Awesome! May I ask was it by choice that you went with a more "outrun" style ground instead of the space harrier style "checkerboard?" If you did want to go with the checkerboard look, all you would have to do is make the ground (and ceiling in some other levels) have non-moving vertical stripes vanishing towards the horizon, and that way when the horizontal lines move toward the screen it gives the space harrier look. But considering the awesomeness of what I just saw it was by choice.
dude frigging nice i love how you used a ps2 to use its amazing 3d effects, motion blur for this! i wish i could get a rom or something for this so i could play it on my comp xD
That is very impressive - I remember playing the original back in the days - Even had a moving hydraulic sit-down version at an arcade I used to go to - The game portrayed here looks even better than the original - Excellent work!
I programmed this about two years ago for a university coursework. Now I tend to work with DirectX, shaders and the PhysX API. Currently I am writing a Maya exporter for an official PSP dev kit file format, so I guess you could include the Maya API as well. In terms of actual games, I can do Arcarde-esque platformers and shooters in 3D/2D. Nothing too AI or art focused since its just me :)
This was my first proper project since I started to learn C++ and PS2 programming. I'm working on my website at the moment and I will be putting the source code on it when it is done, if anyone is intrseted :)
can i be like you ? im 14 . :(

i've always thought the combination of the dude flying through the air and his retarded-looking stance made him look utterly homosexual

You, sir, are a genius.
This is a very smooth, fast-paced, arcade-accurate port of Space Harrier for PS2.
Not hard to see why it won 1st prize.
