yes.... she's so deserves it. receiving her next 17th nomination for acting bid in "the iron lady", meryl streep is indeed the greatest hollywood actress in 21st century while katharine hepburn was the greatest one in the last century.....
@yowzephyr I find that funny that this comment is in a thread about Susan Sarandon, simply because she's the last person who would have played Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. I wonder who else will be nominated? I haven't heard of any GREAT new movies for a while, Sandra Bullock was the last person to win an Oscar where it was no doubt she would win.
Nicole kidman en "To Die For" (1995) estuvo mucho mejor. ¡Todas lucen contentísimas por Susan!
DIOS PARA MI MERYL STREEP DEBIO GANAR POR DIOS LOS PUENTES DE MADISON ES EXTRAORDINARIA UNA OBRA DE ARTEE,,,LASTIMA AUNQUE SUSAN ES EXCELENTE Y ESTA PELI POR LA QUE GANO ES MUY BUENA PERO MERYL EN LOS PUENTES ARRASOOOOOOOOO.

I've noticed that Meryl Streep always turns to the person next to her when her name is called and the camera is put on her. She is so humble & sweet! haha Susan is such a wonderful actress, and Tim Robbin's expression at 3:48 is so sweet! :)
You know Meryl is not the only talented actress in that bunch and not the only actress nominated to stand up for Sarandon upon the announcement of her name. It's one thing to love Meryl, it is another to be blind to other, possibly more talented actresses than her.
@outinsider i disagree, brother. She is more talented than most of them. It all depends on the role she gets. She showed that in Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie's Choice. :)
The roles she has been getting are not of that quality as those films are. Sure, Meryl can make what would pass off as crap look really really good, but at the same time, there are many actresses in Hollywood Meryl's age who deserve the work that Meryl gets.
Sarandon deserved the award. The movie was terrific and so was her performance...however why was Kathy Bates not nominated for 'Dolores Claiborne'?! She delivered a flawless and unforgettable performance. Shame on the academy.
susian deserved the oscar, emma was great in sins and sensibilty and myrel was great in the brides of madison county as well , but i think my beautiful actress was the best :))
Susan Sarandon is the greatest actress around today, i'm only shocked that she has jus won the one Oscar! I think she is incomparitable to all other actresses, just in a completely different league. inspirational.
Sharon Stone in Casino was awesome and Elisabeth Shue was great as well. Susan Sarandon was amazing in Dead Man Walking but i think Sharon Stone should have won.
she is happy because she secretly knows (as a lot of us) that they have to create a new award just for her. shes in another league, you cant compare ferraris with toyotas!, shes uncomparable =)!
Meryl Streep es única. Puede que no tenga un gran repertorio de Oscars, y añado que las actrices que han ganado... TODAS... Se lo merecen, pero Meryl es genial. La actriz más nominada de la historia, por algo será. La admiro profundamente.
there were so many amazing performances nominated that year. Sense and Sensibility and Bridges of Madison County are two of my all time favourite movies, and of course Susan Sarandon kicked ass in Dead Man Walking. Any three of those definitely deserved the oscar, in my opinion... couldnt lose in 1995 / 1996.
@NataliaWeronikaD But I'm glad that Meryl's spirit is so lively and kind. It makes me wish I was able to fully follow her career throughout my life to watch her grow as an actress. Sadly, I wasn't alive back then. Teehee~
@tucksedo Well, she already won twice before. Meryl Streep has the status in Hollywood that she doesn't need any more awards to be considered the best.

Elizabeth she should have won, i saw leaving Las Vegas, she actually played well, and was the leading character, though Saradon was the main player, her role was superseded by poncelet. Sharon stone character meant little compared to Ace and Nikky. Elizabeth shue should have won
