  • is this a hippie song? lol i just thought they were against the hippie culture.

  • @nana78748 The long lost art of being ironic : )

  • Better than the Beatles.

Did these guys record anything that could rival the abstract and randomness of the Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd?

  • @CenaTv2 no, they lived in the real world

  • @CenaTv2 I doubt anyone could, then or now. Barrett was one of a kind.

  • @CenaTv2 no

  • poppers, sun and this song ♥

  • @MARTHEY91 You're my new best friend, ok?

  • @pushelildaisies your welcome this is the best way to relax and enjoy the live

  • fellow tripheads<3

  • I love songs that have "Sun" in the title, don't ask me why.

  • @sedank

    Why?

  • I fucking hate the sun.

  • it's like a bitter version of here comes the sun, like if george had just been heartbroken and then went to clapton's house

  • Fuck the sun :'( Just kidding.

    Awesome song!

  • Now this is a great song, not the lou reed metallica nightmare!

  • Doug Yule does a good job on vocals on this song. He's the one singing lead on here.

  • @hermygagala Actually, you are haha. Look up the song's info. Did you really think that even sounded like Lou Reed?

  • @NickODU2015 That's why I erased my comment even before your comment. And I actually did think it sounded like Lou Reed lol. I don't know why it didn't erase it from your inbox as well lol. But yeah I looked it up right after I commented lol. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • I think Lou Reed Loves the Sun...Every DrugHead loves the Sun. It recalls the good old times

baabababaaaa Who loves the sun? baabababaaaa Not every one (people who do not appreciate) baabababaaaa

    Sorry i think so;)

Great Song. Cool Band. Absolutely underrated!!!!

  • I must have listened to this album 10 thousand times. I saw the VUnderground when they came to Detroit , ca1970[?] & were promoting this album at the Vanity ballroom. They threw out copies to the audience from large boxes & I caught one. My copy was lost a long time after; but then came cds, and then the boxed set, [ which is so wonderful with the uncut version of Sweet Jane] and then I got a reprint of the vinyl. Lou Reed forever!!!! [ Lou Reed did not tour for this promotion ]

    Anti-human

    Anti-life

    Anti-reproduction

    anti-this song

    who loves this song?

  • @Randy4herEra over 400 hundred people including me

  • @Randy4herEra I'm assuming that you were kidding since your comment was so silly but ill bite anyways. This song is actually about abandonment of a father. "Who cares what it does, since you broke my heart, Papa, Papa."

  • @Randy4herEra What?

  • I love the sun it makes plants grow and it helps me eat lol :)

  • Lou Reed was such a hard-core, hard-drug-shooting, hard-dicked, bad-ass dude, who somehow wrote the softest and sweetest songs. What a talent, and I'm glad he survived that era, with everything he got up to...

  • @gtjacobs See that. You thought he was so tuff, & he was just a big pussycat, wasn't he? I think the genius of Reed is that he wrote songs for his first 3 albums which dared to trample on the toes of the suburbanites & AM radio. He went totally to the dark side, no wonder he got not airplay for "Heroin" & "Venus in Furs." He had new & different ideas. That is the truest definition of avant garde, and a BRILLIANTartist.

  • I live in Arizona I freakin hate the sun.

  • gingers dont love the sun :)

  • guy coughs at 1:08 ish

  • So this is the song Mad Sweeney chose to play in Neil Gaiman's book American Gods (Pg 39). LOL! That's pretty funny. :)

  • love<3

  • Yes i love the Sun and Velvet Underground Kerjestin

  • I LOVE THE RAIN MORE THAN THE SUN!!!

  • @mariots2 thank you for that lovely comment.

  • Fuck the sun

  • 5 people DO love the sun

  • Shit, it's summer and there's sun...

  • 5 people got sunburn!

  • Man, this tune is incredible!

  • A graciously short guitar solo, lol. But a great 60s song nonetheless.

  • 4 people don't like the sun

  • Splt up with a Bulgarian to this album and just rediscovered it - have been transported back to Sofia - this abum and Marvin Gaye's What's Goin On - thank you thank you thank you God for music! No more Lonesome Cowboy Bill!

  • I adore this song)

why they use all that equipment today to record crap? It beats me...

