back on krypton before the planet exploded there was a program where DNA was taken from kryptonians and put into that purple orb so that the future of their race wouldnt ultimately be annihilation, jor-el was one of these kryptonians every being that came out of that orb is a clone of the original kryptonian that died on krypton
