I just dicovered this song, but im no stranger to System Of a Down's version.

The only comparison I see in the two is the title.

System Of a Down is nothing like this song.

I know Alex said that the sound changes every album, but this seems like a logical progression from the first album, whereas the third and fourth albums seem like Alex showboating his knack for weird hipster lyrics. They're not bad, they just don't evoke what I liked about the band.

I'm not a fan of Phantom Planet - but I believe their fame comes solely from the fact their drummer is Jason Schwartzman, the aristocratic fellow from all those Wes Anderson films. If he wasn't involved in this band, they would have never been able to licence the track, "California", and Jason wouldn't have been able to start the band Coconut Records, which produced another MTV friendly hit, "West Coast."