  • Exactly it's always the sister that everyone loves.

  • Pssshhh... the sun, so overrated. The moon is where its at!

  • Met these cats too and may I add,John Cale is a wanker although he called me one Nibirue yeaarrrgghhh

  • @freddygoldstein ye i new some one who met him when cale played celtic connectoins in glasgow and they said he was an arse hole of a man saw lou live couple of years ago good gig

  • 2:00 :D

  • Love love this song

  • I'm not sure why this is being compared to here comes the sun. It is much more similar to' till there was you' both have to do with love enhancing the beauty of nature. also the chord structure is similar with the non-diatonic minors

  • im so fucking high and i love this song so much better than that justin bieber crap on the radio thumbs up if u agree

  • @planetraptor420 fuck you

  • shows how sad songs can also have good vibe to it, unlike all the mainstream emo crap we have today. amazing song !

  • @ForbiddenVegetable

Well, I've heard 'Here Comes The Sun' literally thousands of times since it was released. I'm a fairly big Beatles fan, so I listened to it at home, of course, and it was frequently played on our local radio stations through the years, especially in the 70's. No doubt it's a very nice song, but I prefer 'Who Loves'. On 'LOADED', the Velvet Underground was doing everything right, with the exception of 'Lonesome Cowboy Bill'. Don't know what went wrong there. ; )

  • @psychkoala To each his own.

  • @ForbiddenVegetable Haha you're a fucking joke. you know nothing about music and don't deserve to even comment.

  • @hermygagala There's no use trying to reason with someone who believes this song is better than the Beatles song. I feel kind of bad for you.

  • @ForbiddenVegetable Yeah ok fuckin tea bagger. The one who thinks that the beatles aren't overrated. That is the opinion of someone who is a musician your opinion doesn't count cause anyone who thinks that the beatles are the greatest knows fuck all about music as a whole and more specifically vocals.

  • @hermygagala You are obviously a fucking moron. The Beatles were known especially for their harmonies and call and response vocals. It really is a waste of time trying to reason with someone with such a low intelligence level and such little knowledge of music. You will probably live your whole life and not realize just how abysmally dull and ignorant you are. It is futile to try and reason with a person such as yourself. Now good day to you sir!

  • @ForbiddenVegetable Again you are not a vocalist or a musician. I know the beatles were and are great but the greatest is a complete overrstatement. And they have received much more credit than they can account for. And I'm the ignorant one when you can't open your fucking ears and realize that fame doesn't make a band the best. It can often mean right promotion and right time right place. So liberalize your life and learn a thing or two about underground bands you fuck tard.

  • @hermygagalai it's the INTERNET you dumb motherfucker, why are you arguing...

also, opinions, ever heard of them? not everyone is going to agree with and you two don't need to act like fucking children

  • @hermygagala just wanted to say you're gay

  • @Soundgarden8497 Go fuck yourself. Fucking moron.

  • @hermygagala no, i don't want to. i'd rather root your mother's face

  • @Soundgarden8497 Good one bud, very creative. Fucking looser...

  • @hermygagala only a loser would spell loser like looser. just sayin'

  • @Soundgarden8497 Yeah ok a fuckin typo you fuckin tea bagger.

  • @hermygagala gargle a hot load

  • @Soundgarden8497 That was a fairly disturbing comment which makes me not want to talk to you much more lol

  • @hermygagala it's what u do best, why do you disturb yourself then?

  • @ForbiddenVegetable this sucks and the beatles are overrated. let them die already... take your forbidden vegetable and shelf it very deep ;)

  • @Soundgarden8497 I hope you are proud that you come across as a homosexual very strongly in your comment.

  • @ForbiddenVegetable you're the faggot

  • @Soundgarden8497 You're deflecting your own issues onto other people.

  • @ForbiddenVegetable yes you are

  • @Soundgarden8497 You did it once again, thereby proving that you have the maturity of an unborn fetus. Bitch.

  • @ForbiddenVegetable you have the maturity of an unsprouted vegetable, monkey

  • @Soundgarden8497 What do u gain out of fighting over youtube? just wondering :P

  • @myjungleismassive1 freedom of ideas and opinion, influence on public debate and persuasion, comic relief and a touch of sadism.

