idea, not a capitalist one.
Maybe it should be titled Socialism: A Love Story
GracieJujitsu1 2 months ago
Just an example of why socialist policies fail:
Look at the US public school system. It's plagued with unions and horrible teachers who are granted tenure. Liberals believe that all teachers should be paid the same. They think a teacher who has a 30% class average should be paid the same as an exceptional teacher with an 80% class average. This is "fair", right? Same goes wealthy business owners.
Socialism is for idiots
GracieJujitsu1 2 months ago
Capitalism is the only economic system that works and is completely fair. Socialism breeds unproductivity and leads to the collapse of nations like the Soviet Union. This idea that there should be a big government that controls everyone's life and steals from those who produce and gives to those who don't produce is ridiculous. In a socialist society, there is no opportunity for anyone. It is the closest political system to slavery.
GracieJujitsu1 2 months ago
@GracieJujitsu1 It may be fair in some things but not everything. If you are rich, why the fuck should you get richer? Seriously, what's not enough money to them. There's not enough jobs for everyone. How can we make this work? As I said, not trying to get into argument here but capitalism is fair in terms of everyone of just looking for a job, going to school and having an equal opportunity but what's not fair is how the rich are taking advantage of the flaws that capitalism offers.
Melbester9 1 month ago
@Melbester9 Why should I get richer? Because I am donating every cent of my net worth when I die to a charity that will create opportunity in places like Africa. Why shouldn't I get more money? What would you do with more money, buy a flat screen TV? If a person is making money legally in this system, they deserve to have it. Business owners employ almost everyone in the country, we shouldn't be punishing them. They are the ones who invest in the economy to promote economic growth..
GracieJujitsu1 1 month ago

Yes, CDS's have been misused, but in principle theres nothing wrong with it, just sounds scary, that's all

capitalism in greeates idea on our fucking world. fuck everyone who don't think like me.

@PolskiLiberalizm North Korea Is A Totalitarian Dictatorship... as Cuba and Venezuela are.
Redshift313 2 months ago
@Redshift313 socialism is a totalitarian system. I live in post - socialism country and i know it weel.
PolskiLiberalizm 2 months ago
@PolskiLiberalizm That's analogous to buying... a fake Gold Rolex on the street, thinking that it's real... and judging Gold Rolex's on the basis of that fake one.
Totalitarian Dictators take power by offering Socialism... and calling the regime that they set up... Socialism.
One is more likely to get the truth from a Street Hood then a Totalitarian Dictator.
Redshift313 2 months ago
@Redshift313 one thing. The Gold Rolexes are banned in socialist system as a sign of rich people. You can't be rich. You must be poor like the other people. From people's republic of Poland betven 1944 to 1989 about 1/4 of the population emigrated to capitalist countries like France,West Germany or USA. Tell me why ?
PolskiLiberalizm 2 months ago
@PolskiLiberalizm The answer is Obvious...
To Flee Totalitarian Dictators !!!
Redshift313 2 months ago
@Redshift313 Man please. The reason is very non optimal socialist economy. People in Poland had to wait about 10 years for telephone or new car (always very small and poor). USA and west world was a dream and paradise for milions of Poles from generation of my parents. Why you should change something which is good enought ?
PolskiLiberalizm 2 months ago
@PolskiLiberalizm Capitalism... or whatever label we put on our current system... is in Cardiac Arrest !!! The Economic History of America shows that the economy never worked, very well for very long, without frequent Gov. intervention. Look at the Global Economic disaster we are experiencing... the condition is terminal... dwindling resources and growing population... the West's current standard of living is NOT Sustainable, even if we say Fuck the rest of the world... each man for himself.

what the hell do you guys want? communism? Competition and profit incentive is a good thing if implemented correctly
zubatzu 2 months ago
@zubatzu Yes, I want communism. Nothing wrong with it. There won't be millions of people starving to death because couple of rich, greedy bastards in the West control 80% of world's money. If you like capitalism so much why won't you go to Third World and tell this to children who work 15 hours a day for a couple of $ monthly producing everything which bourgeois live on.
PdP4ever 2 months ago
@PdP4 Why is it everywhere communism has been it's left poverty. Having the state own everything, where is the freedom in that!? People won't have an incentive to put effort in under such a system or improve there land. standard of living will drop for everyone. No freedom to pick a job. All power in the hands of the state.Resources will be allocated inefficiently. Look at china it has only started to develop once it began to allow free markets to develop. communism is awful!
zubatzu 2 months ago
@zubatzu There was never communism in the world but socialism up to 1953 and then revisionism. Educate yourself.
