@tobs001 That movie you saw was Mongol. I agree with you, but the movie was only supposed to be the first movie in a trilogy by Sergei Bodorov. The movie was an international success, but the movie brought so much success to Bodorov that he began accepting offers on other projects. If the trilogy is ever completed, I think it may be one of the greatest international film epics ever told. Without the other two movies, I don't think it's possible for us to see Mongol in its complete context.

Nice movie, really appreciated it. Well that's a bit different from "Mongol", but I liked both actually. The only bad point is, they had to speak russian in this one.
As far as reviewers go... well I don't really want to spend my time on seeing The Piano and whatever uplifting story that just came out of Bollywood... so they can keep "thumbs" to themselves. I'll keep my eye candy and explosions and be happy and go to work on Monday satisfied after watching this at filmsi.co.cc.
The movie was enjoyable. But, felt disjointed and long. Even though it was supposed to be 83 minutes (As per the DVD box). The subtle russian influences were kind of scary! :P And I found the catholic monk superfluous..
Ignoring all that.. It was okay.. The movie 'Mongol' was better though..
When i first heard about it reviews and general reaction told me that this movie is good.... saw this recently on filmsi.co.cc... And it is true, it is really good...

@BayouBluesMan You need to read more history books. Alexander the great succeeded his father with a strong kingdom and unparalleled army, he carried out his fathers campaigns. Of course he was a capable king defeating the persian army and controlling most of india. Genghis Kahn created an empire from absolute nothing, to rule majority of asia from nothing short of worthless, he to me is a true warrior.

I think I know which movie you are talking about. It is called 'The Mongol'. I was even more freaking pissed with the way it ended the battle which I was looking forward to. Waste of my time. I recommend BBC Genghis Khan. It is definitely better.

@tobs001 haha yea, i was exactly the same. bored out my head watching Timujin get captured, then escape then get captured then escape,then somehow manange to get a giant army. top it all off the ending was way historically inaccurate. It's like a 14 year old's homework were he skips the middle and makes up the ending in last 5 mins off the top of his head

@tobs001 That movie you saw was Mongol. I agree with you, but the movie was only supposed to be the first movie in a trilogy by Sergei Bodorov. The movie was an international success, but the movie brought so much success to Bodorov that he began accepting offers on other projects. If the trilogy is ever completed, I think it may be one of the greatest international film epics ever told. Without the other two movies, I don't think it's possible for us to see Mongol in its complete context.

As far as reviewers go... well I don't really want to spend my time on seeing The Piano and whatever uplifting story that just came out of Bollywood... so they can keep "thumbs" to themselves. The movie was enjoyable. But, felt disjointed and long. Even though it was supposed to be 83 minutes (As per the DVD box). The subtle russian influences were kind of scary! :P And I found the catholic monk superfluous..
Ignoring all that.. It was okay.. The movie 'Mongol' was better though..
