My favorite narrow gauge railway in the UK. One that definately doesn't make the most of what it has. As said, a few tweaks to the timetable, more trees cut down to enhance the views, better facilities at the top station and what is a great railway would then be superb. The views are potentially better than those on the Settle-Carlisle, which we will no doubt see in Pennysteams part 2 ?
Appreciated. My wife's late grandfather, Llew, was a driver on the VoR and on the Cambrian 'main line' and I must have travelled this route scores of times. We have a photo of him in charge of the loco of the same name as him. His wife Dora oten went with him. 'Llewellyn' seems to have a different exhaust sound, softer than the other two locomotives. Once I watched from the first coach, where you were standing, as the driver and fireman had a blazing row that lasted for the whole trip!
We had two good days around the railway , very nice, is the the devil Bridge attraction of the owning company by the way or is the railway entirely independent. I ask because I feel you could do so much better with a slightly different time table and possibly some of your own attractions at Devil's bridge. I had the feeling while I enjoyed the trip the hour wait at the top end is counter-productive to the railway itself.
Anyone doing the falls would catch the next one back, this would then allow you to run six during peak and 3 of peak. Secondly access to the fall's is not good via the road, I turned around half way as I didn't like walking that busy road with penny, I would say the same for people with kids. You would do better setting up a kids play area, kirklees has one, that way you keep the punters near your shop instead of them wondering of to kill the time.
@pennysteam Yes. That road is a bit difficult and particularly for anyone with a dog on a lead and/or children. It is supported opposite the hotel, by a very deep retaining wall which can't easily be moved outwards to allow road widening. But I think it is strong enough to have a pedestrian walkway cantelevered off it at road level. Not a cheap job. Your point about entertainment at the station site. Plenty of room for a 'Victorian Fair Ground'; 10" ground level steam railway; video room..
@AndreiTupolev Welsh is a phonetic language and easier to pronounce than English or French. Tal is pronounced exactly as wtitten 'Tal'. y is pronounced in a way that is similar to 'err'. Now to llyn. The ll is the bit that frightens non Welsh speakers. OK: Place the end of your tounge against the roof of your mouth, just behind the front teeth. Blow spit down the side of the tongue and you have a 'll'. yn is the same a inn... 3 syllables:

Great video....look forward to other parts. Pretty sure that this railway is the only steam line owned by British Rail. Lordbrian

HI,

@pennysteam The hour hardly leaves time to walk round the falls...

That's probably wise. I'm not really sure how to say Talyllyn, let alone Rheidol.

Ah, thank you. At least Ffestiniog is relatively easy, probably easier to pronounce than spell.