  • @myjungleismassive1 you're a junkie

  • @Soundgarden8497 junk e

  • @homestarfan2008 How is this song ANYTHING like "Here Comes The Sun"? Lou Reed doesn't even like the Beatles. Also, the whole album isn't totally different from the third album (which most the band considers their best album). And at this point, he was just doing what Lou told him to do. On Squeeze, he was just doing what his manager told him to do.

Also, I may be a minority on this but I like this album better than White Light or Velvet Underground. Maybe not as much as VU & Nico.

  • To the people in here comparing it to " here comes the sun ", it sounds nothing like that song. Go listen to the song, it sounds nothing like it. Lou Reed, was a good song writer listen to Transformers and Berlin.

  • papapapaa!

    who loves the sun?

    papapapaa!

    who loves the velvet underground?

  • at first i thought it said "who cares that it makes pants grow'' :)

  • @phantomkitty1234 I don't think anyone would particularly mind if that was the lyric, yipeeeeeeeeeeee :D

  • @homestarfan2008 its not a rip off of here comes the sun it is a shot at it. here comes the sun is about being happy and this is about depression. he was sad at what had become, and when u reach that point you end up hating everything even the beatles singing here comes the sun all happy or even the sight of the sun itself .

  • pow right in the kisser

  • @homestarfan2008

To me it ain't a ripoff, it's more like a bitter pisstake. By 1969-70 Lou Reed was trying hard to write hits and Loaded is a great, accessible LP. Obviously Loaded isn't as important as the two first Velvets LPs in the history of rock.

Do you know much about the Velvets' history? Doug Yule didn't "yoko'd the velvets apart". Yule was young, naive and overkeen and was misled and manipulated by Manager Sesnick who's, by all accounts, the real one to blame.

  • thank you for uploading

  • Heard this in work from a cognesenti guy who was playing his (quite) eclectic playlist in the file room;. My first impression? The Patridge Family on drugs! I am a long time fan of the velvets, but never heard this until then. Thanks Danny!

  • @margarita6022 cool song....susan dey is babe-o-rama

  • everyone interprets the lyrics differently but shit its such a good song

  • a hidden gem of the sixties ....

  • This is one of the most depressing VU songs but the catchy poppy beat throws it off intentionally. It's entirely cynical and borderline disturbing if you look at how the sad pessimistic lyrics contrast with the very upbeat tune. Lou Reed really is brilliant and entirely underrated.

  • didnt this version have drums at one time?lol

  • my alarm clock! i love waking up to it

  • just sounds like an old Beatles tune....

  • without the sun you wouldn't be alive so you love the sun

  • actually i hear a bad lovesong....he hates all things expirienced with his girlfriend....sun, flowers...wind..and so on....

  • @madsaddeussen yes, but it's a beautiful melody nonetheless (And Doug Yule can sing well too)!!

  • pa pa pa paaaa....

  • This should be used at the end credits for a True Blood episode!

  • This song made hate the sun with it's beauty.

  • Is it me or are the pa pa pa pas addictive?

  • Gorgeous song and arrangement... Love these guys.

  • this song is so underrated such an amazing tune

  • i hate the sun too... ¬¬

  • This song sounds exactly like the Wilco song "Summerteeth." Wilco must have been made it as a direct homage to this song.

  • When I was two I discovered the sun and ran in terror...

  • Comment removed

  • Nirvana should have covered this.

  • wow this is good stuff 0.0

  • It's not a sad song, and it's definitely not a hippie song. It's a parody of those sappy pop ditties where callow youths wallow in their own misery. The sun is infinitely more important than any of us and our problems are only relevant to us, not the universe.

  • The sun's pretty cool...I mean without it we'd be dead...

  • that's doug yule singing lead, just as on "candy says" and a host of others. you can hear lou reed in the final choruses, adding yet another layer of exquisite harmony to what is already a flawlessly constructed song.

  • at around 1:10 it sounds like somebody coughs

  • Haha, wow, this is striking.

In a much different way than 'Heroin', however....

  • velvet foreever! im an instant fan, love his voice, these guys are the best. My vote for the best band of all time.

  • I always thought this was the most ironic song the Velvets ever recorded. When they first started out they were all like "We're not like those hippies and flower children on the West coast" -- and then they do this.
