  • i have my cdl permit wooohoooo

  • I just passed my written CDL tests, and preparing for the road test, thanks for your information.

  • @Organicchickenlady Congratulations Hoping you pass the road test with ease........Kirk

  • your truck sounds a littel ruff

  • He missed a lot but its a decent video at best.. May not get u passed if u just go by this video. Most inspecters check the most important parts n may only ask u certian question n have u check only some things but u need to kno them all. U need to tell them wa u'r checking, why and kno wer everything is located n how it works n lookz .GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

  • @jmrea2253 wow you must not be from washington state...cause if you follow this video to the letter in wa state you will probably get a 5 or less on pretrip.........

  • He forgot to check the muffler bearing

  • why are you starting the vehicle before you check the oil? ( not right) did not check the dome light, others caught he did not check the fire extinguisher the seat belt, and three red reflective triangles.

  • If your reflective triangles are in the Cab you must mention them with fuses and fire ext secure and charged.........You can mention them on the walk around when you demo the door. It really is were you have them located.

  • All you have to mention about a fire extinguisher is that it is securly mounted and charged...........you are not required to mention what kind it is.......

  • For the in cab, the seat belt, three red reflective triangles, and full charged 10 BC fire extinguisher do not have to be mentioned for the pre trip?

  • @emauriceharr

5BC is the only Required Fire Extinguisher, 10BC is for Hazardous Materials.

  • @doomer67 Incorrect. A 10 BC is required to be mentioned and on hand in the vehicle during your pre-trip test for Class A CDL. Federal Requirement.

  • I am guessing for the Emergency Brake Test, during your fan down, you feel it is not important to check that the tractor/parking brakes apply @ around 20 psi?

  • wow I have a lot to learn.

  • All inspections should be done with a check list. All it takes is one forgotten item in a rush to cause an accident.

My only gripe about the pretrip test being done strictly from memory.

  • Check engine oil while engine been shut for atleast 10 mins, If u do while engine running the oil pressure expends the oil above the level.

  • @jotz007 You can't check the oil with engine running........

  • hahaha he is reading it...you failed old man. your suppose to know all these by heart, from the top of your head. on final exam, we are not allowed to use any aid or papers hahahah

  • too much noise

  • I think you did a wonderful job. Your very words were on the test. I got a 97% on my test all thanks to you. Thanks :)

  • where is the hub oil located?

  • @fibrillatorD usually wheels have hub which is filled with oil. so you can find the hub oil on your wheel axle. when weather permits it, you can even see the darker and lighter colour on the hub indicating the oil level inside the hub. some trailers are filled with grease so in every case your required to state that there is no signs of oil leaking, its dry and dusty, good to go.

  • this video is awesome THANK YOU GRAYS HARBOR TRUCKING SCHOOL...the only thing i see wrong (and far be it from me to critique) is when he does the air brake leakage test,he should've let the pressure bulid up to the cut-out pressure of (100-125psi) first....he does it last in the vid..in the real world i'm sure thats all good and well...just goin by my own account..thanks again...AWESOME VID

  • Can anyone please tell me how do I get on the job If I had no driving experience, and I have my Class A CDL? I have my Class A CDL but how do I get driving experience if they require driving experience to get on the job as a truck driver?

  • @sideslide23

Alot of companies take rookies, best advice is to try and get a local job so your not over the road living like a hobo. Good local companies that takies rookies may include Pepsi and coke. Or foodservice companies (lots of work) Sysco and Gordon food service. Conway also takes newbies in certain areas. Good luck

  • @Weezy10580 thx and by the way, I reciently got a job offer in Victoria TX driving Tanker Truck for the oil company, so I took a test for a tanker endorcement last week, so I would be hauling Salt water and driving them to the disposal wales.

  • Good professional video! Thanks a lot!!

  • Excellent job but for CAB INSPECTION he forget to say Insurance and Registration updated.

  • Thanks! for the video, I'm a student here at Western Trucking School in San Diego, California. I'm due for the driving test next week. My only worry is all the talking with the instructor. this video really make it all look easy.

  • @rickyrsd Aye, he makes it look easy as pie, but hes got the cue cards, eh? heh. And he's been at it a few years. keep up with the studies, It's easy to forget a few things here or there when you're suddenly out there and the fellow has a clipboard in his hand.

  • @BarryBringsIt How did you due Barry?.........

  • @rickyrsd How did you due Ricky??

  • @kirk42011 my appointment was cancel due to weather. Weather that barely even happens here in San Diego. Usually is a sunny blue sky. I'm set for next week again. Thanks for asking. in the mean time I will continue to memorize all the verbal stuff test. In cab inspection, Air brake system, & walk around.

    Best Regards,

  • I've been watching this over and over for the past 9 hours.

I'm going to forget it all tomorrow, just you watch.

  • i think he started wrong he started to check windshield wipers etc after brake(s) test here in NY you check windshield wipers etc and than you move on to more serious things

  • @shavimusha thanks for the input. Remember the PreTrip is your test.....You have the oppurtunity to do it in any order you like. The DOL Testers are merely note takers for the test. If you prefer to change the order its your option. Usually your instructor sets your order. Happy Trucking.....See North America in a semi

  • thanks for the compliment I only made this to help those study . glad we at GHC can help

  • great vid seen it at cdl-testing. com - be safe out there!

  • great vid!!!

  • yes on the Air Brake system, what are the slack adjusters?

  • @sideslide23 The slack adjusters is located on the front side of the brake can. It has a few pins on it and should be adjusted with less than 1 inch of freeplay. You can test that on the steer axle by pulling it when doing your pretrip. You must also check that it has no missing keeper or missing pins and keys

  • I am trucking student. I have a question for old truckers. where can I buy bucking up pills. because to me it looks like a magic action; please help.

  • Thank you for providing such a good video. I got my test for my class A on may 10th so I will be watching these videos alot!

  • great video.. im taking my test soon so i will watch it a couple more times...

  • I have a question, what should wheel bearing seals be checked for? and why put the starter switch key in your pocket during the pre-trip inspection?

  • You have to make sure there are no lose or missing bolts no leaks and the lubrication level is between the add and full mark the reason to take the key is you have to get under tractor to check some thing (5th wheel locked on shank, trailer frame) so no one jumps in the vehicle why'll your under it

  • @sideslide23 Whee bearing seals check for oil leaks, put the key in your pocket to keep some one from starting your truck and running over you or from stealing it.

  • Great videos, but....your 1 minute air leak test was maybe 20 seconds long. Other than that, I still am going to use these to help prepare me for when I get to take my tests.

  • Yea was just trying to hurry it up.......thanks for the comments lol

  • I did help. and it did not take me 100 time to get it into my head. this is the best cdl pre trip on you tube. i got my class A. watch and learn from both of these video's.

  • @lamboman53 Hey did you ever get your CDL? let me know

  • Excellent video. One of the best I have seen for the pre-trip.

  • Thankyou I made a couple mistakes but it will get yea a cdl in wa state
