I have had one of these guitars for years. It's a beast! I thought some people watching this might be interested in the specs:

Wasburn Idol WI65.

Solid mahogany body. Set neck with 22 fret rosewood fingerboard..

Tune-o-matic bridge, grover machineheads.

2 Seymour Duncan USA pickups.

Two volume controls and two 'VCC' controls (go from humucking to single coil sounds).

I've got the same guitar but with the seymour duncan pickups, sounds almost as crunchy and does not say I suck although my chops might be lacking in comparison. It's a very playable fingerboard as this shredder demonstrates, he compliments it nicely with some serious speed and some tasty scales. Get the WI65 if your posh Gibson is getting boring and slowing you down...

I bought one of these recently and I have to say, it's one of the best gutiars out there imo. I sold all my Gibsons (two SGs and a Flying V), my Peavey Wolfgang, two Charvels and an LTD ESP EX-400 BD and all I play now are Washburn Idols. They really are the most underated, value for money guitar out there. I own a custom shop idol, a Nick Catanese Idol and two WI64s. I won't play anything else.

Hi David. (I'm about to buy a version of this guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups.) Anyway, I think you are talking about 'pinch harmonics' which are achieved by rubbing the pick AND your thumb across the string. I am learning this technique myself. You need to get the technique right and also pick the string in the right position. Search for pinch harmonics and it will become very clear. I'm no expert but it seems like stronger or active pickups help? Hope this useful. :-)

Yeah you can choose between a Wi 65 with very good Seymour Duncans pick-ups, or with EMGs (metalmen are coming back ...), and they are a little more expensive withs EMGs. Thoose guitars are toooo good
